My daughter managed to talk me into letting her and two of her friends drive our Volvo XC90 from Portland to San Francisco to move into the dorm to start her freshman year of college. With the car loaded up with everything she needed for school, I was then catching a flight to meet them down there (I'd saved up all of my points) with the plans to drive the car back following move in. Twenty minutes before boarding, I got a call from my daughter that the car - always reliable to date - was now making a funny noise. One minute later the check engine light came on. Five minutes later, my daughter and her friends had been directed to Kellys by the local Les Schwab. Before I had boarded the plane, they had diagnosed the issue, reassured my daughter who was panicked she was going to miss her required orientation, and had immediately sent someone for the needed part - the only one available - that was more than a two hour drive away from the shop. Five stars does not begin to cover it. They kept them updated on progress as the part made its way, and had the car ready so when it did arrive it was a quick install (did I mention the mechanic stayed past his shift to make this possible and ensure she made it on time)? Given the level of service, as a single mom I was bracing myself for the amount of the bill- it was a fraction of what I expected and an incredible value. To top it all off, they called several days later to check in and ensure there were no additional issues. I know it's hard these days to know who you can trust with such commitments as auto repairs - honestly, after how they treated my daughter I would make the drive in the future just to reward the level of service and quality Kelly's represents. I have a Mitsubishi SUV - the closest dealer is in Medford. My beloved Endeavor is over 150,000 and once in awhile little things crop up - like the headlights going out. I had seen the Kelly's at the local Chamber of Commerce Greeters meetings and the Business Fair and liked them so I decided to pop over to Kelly's Automotive to avoid the drive to Medford. During my first visit I was impressed with the immediate service I was given. I was out the door within 30 minutes and felt the bill was extremely reasonable. Not only that, but there were candy dishes full of my favorite chocolate at the registers! A day later I received a hand-written thank you note in the mail! About a week later my other headlight went out and because of the great service I had experienced, I went straght to Kelly's where I had another wonderful experience - fast, professional service and more chocolate! Last night I discovered my one of my headlights had gone out AGAIN. I drove over to Kelly's today without an appointment. Curtis, the Service Manager, told me the bulb was still under warranty and replacing it would be no problem. Even though they were extremely busy, Curtis told me he would "make it work" and, sure enough, I didn't even get time to sit down on the bench outside to enjoy the sunshine before the new bulb was in. Sean, the super technician, remembered me from my previous visits. This man has never been without a smile. You can tell he really enjoys what he does. Needless to say, I was back on the road in record time (but not without helping myself to a few pieces of chocolate.) Our destination was Grants Pass, OR, having reserved an Airbnb for the night. We filled our purposely very empty gas tank with gas that was a $1.50 less per gallon than home. Our car would not start, nothing. AAA came got us started and suggested that our battery was bad go to the chain store where it was purchased and have them check it. While driving to the shop the transmission behaved erratically. The battery checked out ok, it was suggested by the 3 technicians' that the positive cable was bad, they don't do that kind of repair we should go across the street to Kelly's Automotive service. So, at 5:10 pm we arrive at Kelly's sharing our tail of woe to Jared Renko their service advisor. He say's with the lateness of the hour it will be the next morning before they can look at our car BUT not to worry, this is what they do as a business, they will give us a ride to the Airbnb, will call in the am with their findings and come pick us up. I admit that I'm thinking "right". We are chauffeured to our Airbnb, called at 9am with the findings and chauffeured back to Kelly's. The positive battery cable was loose, the transmission behavior was due to the loose battery cable. The bill was presented with a zero balance. I was amazed. An automotive service company that exhibited honesty, integrity and superb service. Totally unexpected in this day and age. What a blessing, we are thankful beyond words. read more

