I searched throughout my insurance network and this was the one podiatrist office that didn't complicate getting an appointment. I was able to get an appointment with only a short wait time. The office is located in a convenient location, it's right off Lincoln Ave and a block off Damen. There is a train stop, Irving Park, not to far from the office and several buses run near the office. It was easy to get to the office. During my visit I was paired with Dr. Heidi Hoffman, she is amazing! I arrived a few minutes before they opened and Dr. Heidi Hoffman allowed me to come in so I didn't have to wait outside. She was friendly and very educational. As I mentioned above, I came into the office for toe pain that was making it hard to use shoes. She listened to my issue and quickly noticed what could be causing the pain. She was able to give me a instant short-term pain relief and gathered whatever was needed for additional tests. She was also able to help me understand more things about my foot. After the appointment, I was updated roughly a week later about the results of the test and given instructions on how to deal with the continuous toe trauma that she discovered. It's been a few months and my toe barely aches when I put on shoes. I can press on the toe that had the issue and it doesn't hurt. It was the complete opposite a few short months ago. I would highly recommend coming to Lincoln Foot and Ankle Center for all of your needs.

Then a few days later called to say he ran my insurance and xyz is what would be covered for custom orthotics and asked when could I come in for measurements. It felt shady so I decided to go somewhere else. Then I went to Dr. Hoffman. She spent a lot of time with me. She took x-rays and went over them with me. We talked about my foot shape and what I should be looking for in a shoe. She recommended going to Fleet Feet for a (free) foot measurement and shoe consultation. She then made a conservative plan of treatment (better shoes, stretches, PT) that could be elevated to custom orthotics if this doesn't work. She diagnosed a nerve issue that can only really be treated by PT/form change while exercising (aka not orthotics). She was encouraging of PT ASAP because as I've had a baby this year...I've already hit my insurance out of pocket max. It's a small thing but just made me feel confident that she was looking out for my best interests. She also gave me personal anecdotes about her own experience with plantar fasciitis as it related to my own case that made me feel hopeful and like I won't be in pain forever. I really value feeling "cared for" by the medical professionals I see, and this is what I got from Dr. Hoffman.

I went in to get some calluses treated and check on a plantar wart (and phew, it wasn't one). He explained why I get the calluses and various home treatments I could do to lessen their build-up. I came to this clinic for a couple pairs of new orthotics. They cost the typical price, about…read more$800, which was partially covered by insurance. The orthotics needed to be adjusted several times, to get them to fit properly. Each time I returned for an adjustment, each appointment within 1 month of initially receiving them, I was charged a co-pay. I felt like I was being charged to correct something that should have been guaranteed to fit. Basically, they charged me and my insurance each time to send the orthotics back to the lab to be adjusted. And each time my orthotics were sent out, they took about 2 weeks to get back to the clinic. On top of this, the clinic seems to occasionally over charge. I end up with some credits on my account, which I was never told about. They did not offer to issue a refund check. Which reminds me, it's been more than a year since my last visit and according to my health insurance they still owe me a credit. They've never contacted me about this, basically leaving it up to me to track my refund down. On a positive note, Dr Glick and Dr Tsatsos did an excellent job informing and educating me about my foot structural issues. They gave me a lot of information on how to find shoes that fit and don't exacerbate my issues.

I knew this was the doctor my husband needed, but the doctor didn't yet know how true that was. Importantly, the doctor listened to me. I explained that my husband is not a good patient. I mean he is not good at reporting his own condition, he's not likely to ever schedule any kind of doctor's appointment, and he's most likely to resist suggestions, especially from me. I explained all that to Dr A, asking him if he would master the situation so that my husband would see himself as having a man to man conversation. This is the type of relationship my husband will respond to, and I know he will do what the doctor says if he has this kind of one-on-one. I was blown away watching this seasoned physician (who had treated my elderly father with such expert care and sweetness) take on the role of the gentle shaman, advising my husband about taking stewardship of his own physical wellbeing, improving his ability to enjoy the latter part of his life with more relaxed mobility and in better health all around. People complain a lot about doctors who don't listen, so that's already something that sets Dr. A apart. But his agreement to take extra measures to work with a patient's particular psychology is giving "above and beyond" a new definition.

Scheduling was disorganized, I had to go in person to adjust my appointment, and even then I never received a confirmation or follow-up. The front desk staff was also not very helpful and came across as dismissive, which made the process more frustrating than it needed to be. The bigger issue for me was the treatment plan. I was advised to have both big toes treated at the same time, which didn't feel like the right approach for recovery. After getting a second opinion, I chose Dr. Williams at Foot and Ankle who spaced the procedures out, and that made a significant difference in my overall experience. In hindsight, I'm glad I went a different route. I'd recommend getting a second opinion if you're considering a similar procedure.

While I handed him the credentials he requested, I mentioned to him that there is no need to be rude, and he needs to lose his attitude. At that point, he waved his little arm in the air and told me 'you might as well go home girlfriend because your appointment is officially canceled', he proceeded to get up, turned the lights off and locked me in the office while he called security to have removed from the building. Listen we all have problems, but maybe him arguing with his boyfriend on the cell phone in the hallway isn't a very professional thing to be doing while he should be working and treating new clients and senior citizens with respect. This was very shameful and very embarrassing for this office that they would allow staff to treat their clients with such disregard to integrity and even being kind. While I was locked in the waiting room, I tried calling the office, which is the only phone number they give you to speak with a manager who has so far never returned my call, it is very apparent that this facility has very poor management. I guess I won't be holding my breath on the return phone call.

When I see him for an ailment, typically felt when weightlifting, he immediately has an idea of the root cause (it helps that he's a powerlifter) and quickly validates in a few minutes. He adjusts and provides the mobility exercises to do on my own and within a few weeks, I'm feeling great! I only see him a few times per year, when something is off. I go for a few weeks (and do my mobility work on my own) and we're done. He doesn't make me visit him weekly, etc. which I found with others. No weekly adjustments, at least for me. He tells me what to work on at home for mobility. Just come in whenever something is off and he'll fix you. On top of his knowledge and professionalism, he makes each session enjoyable and engaging through humor, compassion and conviction. Paul is committed to helping me get better quickly and I can feel that when working with him. I couldn't recommend anyone better.
