I've been getting acupuncture treatment from Kelly Welch -- for a small variety of health concerns -- for about a month now and can't speak more highly of his care. I can't say that I've ever had such a thorough medical history examination with a traditional medical doctor. It took up about 45 minutes of the first visit and really helped me to feel comfortable about Kelly's knowledge and ability to understand my specific concerns. And, as someone else wrote, he's not limited to acupuncture. He also helps advise on diet and supplements and has an on-site mini Chinese herbal pharmacy. I believe the practice also offers cupping and some other alternative therapies.\ One of my most immediate concerns had to do with my normally horrid seasonal allergies. After just two treatments i was able to put away my allergy medication and now breathe easy. It is the first time I've truly enjoyed a spring in years. Aside from the top notch treatment, everyone in the office is extremely helpful and courteous. They bend over backwards to make sure you're getting the best care possible. And often they'll offer you a cup of freshly-brewed tea, just because. Although I haven't been to see Kelly in awhile, I did regularly go for several years. Kelly was recommended to me by a friend and I had never been to an acupuncturist before. Kelly was very easy going and was very accommodating. Kelly is thorough, calm and honest acupuncturist who is really concerned about the well being of each of his patients. I had been in allergy meds for a long time and wanted to be clear of them. He started me on a acupuncture and Chinese herbal program, which was successful. As someone who had been in allergy meds for several years, I couldn't believe that I didn't need to be on them anymore. He also tried to treat my PMS, but I found this to be a miss. On more than one occasion, I called him for an urgent last-minute appointment from bad migraines and he would fit me in early the morning before he had any other patients or at lunch. His availiability is difficult because he is so popular, so you need to book in advance. But he will try to fit you in if there's an urgent issue that needs to be addressed, such as my migraines. My husband and I also worked with him when we were trying to conceive. Kelly took it upon himself to provide the best care possible and I felt as if he had a genuine, personal interest in helping us conceive. We finally did conceive and Kelly was genuinely happy for us. I continued seeing Kelly during my pregnancy and his work helped me through aches and pains. I actually think that seeing Kelly helped my son to be so healthy. I sent him and his wife a birth announcement as well as some questions about some Chinese herbs that I had. His wife was so nice to call me and congratulate me and give me instructions on the herbs -- especially what not to take during nursing. Unfortunately, I no longer had the time to see Kelly after having my son as I live in Arlington and Kelly's office is in DC. However, I did stop by his office when I was four months along with my second. I was suffering through terrible allergies and although my OB said that claritin was safe to take, I did not wan to take unnecessary meds during my pregnancy. I happened to be in the city and stopped by to ask him if I could have some herbs for my allergies. Kelly was so happy to see me again and hugged me. He gladly provided me with the herbs for my allergies. I wish he had an office in VA somewhere as I would happily go back to see him! read more

I was recommended to Kelly by my doula. I'm pregnant with twins and my doula knew if anyone could help get my second baby from the breeched position to head down, it would Kelly. I had no prior experience with acupuncture and I wasn't sure what to expect. Kelly carefully walked me through the process, asked thorough questions about my background and pregnancy, and made sure I was very comfortable even at 34 weeks pregnant. I went back for only my second appointment yesterday at 36 weeks and found out today my second baby is now head down! Incredible. I'm beyond impressed. Kelly has been amazing. I had pregnancy hypertension that kept my blood pressure around 135-145/80 throughout my pregnancy. I started seeing him in week 34, and by week 36 my BP was down to 108/68!!! Kelly is a great acupuncturist. If you have never tried it before and are curious I suggest you check him out! He even works with some insurance! I went in for allergy treatment (and some other minor issues) and have been VERY happy. He (yes he is a guy) does a great job of taking your full medical history and explaining the process. He is very professional. In a quick scan of his office I noted a "sharps" box like most medical professionals use. Clearly Kelly is the real deal. I tried one other place before and they tried to push herbal supplements and patches on me - for an extra price. Kelly never did. He even gave me a FREE sample of an essential oil when I mentioned that I liked its smell (he used it in the room during treatment.) I never felt rushed. If you can deal with the awful smell in the building (NOT his office) you will be happy. read more

Kelly is extremely gifted and brings a creative, level-head to his practice. He treats the whole person and evaluates your health on every level. If you've never tried acupuncture - it's truly an amazing experience. I had never been to an acupuncturist before seeing Kelly. Within a month, good things just started to happen. Although I have only been going to his acupuncture sessions for a couple of months, I can't recommend Kelly Welch highly enough! I was looking to complement traditional infertility treatment with acupuncture per my RE's recommendation, after three failed IUI cycles, two early miscarriages and two years of TTC. As Welch and Yonkers' acupuncture office is so close to work, I decided to start there. I was skeptical at first and not sure what to expect (despite being of Asian origin), having no previous exposure to acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine. The experience so far has had me pleasantly surprised, to say the least. Initial consultation with Kelly was an extensive discussion of my health background and infertility history, in which he asked thorough questions and took careful notes. That approach continues during subsequent acupuncture sessions. Kelly always asks about where I am in my cycle and any other health concerns, and varies the treatment (placement of needles, with or without electric stim) accordingly. He also prescribes a regular dose of Chinese herbal medication to help my blood flows. After only 3 weeks of seeing him (6 sessions), my lining thickness got the closest to where it's supposed to be than it's ever been, and I conceived that very cycle (IUI no. 4). There will always be identification problem with causality, placebo effect and what not, but I believe acupuncture has made a huge difference in my case. Unfortunately this pregnancy ended early, and Kelly has been a wonderful counselor to me throughout the heartbreaking experience (it was my third miscarriage). In addition to infertility treatment, Kelly has also tried to treat my on-and-off work related stress. It's not always easy to carve out an hour during the day to go to the sessions, but I find doing that has helped make my day's workload more manageable. Overall, Kelly is an outstanding and genuine acupuncturist who is sensitive to his patients' concerns, and an incredibly calm, considerate and amiable person. As an added bonus, his sessions are always pleasant and therapeutic. I will continue to seek Kelly's help to heal from the miscarriage, and as we possibly move on to IVF treatment. And I will be recommending Kelly and acupuncture to everyone I know. read more

Kelly is both very personable and very knowledgeable, both of which are crucial for a patient who comes in for treatment during IVF, especially after having recently suffered the heartbreak of miscarriage. Call it a placebo effect if you want, but I produced more eggs, and the initial fertilization rate was 3x what it was the first round. Also helps with my neck and back pain. I am sold! read more
