This site was located directly across from our Airbnb, near the Howard/St Charles streetcar stop... So needless to say we visited several times during our stay. Plenty of interesting quality wines starting under $20 and up.. They also have a small deli case with cheese and charcuterie items to take along with your wine. There are a couple steps up into the building if I remember correctly. But once inside you'll see a charming old library like environment with floor to ceiling wines! Spectacular shop. Whenever I'm in town I stop in to look around and find something new. Might have the largest amaro collection I've seen. Truly excellent spirits selection. Also excellent wine selections. Well-chosen by true wine people. This might sound odd, but a lot of wine stores rely on their wholesalers and you can see it in the selections. The service also sets this shop apart. You can always talk to the owner who knows what he's selling. He'll tell you if he's tried it or not. He knows what he's doing. The shop is always welcoming and has that high level of service where it's there if you need it. You can walk in and grab a beverage or you can get an opinion on sparkling Alsatian wines. In town for the weekend so I googled liquor/whiskey around me and saw great reviews here. I popped in and took a long look around before asking some questions. The staff was very helpful. They had several store picks on hand as well as a great assortment of whiskey. I ended up with a Ragged Branch Rye store pick as well as a bottle of a New Orleans made Bywater Bourbon. I brought my wife back the next day and we got a bottle of her favorite wine. The deflection of cocktail mixers and syrups and all that was impressive as well. The staff is obviously very knowledgeable. We'll be coming back on future trips into the city. read more

If you're looking for a cozy and cute wine and liquor store in New Orleans this is it! Came here for a Bachelorette party and the gentlemen in the store were very knowledgeable on their liquors. They were friendly and helpful. Any questions we had they addressed them and made sure we were taken care of. Came here twice over the weekend and would come here again. Fairly small space so it can get crowded during their Thursday evening [free] tastings but at other times you'll always get great customer service and have access to a bunch of fantastic quality food & drink. The cheese & salumi selection is limited but great which will often bring me into the store for cocktail hour fare (Keife & Co. isn't nearly as large as St. James but all the cheeses are great, the service is MUCH better, and prices are listed so you know the cost before you buy) . While in the store you need to check out the wine which is a somewhat small but excellent selection and spirits which is one of the largest selections you'll find anywhere (including virtually every type of liquor plus tons of different bitters, etc.). Also of note, the matching food items are well suited for the store and go extremely well with your wine, cocktails, and cheese. This is not a discount shop so many of the items aren't necessarily cheap, but they do carry a very large selection of fantastic wines under $20 and everything in the store is well curated and incredibly high quality. Even a well versed oenophile won't be fully familiar with all the wines or regions on the shelves at Keife & Co. but ask for advice and you'll find some of the best values in town. I have yet to find a store anywhere in the country as well done as Keife & Co. This place is absolutely worth a trip and whether you're a novice or connoisseur of wine, spirits, or cheese you'll be treated with professionalism and will walk out with great stuff. They also participate in the NOLA Spirit Exchange which means that they are one of 3 other spots in NOLA (Yes, Barrel Proof is another) that will purchase a barrel from the distillery and serve/sell specialty blended and bottled Bourbons for the most special of sipping and mixing occasions. The owners pain stakingly taste -tested everything in their store which is nice if you want to try something new -they have first hand experience! I was impressed with the prices and selection. They have something for every budget. At first I thought they may be high end only because of the location but it wasn't the case. Very friendly customer service. If you're looking for whipped cream vodka or a case of Bud Light, this is not the place. For a cocktail and whiskey fanatic in New Orleans, Keife & Co is a dream come true. For years, I have relied on internet orders to get the stuff that just doesn't make it to NOLA area stores. This store has greatly assuaged that reliance. Not just that, but the owners are so awesome and invested in their products that they have introduced me to a dozen new products by recommendation or an outright taste test. It's not that their selection is exhaustive; the store is small (but not cramped) and space is limited. However, the soaring ceilings and library shelves make for a high-end presentation that's easy to browse. If I was more of a wine drinker, I might move next door, as their weekly tastings are very pleasant affairs. Overall, prices are fair to high, but I forgive this because of the outstanding service and selection. This store has my highest recommendation. read more

After two years of being a regular customer it is time to update my review. This place like the wine that is offered just gets better with age. The owners continue to not only supply a wide and reasonably priced selection of wine but also assist in finding out of the way wines you may want to try. The meat, bread, and other tasty treats are also great for a private get together with the love of your life or for a larger gathering. Reminder they are on vacation until August 25 when it is time to stock up for the cooler weather that will be approaching. And the Thursday wine tastings are the best bargain in town. read more

I was there a couple of days ago, on Monday. I was preparing a very special dinner for someone I really wanted to impress, and my heart sunk as I drove up and realized they were closed on Mondays. I saw movement inside so I took a chance and called. The response couldn't have been more gracious! They were closed but, when I explained my situation, I was not only invited in but also assisted with two very fine selections. The wine was as delicious as it was talked up to be and we enjoyed it so much, that we didn't even open the second varietal. I'll save that for next time. Bottom line, this experience was the epitome of hospitality and I will be forever grateful! Now I'm looking forward to returning when they are open, so that I can spend a day in there just looking around and learning about more wines! read more

After visiting a number of other liquor stores around the city, I called Cure to find out where the place to visit is. They said hands down that it was Keife & Co. They were so right. The store is small in square footage but packed with choices. The floor to ceiling selection not only includes spirits but wine, beer & tasty European treats (cured meats, cheese, etc). I wanted to buy about 16 different bottles but was nervous to check them on my bag. Guess what, they ship. You need to call them but it's worth it. In the end, I bought 6 bottles including some bitters and have been enjoying the spoils ever since. Well worth the trip to make your own home craft cocktails. read more

Finally attended one of their weekly tastings. Had a great time. Sipped some wine. Made a new friend or 5. Sadly, I was rushed out by my companion due to a dinner date and didn't get to purchase the wine I wanted. I've been hunting for Chinese Rose Wine for two and a half years. I flew to NOLA from Boston and visited French Bar 75 and talked to mixologist Chris Hannah. I asked him if there was a merchant in NOLA where I could buy local spirits, bitters, and gifts to bring home. He turned me on to John at Keife and company. This merchant has hard to find spirits, bitters, honey, wine, cheese, and other gifts that you won't find anywhere else. I made my selections and I didn't want to pack them in my suitcase so I had the items shipped home. John exceeded my expectations as a merchant for his outstanding customer service. I would not hesitate to call from home again to order and have them ship to me or stop by when I'm in the area. read more