Kelly's Automotive Service Grants Pass 1661 NE 6th St, Grants Pass, OR 97526 On Sunday I was on my way to Seattle for a medical emergency for someone in my care. By the time I made it to Grants Pass I was told I had to chain up. It was soooo early in the morning! It had been almost 40 years since I had put chains on a car and I had never put them on this car. I was in need of professional help. I called everyone I could think of but it was Sunday and too early...I couldn't find anyone open, including us. So I called Kelly's office assistant Amber on her cell phone to ask if she knew of anyone who was open and could help me. Amber did know of someone, herself and her boyfriend Tony. At 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning they hopped in their car and made it down to the Walmart parking lot. Tony put the chains on in the cold and snow filled parking lot, and I was on my way. This is definitely NOT in Amber's job description! And Tony certainly had no obligation either. It just goes to show how blessed we are to have people who have a servant's heart working for Kelly's. We were on our way to Eugene, when our truck caught on fire towing our 28 ft travel trailer on I5. We were towed to Kelly's around 1:30 am. The next day we met Curtis, Doug and Tama, and they informed us that we needed a new transmission for our truck and it would take a few days to get there. We had our 3 children and dog with us, we were devastated as to what to do. We were able to stay in our trailer on the lot, and use a loaner car when available until the transmission was repaired. Words alone can not express how thankful we are to Curtis and Doug for EVERYTHING they did for us. Not only the repair but making sure the children were busy and happy too!. We drove home a week later with no problems. It was a refreshing feeling to know that there are still people who care beyond the job. I can not Thank them enough. It took me 5 years to find an automotive services I could trust and rely on. After going through services that did the following- Gave me estimates, only to have them wait to tell me on pickup that they found other problems and decided to do the work with out me approval. Picked up the car to find it dirty with grease on the seats. Drive the car of the lot and discover problems the car never had. When they were questioned about it I was told, "that has nothing to do with us. What do you want us to do. Fix it for free? To just flat out being rude. My experience with Kelly's was not only a refreshing change, but I got my questions answered with prompt communication and a follow up call to check on my experience with them. I have a Ford Excursion that would not start. I towed to Kelly's and paid $75.00 for a diagnosis. They said it need's new High Pressure oil pump, new regulator and sensors....it will be $2100. I just did not feel good dealing with them. I made some calls and one of the shops I called was Wolf's Performance in White City. I spoke with Randy and he said that no way is it the High Pressure pump...it is rare for them to go out. Towed to White City....$150 bucks. Turns out it was not high pressure pump. Gasket failure and only $1000. Glad I made the extra call. $75 for a missed diagnosis. I feel like they stole from me and can only wonder what would have happened if they had worked on it. They would have said. We found other issues and it is now $3000K be careful, they are nice up front and can take advantage of you! read more

Kelly's is the best! They are professional, knowledgeable, honest and helpful. If you need the right repair at the right price, go to Kelly's. Three times I've taken my van in and each time I'm impressed. Once i took it because it was misfiring and they promptly discovered that it was due to a rodent who chewed the injector wires. They repaired that, and additionally quoted me for some other repairs. Another time the rear hatch wasn't closing fully, causing the battery to drain. They repaired the hatch mechanism free of charge! Another time the engine wouldn't turn. They actually found an anti-theft fuse that i had foolishly removed, it was hidden in the door and they reinstalled it which then allowed the car to start! Can you ask for better diagnostics and service? I don't think so. read more

All the sudden I began to having a steering problem in my Honda. It was a Friday morning and I was concerned about going the whole weekend with my car behaving strangely. David at Kelly's fit me in. They gave me a loaner car so I could rush back to work. David called me a couple of hours later and said it wasn't a problem with the mechanical side of things, but that after they got it on the lift they could see the tire problem. He recommended two new front tires. THEN they helped me get the car to the tire place. So when I got off of work, I dropped off the loaner, paid the smallest auto repair bill of all time, and walked across the street to the tire place to get my car. They really took great car of all of the logistical issues that this could have caused. read more

LIFE SAVERS! My fiancé & I were taking a road trip from CenCA to Portland OR on Friday the 13th 2015 (coincidence something was bound to happen) & my car's clutch completely went out in the middle of the redwood forest. Long story short, we took her into Kelly's Automotive, they were very busy however I explained my situation & both the owner & tech were under my car taking apart the entire thing to install a hard to find new clutch. 8hours and $850 later, we were on our way. I recently took my 2017 vehicle with 53,000 miles on it to the dealer, for a Warranty Oil Change. Where I was informed my Battery was weak and Brakes were getting a little worn ..... I brought it to Kelly's in Grants Passi, where they had done repairs on some of our other vehicles in the past & asked them to give me an estimate on a Brake Job & Battery. Turns out the Battery was at 75% & the Brake Pads were in pretty good shape also, and they didn't even charge me to check those things out ! We have been customers of Kelly's Automotive for several years now, and they have always been honest and fair. It is nice to be able to go to an auto repair shop that won't try to get you to pay for what you don't need. I recently had a problem with my truck that was difficult to diagnose, since the check engine light would not come on. The mechanic that worked with me, Steve, said he didn't just want to throw parts at it to try to fix the problem, and then leave me with a bill for parts that weren't necessary. Our car broke down and we were towed to this location. In spite of the late hour, Jared went to great lengths to help us even though the shop was booked for weeks out. Not only did he find time to diagnose the car, but when it turned out to be under warranty somewhere else he once again went above and beyond to help us get our car where it needed to go. He turned what was otherwise a worst-case scenario (car needs a whole new engine) into a series of small obstacles that could be overcome one at a time. My 18 year old pregnant daughter's car broke down on her way home. I live in California and was frantically searching, by phone, for a place I felt comfortable to have her car towed to. Within minutes of talking to some one at Kelly's I felt like this was a place similar to where we take our cars here at home. Her car was towed there and they were able to give her a ride home. I arrived the next day and Doug was awesome!! He was very forthright and completely honest with me about the car. They even helped us remove the stereo and speaker. I went to Kelly's because of their advertisement on the Bill Meyer show. The ad talks about their integrity & desire to treat their customers right. I've taken my truck there a couple times with the most recent for a scheduled timing belt & water pump replacement. Their price was fair & the work was completed as expected. A small problem arose a couple weeks later with a hose clamp that had not been seated just right. The Kelly's crew was great at diagnosing & repairing the problem with no charge!
