We wandered into Threes and didn't know Saison Day was happening. It was veryyy busy inside. We were lucky enough to get a booth and ordered some food. The chicken was tender, I just didn't love all the seasoning on it. Friend chicken for $18 and didn't come w fries.. fries were okay. The beers were good but it wasn't my favorite. Threes is one of my favorite spots in Gowanus with a great selection of beer. The staff is awesome and they have a lot of space in their back patio all year round more or less (in the winter they do a pretty good job of keeping it covered, well lit, and warmish). This is a really good place for bigger groups. Food isn't fancy but they do have a limited food menu available if you have the munchies (with the basics like burgers, fries, etc.). read more

Threes Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Brooklyn, New York in December 2014. It was founded by business partners Justin Israelson, Josh Stylman and Andrew Unterberg. Israelson is the owner of Sycamore: a craft beer bar and flower shop in Brooklyn's Flatbush neighborhood. He partnered with Stylman, a tech entrepreneur, for the possibility of opening a brewery that would double as a community hub and event space. Unterberg, a lawyer and playwright, also came on board for the project. Greg Doroski, a former brewer for Greenport Harbor Brewing, was hired as the brewmaster. The name 'Threes' was chosen to reflect the three partners and the fact that their address was 333 Douglass Street in Brooklyn's Gowanus neighborhood. In addition to being a brewery, Threes also operates as a coffee shop (with coffee provided by East Village-based Ninth Street Espresso) and beer shop by day. At night, the location transforms into a brewpub, beer garden and music venue dubbed 'Tiny Montgomery'. A small bar is located in the beer shop, although the draft list isn't as extensive as the one in the main bar. I started out with a draft pour of "Synapses Bloom" (Wine Barrel-Aged Saison w/ Rose Petals & Pink Peppercorns; collab with Allagash Brewing). This offering was very complex with nice sour notes. I followed it up with "DDH SFY" (Double Dry-Hopped Hazy Double IPA). It had delicious tropical fruit notes. Overall, I was impressed with my visit to Threes. I was here for a beer festival so I got to try many different beers but Threes has alot of awesome beers they make themselves! This brewery has an outdoor space which is perfect for nice summer evenings to catch up with friends while enjoying wonderful brews. A local Park Slope/Gowanus neighborhood brewery with great indoor/outdoor space. There are long tables, booths and smaller tables, and bar seating. They offer a variety of their own beers and a few guest drink selections, i.e. ciders, seltzers. The vibe is laid back and a reflection of the neighborhood, including families. All the servers were nice and friendly. They do serve food , which is much better than typical bar food. Food is ordered in the front area , and they bring it your table. While Gowanus is "technically" included in the Park Slope neighborhood, it feels like its own separate entity. Park Slope has for the past 20 years been the poster child for urban gentrification, but Gowanus is now super popular as a more family friendly, "up and coming" section and (slightly) more affordable section of Brooklyn. Having only recently starting returning to BKLYN since the pandemic to visit family, some of my relatives decided to hop onto the R train and after a short walk from Union Street hit up Threes Brewing. The overall vibe is very chill and I especially appreciate the industrial design motif within the main building, complete with poured concrete flooring, and exposed duct work. There is also additional seating upstairs which can be reserved for private events. But since we were a larger group we were lucky to snag one of the longer picnic tables in the back outdoor seating area. The crowd at Threes Brewing definitely reflects the area, since it's less of a hipster Millennial / Gen-Z hangout spot, and more neighborhood hangout. There were families with young kids with their strollers parked outside the tent, while other tables were filled with 20-somethings were engrossed playing cards. We mainly stuck with the Vliet pilsner and the Logical Conclusion IPA, since that's what the bartender recommended was good on draft. While classified as an IPA, the Logical Conclusion was that hoppy with notes of ripe peach, earthy botanicals. While I usually prefer heavier beers, the Vilet had a nice clean crisp finish and was brewed in the style of a German pilsner malt. If you're looking for great place to hang out, meet up with friends, and enjoy some excellent micro brews in the Park Slope-ish area, definitely check out Threes Brewing. read more

Threes is a solid brewery. It's a pretty big space with tables both large and small which make it good for both a group of friends or for if you come with just one other person. We swung by here before getting dinner in the area and chose to get 4 5oz pours and a can to split. While they were all good, my favorite was the apricot beer. I've been here a few times. The vibe is great for the summer/spring and sometimes they have live music. On Sunday evenings, there's a bartender (hipster looking, glasses, wearing a hat that looks like Ash's from pokemon) who has a bad attitude. First of all, they don't have menus or QR codes sitting around, so people are forced to look on their phones. I ordered a mocktail from the online menu, and I got an alcoholic drink. I brought it back and kindly asked if it had alcohol in it. He kind of scoffed and made it seem like a huge deal, which felt unnecessary as there were no menus. He remade my drink and was very snarky. Nice beer drinking adventure with this brewery! Steve and I had a couple beers from this place in which we enjoyed considerably. We went on the lighter side with this brewery experience as we often do because overall we prefer light beers these days. Courage My Love was the first beer we had. It was a hoppy lager which we liked fairly well. Sometimes with hoppy lagers you get the flavor of hops more than anything else and don't pick up on the lager features because the hops are just way too dominating but in this case it was well balanced. The other beer was the Yore. A Czech style pilsner that we liked as well. Again well balanced in all the aspects in flavor and meeting everything in flavor profile it should be going for. I found this place through a combination of sources that collectively all had Threes Brewing on their "best burgers in Brooklyn" list, not to mention it came up high when I searched for burgers on Yelp. I had just been absolutely craving one and it truly did not disappoint. Is it the best burger I've ever had? No - but is it the best burger I've had in Brooklyn? It's probably up there. First off, I love that the burger is on a classic bun and one you can actually pick up with your hands and fit in your mouth without being a gigantic mess of massive bread that you don't know what to do with. The meat was cooked juicy and tender, topped with melted cheese and a sauce that really enhanced the flavor - almost tasted like a relishy/thousand island kind of flavor and was very tasty. On top of that, the fries were excellent. They were cooked to perfect crispy and salty perfection. Threes offers tons of their own beers as well as a few from the outside - it wasn't one of theirs, but I ordered a super tasty canned Talea blackberry beer I'd love to get again. Finally, the service was excellent. The process is that you see a QR code on your table and you order and pay at your table, but you can also go inside to order drinks. Three's is a great place to hang out in Brooklyn. We used to come here a lot pre-COVID, and it was veryyy crowded on the weekends, but if you can snag a table then it's a good time. During COVID, they've made some changes to accommodate the new policies. You can now reserve a spot in the outdoor garden area in the back (entrance on Butler st) OR first come first serve in the front area. We tried to come without a res, and all the tables were filled already. But making a reservation is fairly easy for the weekend if you do it during the week. The outdoor backyard is actually really nice with the tables spread out apart. And I think I saw heaters above for when it gets chilly. There's a QR code on the table to order food (NY law, if you're getting drinks). And it's ACTUAL food, not just chips like Finback and Strong Rope)! And then there's a separate place to order drinks. In general, Three's beers are just aite for me, but the atmosphere and the fact that they sell liquor/wine/other non-beer drinks keep me coming back!
