Awesome park! Perfect place for kids to get their energy out while parents can sit and have a picnic over looking the ocean! Several slides, lots of swings, plenty of things to climb. They have bathrooms nearby. The paved walking path is steps away from the park. There is a large grassy area to relax or there is the beach on the other side to relax. There is a very small parking lot and street parking. We will be back!

I'm going to give this park 5 stars, not because I've used it, but because it is always mobbed with kids. Let's face it, if it was bad, parents wouldn't bring their kids there. And judging from the fact that I just stayed at LJShores Hotel and the screaming from happy kids was almost unbearable, it's got to be a damn good park! Plus, it's right on the beach with bathrooms on site.

Great little park. There is a grassy area with a playground and picnic tables. Ample parking. A huge white sands beach with restrooms and showers available. Nearby you have several rental shops to get kayaks, stand up paddle boards, or skuba/snorkeling gear. Just rent, take tour or even a class. If you get out on the water you can get up close and personal with leopard sharks (they are harmless), sea caves, or explore the large kelp beds with wildlife. We saw a lot of sea lions, harbor seals, and all kinda of fishies. Others said they saw a pod of dolphins earlier in the day but we missed them. Nearby you also have a lot of restaurants so perfect place to spend the entire day. So c'mon down to play, relax, spend the day on the water or watch a beautiful sunset.

Desperately looking for a park and came across this cute little gem. Right by the shore, it has a perfect breeze. It has a lower jungle gym and a higher one. Rope net to climb. Things to sit on. Grass to play in.. just so much fun! :) it's pretty well kept up. Not dirty like many parks. We will definitely be back!!

    On a Tuesday.

After we were doing doing some basic tourist-y things, I hopped on Yelp in search of a few parks located withing the vicinity. Maruta Gardner Playgound seemed to be the most entertaining and appropriate for my wild child. Parking was plentiful and the size of this particular playground was great. Not only was the look and design very unique, you really couldn't ask for a better view. Seating was plentiful and again, the design of things were so cool. Shade is easily found and the play structure is great for children + adults of all ages. Lastly, there are restrooms and water fountain located not too far. Shout out to Ms. Maruta Gardner!! OBSESSED! I came here when I first moved to SD and somehow forgot just how gorgeous this park is…read more I've been back twice recently and just soaked it all in. The weather was perfect, sun was out and it was one of those places where it's easy to lose track of time. Sooo soo peaceful ! One disclaimer.. be careful where you walk and where you step. There's a pretty big gap between the grass and the edge of the pavement in one area that is easily hidden. I wasn't paying attention, tripped and scraped both of my knees. Thankfully my ankle ended up being okay after icing it at home. Be careful lol. There's so much space in the park so don't worry about nabbing a great spot. Bring a blanket or beach chair, have a picnic, take in the city views, or just sit and relax for a while. Before you get all the way up the main overlook, there's a large flat grassy area before you enter that looked perfect for birthday parties or small get togethers. Both times I visited were during the day and it wasn't crowded. I did see quite a few people sunbathing lol don't think I've ever seen that at a park before. If you're looking for a peaceful spot to unwind and enjoy some of the best views in San Diego, definitely make some time for Kate Sessions Park!

I enjoy bringing a blanket, relaxing on the grass, and looking up at the beautiful sky. It's the perfect place to spend some quiet time alone or gather with family and friends. The park is very clean, well-maintained, and has a playground for kids. I highly recommend this park if you're looking for a peaceful place to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy some beautiful views.

I came here at 6:45am and was able to find parking literally right at the cove, so come early, its worth it. Lots of wildlife hanging out there. I saw a bunch of sea lions sleeping, tons of cormorants and lots of badass pelicans flying and scooping down for food. By 7am, I was in the water and there were already plenty of people here. I tried out my wetsuit with all my gear and everything worked well. I wasn't too hot in my 4/3 wetsuits. Visibility was crap today and couldn't see much. I'll have to come back again to see if visibility improves. I got out in 30 minutes, no point wasting time with cloudiness. I used the local showers to get the sand and saltwater off myself and gear. Public bathrooms also available. After getting out, I walked around a bit and it was a lovely day. Beautiful area, no wonder everyone likes coming here. I'll be back!
