We have had the Sewer Rat team out to our house before and were extremely pleased with the result. We especially appreciated their down to earth pricing and approach after having a "bigger name" plumber come out and quote us over $15k for redoing our entire system. Our annual main sewer line cleanout was $380 (a fraction of what we've had to pay for emergency services in the past, SUCH a deal) - we live in an area where our pipes are made of clay, so roots grow through the pipes and we need to get them cleared out regularly. We are going through a lot right now - we have an infant, I am postpartum, and our house is a mess right now, but the technician took it in stride and even talked with us about their kids. The tec was friendly, personable and appears to have done a good job. However, he was here one hour and the cost was almost $700. This was to install a faucet that we provided and put in a new shut off valve. It is frustrating, when I called to make an appointment, the person could give me absolutely no idea of cost other than a trip charge of $99 to come. I had this company out 2 seperate times to check on water dripping into my garage. Told them I was pretty sure that the leak was coming from the guest bath shower. I requested a tub drain cleaning, My technician said he would give me a sink and tub cleaning for the same price. Once done with the cleaning we had a major leak from the sink that destroyed our dining room ceiling. They sent the technician back with his supervisor and they put a camera and said the house is old and it probably was a cracked pipe. They said a plumber could come out a week later and give me a quote. At the time he said if it's not a cracked pipe they would be responsible. So I took out the the vanity and the wall it was just a coupling that the cleaner had knocked loose while trying to shove the snake down. All I asked was for a refund of the cleaning and said I would put the ceiling and wall back together. They said no. read more

I think the reviews speak for themselves! Great experience from start to finish here. We needed a sewer line cleaned ASAP and they were there the very next day (found the clog at 8PM the previous day). Kyle came to our rescue and even let me watch the entire process so that I could learn what he was doing and why. We unfortunately need a sewer line repair as there was a breakage but he was able to provide some great references! The unclogging and sewer scope combined were about $500 total but from what I've been reading online, that's quite reasonable, so I'm happy with the service! Will definitely be calling these guys again if I have any plumbing issues in the future. read more

Hi. When I contacted Ron the Sewer Rat call center they give you a price, length of sewer line and time it takes. Know that the price is an estimate not a certainty. This is not stated on that initial phone call for an appointment. It is when the technician steps onto the property the "real" price is determined. The first question and statement made by the technician was my sewage stack was in a location in my basement that may mean its more than 100 feet from the street. I may pay more. I live in a 100 year old home in South MPLS it can easily be googled mapped to determined its a standard distance from the street. I also have lived here for 42 years and never had these questions asked before upon receiving this service here in the city. The second statement was it may take more than 1-1/2 hours. Two reasons because of unexpected roots and stuff found and I was asked by the technician how long it had been since my last clean out. This needed to be asked by the initial call center if the length of time since the last clean out was important in terms of price quoted. This time limitation was not described initially by the call center as the limit of time, according to the technician if it takes more than 1-1/2 hours I pay more. Then when I said that I intended to pay $380.00 for my drain clean service for my home that was quoted and no more. That I have lived here for 42 years and have never had these question asked by the technician on site to do this task before. The technician became upset with me because I was upset. The technician played my initial recorded message to the call center in front of me. I guess it was to prove the call center said it was an estimate not a quote. My recorded message the technician played did not prove his point it proved mine. This whole experience strikes me as a scripted sales job. Not a company that makes an assessment of your request and wants to do a job for you at a fair quoted price. I will not be hiring Ron the Sewer Rat again. This is because of the company policy and its communication not because of the job done. I will now know more questions to ask the next time when calling a company to do this job. The technician was just following the script and I assume did a fine job. A job I never would want to do. I just wish the company had more interest in being honest at the beginning phone call when initially making an appointment. I would of appreciated that done at the front end not while the technician was on site. It puts the homeowner in an awkward position and only protects the interests of the company not the homeowner. read more

Ron the sewer rat is really actually the GOAT in the twin cities. I loved that they asked me to send/email them pictures and videos of my water heater to try to diagnose the issue first instead of automatically sending someone out to take a look at it. That was extremely convenient. It was really quick and easy for them to identify the issue-my water heater needed to be replaced as it has outlived past its lifetime. The size tank I required was hard to find since not many of them are produced anymore and it needed to fit in the small space the old one was in. Thanks to Austin's persistence in inquiring about the special size I needed, luckily their supplier had one in stock. I compared quotes with another plumbing company and Ron the sewer rat's was a much better rate. John who installed the tank was really knowledgeable and informative about the process and tank.
