Local guitarist was playing a set for diners that afternoon on the stage. Front of the house full of different wines and the guy behind the counter was nice enough to suggest a good pairing with what we ordered to eat. My grilled pork chop with balsamic reduction was excellent. The perfect cut for such a dish. My wife loved her orechiette pasta and appetizer plate of olives. We kept it simple since we had just finished a heavy dinner, so we went in, grabbed a chilled bottle, & ordered the duck fat popcorn. Sometimes the simplest moments end up being the best ones. The wine was perfectly chilled and easy to enjoy, & that popcorn deserves its own spotlight on the menu. Rich, crisp, and addictive in the best way. I love this Maple Street location of Delachaise. A longtime fan of the St. Charles location (13 years, in fact), I appreciate that this spot has full table service while the OG is order at the bar. So many unique drinks and similar to the other Delachaise, expect to be impressed with the wines by the glass. I always appreciate a good glass of Sangiovese. I haven't checked out the food menu in a while at St. Charles, but I never seemed to be able to find anything vegan. There's vegan Buffalo cauliflower here, which I'll have to try next time. We ordered olives but they weren't really to my liking (cold, tasting strongly of vinegar rather than herbs and too many of the tiny black ones taking up space. I love Castelvetrano olives and there weren't any in the serving). Service is just so so nice. Really perfect. Can't wait to come back for more wine and an evening on the patio.
