During his inspection he also found an issue with our dryer vent not being properly hooked up which is not something we would have noticed on our own. He was right on time in his time window, was very friendly, took the time to explain things to me, and most importantly was in and out in a few hours. Their Google reviews are almost perfect -- yet everyone I've talked to says the exact same thing: their real-life service does NOT match their ratings. Maybe some reviews are real, but certainly not all. Now for my experience, which was absolutely infuriating: Jeremy came to my home and quoted me $2,700 just to convert two lights into ceiling fans and replace one GFCI outlet. The prices they charged were beyond ridiculous: $300 for ONE GFCI $150 for a simple light switch $500 EACH for two fan brackets ($1,000 total) -- brackets that cost $23 retail That's not a markup. That is taking advantage of people. Their behavior was just as bad as their pricing. They show all prices on an iPad. When I was on the phone asking someone if this sounded normal, Jeremy literally snatched the iPad out of my hand the second I finished talking. He guarded that iPad like his life depended on it because he knew the pricing was outrageous. Completely disrespectful and incredibly unprofessional. I asked for an itemized invoice with real part numbers and real labor charges. Jeremy told me, "I'll email it to you." I still have nothing. The only invoice I received was written in vague "units" -- a convenient way to avoid transparency and hide price gouging. And the worst of all: They quoted me $19,000 -- yes, NINETEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS -- to upgrade my electrical panel from a split 60/120 amp setup to a standard 200 amp box. Other electricians quoted between $2,500-$4,500. Randy's Electric wasn't just high -- they were five to seven times the normal price. That is predatory and absolutely shameful. The owner even came out trying to justify the $500 brackets by saying they "add a yellow tag to every bracket." Later I learned that the yellow tag is just the manufacturer's tag that comes with the bracket. Nothing more. Another excuse. Another lie. Since this happened, I've talked to so many people -- and not a single person has had a positive experience with this company. Everyone says the same thing: overpriced, shady, rude, and preying on people who don't know electrical costs. Jeremy and the owner should be ashamed of themselves for the way they treat people and for the way they conduct business. It is absolutely disgusting behavior. Randy's Electric preys on the unknowledgeable, the vulnerable, and the people who genuinely need help. Their lack of transparency, their predatory pricing, and their disrespect toward customers say everything you need to know. If this review stops even ONE person from being taken advantage of the way I was, then it's worth writing twice -- because Yelp deleted the first one. I was informed prior to arrival, that there would be a quote fee, and that if I went with the job, that quote fee would be applied to the final job (effectively eliminating the quote fee). I hate it when companies do this, as it feels like I'm being pressured to not seek competing quotes. But I also get it: people don't work for free, and sending someone out takes gas and time that could otherwise be generating revenue. So as much as I don't like it, as I said I get it. What I don't get is that a couple of times the guy that came to do the quote (and eventually did the drain work that I needed done immediately) needed to call a master plumber a couple of times, and for a separate job of galvanized supply pipe replacement, a quote could only be provided in a range without an on-site visit from said master plumber. So that's where I have a bit of a sticking point - if you want to charge for a quote, that's totally fine. But don't send people that can't provide a total quote without being to consult with a master plumber, and can't provide a complete quote for the scope of a job. If you want to send out junior plumbers to handle basic quote work, that's totally fine. But you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want to send a junior plumber, those quotes should be free, with the paid quote coming when a master plumber has to take a look. I would totally recommend R.T.S.R. to handle any plumbing job, but I really do think their quoting practices need a bit of an examination.
