The broths are rich and flavorful, the ingredients are fresh, and there are so many options to build the perfect hot pot every time. Whether we're craving something spicy and numbing or a more savory, cozy soup base, it never disappoints. The atmosphere makes it even better -- it's the kind of place where you can sit, take your time, and really enjoy the meal with good company. Service is always smooth, and everything comes out quickly. If you're looking for a reliable, comforting hot pot spot that you'll want to visit again and again, Lao Ma Tou is it for us.

Today, my coworkers finally persuaded me to give it a try since the weather is cooler & I feel very silly now. The exterior and interior decor of this place is on point with the bold red and lanterns. It really sets the mood. Service was exceptional during lunch (wasn't too busy). The staff helped change out dirty plates often. Everything was clean. They were helpful in explaining the AYCE menu. The only problem I experienced is how slow the virtual menu was to load and long buffers between each click. At one point it stopped working to reorder so the waitress had to do it manually anyway. We got the half tomato (light spice) and half spicy soup (mild) base and both were really good! I might upgrade to med next time. The meat quality was great, esp the 1 wagyu plate per person that comes with AYCE. Surprisingly the fatty beef was so tender as well. Even the mala beef didn't hurt going in...or out. The bellflower veggie is a must try. Never had this crunchy vegetable before. Love the self serve bar with so many desserts and Chinese chips options.

My friends and I came here for the first time for lunch on Sunday around 12:30PM. We were pleasantly surprised that the lunch AYCE price was $25/person. They have a self service model for most of the meats/veggies/noodles as well as the sauce bar. You can also order appetizers and thinly sliced meat through their QR code. There were some snacks near the sauce bar such as freshly fried mantou and shrimp chips as well as bing fen and fresh fruit for a refreshing end of the meal treat. Everything was super fresh. The meatballs and beef belly were especially good and the spicy broth had the perfect amount of spice and flavor to it. I definitely would come here again to eat! One of the items that you can order has a peanut topping on it and the host was considerate to notify us about it. Upon hearing that one of our party members was allergic to peanuts, they came back with some freshly made without the peanut on it. Such wonderful service.

However, SLICED proteins such as sliced ribeye beef, sliced prime USDA beef, and sliced pork are restricted to 3 dishes per order, must be order by request, and are prepared in the kitchen. Portions are small and not sufficient for two or more people. When we tried to order a second round, only two dishes arrived out of the 3. On the third attempt, nothing arrived at all. On top of that, the wait time for sliced proteins was extremely long. While the menu is promoted as AYCE, the service appears to intentionally slow down and limit access to the main protein items, which is misleading and disappointing.

We did the Diamond $88 AYCE sukiyaki with some of the freshest meats and sashimi. We picked Otoro and A5 Wagyu tartare with caviar and it was deeelicious! Between the A5 ribeye and triple orders of Wagyu nigiri with foie gras and caviar plus several bluefin nigiris, we were truly satisfied and couldn't even think of having another meal for a couple of days.... we were so happy to satisfy our sukiyaki craving. They also have a section for unlimited veggies, noodles, side dishes, MILK tea, rice, ground Wagyu curry, every sauce imaginable and of course ice cream! It was quite a treat. We reserved on Yelp. We highly recommend 100% percent for a nice soupy, meaty, nigiri kind of date!

This means that after the end of May, you likely won't be able to use your Chubby Club membership there anymore and will instead need to purchase Yumiyaki's own membership. I've also noticed they are extremely strict with the time limit. For example, with a 90-minute dining limit, they may start asking for last call or preparing to kick you out around the 60-minute mark. The restaurant layout is also very tight. There's barely enough space for parties larger than 4 people. If you come with 5 or 6 people or more, good luck -- you'll probably either be seated in the walkway or split into two separate tables, whether they're next to each other or not. You're mainly getting the better quality meat from the "one per person" menu items. So the advertised A5 Wagyu experience isn't really what you continue getting if you choose the Diamond or higher tiers while dining in. Once your limited one-per-person items are finished, the rest of the menu is mostly average-quality meat. The sushi also doesn't taste very fresh, but it's still acceptable overall.
