Can't say enough about this lovely cocktail/coffee bar. The space is sleek and simultaneously cozy. They have an excellent coffee menu as well as cocktails and a nice wine selection. All-around excellent, I have a French 75. It was delicious. It was made with love the environment is nice. It's right across the street from a restaurant that I love. My only recommendation is that they should probably pre-batch some of those drinks cause they are so dang good but I wouldn't wanna wait if it was a busy night. I will be back. Dovetail is definitely my favorite place to get Espresso Martinis. I am not a vodka drinker, so I love that they make theirs with rum, and they always have it on draft. It's the perfect ratio. They also have other unique cocktails, that are just as great and the bartenders definitely work their magic! The service is typically very friendly, though I have had a few mid experiences. I've been meaning to stop back by for a while, and the opportunity finally presented itself and I wasn't disappointed! This coffee shop turns into a bar at 3pm (closed 2-3pm). The drinks here are yummy but on the pricier side. I got the Brazilian Skies, which is a tropical-tasting drink that has notes of vanilla (from the ube). I can't speak for the coffee, but the drinks are wonderful. I have a long list of cocktail bars through New Orleans and Dovetail has been on my list for a while and it did not disappoint! The vibe is laid back, the space looks very nice, and the location is perfect. The service was outstanding. They were 2 bar tenders running the bar and they were efficient. I had a lot of question about the drink menu and they answered them all with a smile and gave great suggestions. That's all ways a plus makes you want to come back. The drinks were outstanding! We tried 4 different ones. Up first was the "Between the Boards" if you like Mezcal this would be your drink so refreshing but still stout the citrus and Hibiscus pairs excellent together. Next we had the "Burro No Barracho" this is a non alcoholic drink but we added tequila. That made it a Mexican mule, my first time having one it didn't disappoint. You can expect out your traditional Moscow mule but with tequila. The third drink was the "Sandlewood" a nice Caribbean Rum cocktail reminds me so much of a rum punch with a slight twist. But it looks completely different it might've been my favorite of the night. The Last drink of the night was the "Shiso Fly" it had Japanese rum Thai basil, Lemon Grass, Lime, and Thai Spice in it. This bar was a fabulous find on my last night in New Orleans. Only a 10 minute walk from my hotel, and everything was wonderful from the space to the service to the cocktails! The bar is very welcoming and pretty, with great seating space both at the bar and throughout the area. The bartenders were nice and quick, and we made good conversation. Service was superb! The bartender will create a cocktail just for you based on your desires. I had a whiskey sour without egg white. It was pretty good. I topped off the evening with a Sazerac, a New Orleans favorite. He said he made the best in New Orleans, and he didn't lie. It was divine. Much stronger than others experienced throughout the French Quarter. This is a great spot to stop in for a drink. There is no food, so come prepared. It's great to stay somewhere where there is at least a bar downstairs that closes at midnight. Other patrons stopped in from the nearby hotel. As a local business owner born and raised in Treme, I've brought many tourists to this establishment over the years--often highlighting it as a stop on my cultural tours. I've supported them repeatedly, giving them business and overlooking smaller issues for the greater good of building community. But what happened today was absolutely unacceptable, and I can no longer stay silent. One of my guests--a Black woman visiting from out of town--entered the location and called me while inside, simply looking to use the restroom. She was unaware of a water issue. Instead of kindly explaining the situation, the bartender (Jay) yelled at her across the room, saying, "Our restroom is not available!" in a rude and aggressive tone that was completely uncalled for. She was caught off guard and didn't know how to respond, especially being unfamiliar with the area. I heard everything over the phone and immediately walked in to address it--and was met with even more hostility, this time from a female staff member who began shouting at me. No professionalism, no respect, just open aggression. This is not an isolated incident. I've noticed on several occasions that my mostly African American guests are treated with indifference or even subtle disrespect. This time, it was blatant. What makes it worse is how they try to hide this behind polite behavior when it benefits them. But if you're paying attention, the racism is there--it's just coded and passive until moments like today make it undeniable. I had to force the bartender to apologize to my guest--something that should've happened without pressure. No one, especially a Black woman, should be treated like that in a city built on Black culture. I've posted a video of this incident so people can see the truth for themselves. This isn't a fake or exaggerated review--it's firsthand experience. No signs was posted and basically they think they can handle people any kind of way and that's not acceptable. The drink itself was decent, but the service completely ruined the experience. There were two bartenders on staff, and neither acted like they cared about helping customers. The bar was not overly crowded, but people all around us were waiting far too long for service. I waited about 20 minutes, tried speaking up more than once, and was still ignored. Dovetail is a nice spot. I'd give it a 3.8 overall. Let's talk about the pros: the space is super cute! The colors and designs are sort of funky and give a transformative vibe from Rampart St when you walk in. The bartenders are passionate about their art and make tasty, cutely crafted drinks. And, they play nice music! Last, I've met some really cool people (from locals to those from different continents) since the bar is attached to a Sonder. It's a cool experience! The not so great: the drinks are pricey for Nola and they don't have happy hour...whomp, lol. The bar is already pretty small and recently, they taken chairs from 1/3 of the bar to make it a walk-up area. If I'm solo and there are no chairs at the bar, I'm leaving. There's def ample seating in the lounge area, but nothing beats pulling up at the bar. And speaking of pulling up, depending on the night, parking in the Rampart area can be a pain. So, I'd suggest Dovetail for a weeknight when the area is pretty slow and you can likely grab a seat at the bar. read more

Super cute bar that's decorated so beautifully. We were fortunate to find this gem after leaving Essence fest on day one as it was storming badly outside and flooding some parts of the street. The bartenders were helpful, friendly, and made delicious drinks. The espresso martini was pretty good- came from tap and was accompanied by a piece of dark chocolate. We stayed at Sonder the Schaeffer (the attached hotel that houses Dovetail in its lobby) and I'm grateful, because who knows if we would've stumbled on this hidden gem otherwise! Although we never visited during coffee shop hours, nighttime was ALWAYS a vibe! The staff, patrons, ambiance, and overall vibe were 10/10 and made for the perfect evening "out" just steps away from our hotel room. We were lucky enough to be staying during a Rabbit Hole Bourbon Tasting night and got to try some wonderful bourbons/whiskeys (aka my love language!) as well as some dishes being sold right out front during the event. Cute bar in front of some AirBnBs. They have speciality cocktails that are both pretty and delicious. I tried the Jungle Bird which is like a rum punch, and the Juice #2 which is like a spicy margarita. I visited for a birthday gathering and it started out with one bartend who was swamped, but another showed up and eased things not that much lol. There was a wait for drinks since these cocktails appear to be art to them. There was plenty of sitting areas to accommodate a large group or a more intimate group. I am told there a usually pop ups but the one was cancelled the day I went. If you need something to eat, they do allow outside food to be brought in or delivered. It was supposedly a singles event and was decorated very beautifully with roses and hearts with messages on them. The drinks were absolutely amazing and well crafted by the mixologist. This specific event took place on a Monday night, so most of the patrons were in the bartending industry and knew each other. I believe it may have been an event for bartenders also?
