I'm shocked to see the rating as high as it is at this establishment...The reason we chose this restaurant over others, is BECAUSE of the rating.... When we walked in it was busy and the hostess was friendly and estimated the wait time to be around 5 minutes, and it was; which was nice. We were seated in the porch area (there is a garage door that separates it from the rest of the restaurant) and it was sticky. The air was like the outdoors (SUPER humid day) but not as warm; there clearly was no AC. They did have a big ass fan on (that's the brand name I believe ) but it was on so low- you could not feel it. We all ordered drinks and only my husband was asked if he wanted a refill (family of 6 here). Our waitress never checked on us to ask how the food was until she asked if we were ready for our bill. My oldest son ordered a pizza with banana peppers, mushrooms, and pepperoni, and instead he got a pizza with green peppers, no mushrooms, and a little bit of pepperoni. My husband ordered a burger which he said was dry and so dry in fact he had to remove part of his bun (he is NOT a picky eater). I ordered a Rachel. My sandwich was incredibly dry and the only reason I almost finished it was because there was no way I was letting a 15.00 sandwich go to waste.... My oldest daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla and it was comparable to something she could have made herself (age 9) and thrown in the microwave. My youngest daughter (age 3) ordered a grilled cheese and it was so bad that she refused to eat it. I tried it and it tasted like wax. Velveeta cheese does not make a good grilled cheese especially when it's cold by the time you get to eat it. It was inedible, we ended up throwing it away. The only person who got decent food was my second son who ordered a 12" pepperoni pizza. He said it was pretty good. I will say this place serves "bar food". We will not be returning. The waitress did take the messed up pizza off of our bill (we appreciated that) but, if she had checked up on us earlier, he could have just had a new one made... I fully understand that it was busy, but it's still not an excuse for poor service and bad food. I have worked in restaurants from low end to high end, so I know how it works. We would have appreciated a check in from our waitress and a smile at least... She could have been having a bad day, but don't take that out on the customer. At least the hostess was friendly. I also want to add that the menu has way too many options... maybe if there were less options, they could perfect some of their recipes in order for the food to taste better... waited a half hour to get service. we were in the "bar" area so all the staff said it was the bartenders section well the bartender didn't want to serve us the head waitress didn't want to serve us we finally did get our drink order taken but the food didn't come out for another half hour. when we told them we didn't want the food it was cold they made us pay for the beers then we were chased out of the restaurant but not before the help started talking to all the tables around making it sound like we were wrong meanwhile no accountability ended up at another restaurant intown drinks asap and our food came out in less than 10 minutes . bye Kelly! you're overrated and understaffed with uncaring servers who don't give a s*** read more

This place is great. Decent crowd and the food still came fast and hot. They do a great job to make sure your food doesn't die in the window with multiple runners. Never once say any of the staff just standing around from the hostess to the waitress. Food is very diverse so you can literally have a heavy robust burger to a light and refreshing salad. Really good. They beer batter three cheese curds to be super light batter and very good cheese. Best I have ever had. read more

We were excited to check out this tap house when we stopped in Red Wing because of the amount of beers on draft they advertised, including the amount of local beers. When we perused the list it we asked our server to help us with recommendations of local beers but instead had to look up the beers ourselves. The first 3 that we tried to order were not available. Not knowing when their beer delivery occurs we were a bit surprised since it was lunchtime on a weekday and not the weekend. The walleye sandwich I ordered was delicious and filling. I reseed it grilled and it was well seasoned, super tender, and served with lemon and tartar sauce. I would definitely order this one again. Overall a good experience with still good amount of available beers. read more

Food was pretty good but service was horrible. I had servers walking past me regularly but didn't even have someone take my drink order until 10-15 minutes of sitting there. When my food was dropped off the girl just stared at me like I annoyed her and I didn't see another server until I was ready for my tab. Then service was super fast! The place wasn't even half full inside and there was at least a half dozen servers so no actual reason why service should have been so bad. Great restaurant with a nice bar - filled with a variety of beer selections and cocktails - a patio for outdoor seating right by the marina and delicious appetizers and food! The service was prompt and our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs. For appetizers , we had the spinach artichoke dip, the chicken wings and the steak bites. The chicken wings were one of the best we've had - crunchy and tender! The owner came out and chatted with us - super nice man. I've been here a few times and the food is always on point! I recently got the Smoked Tri-Tip Sandwich. The sandwich had great flavor. The side of chips were seasoned perfectly and paired well with the side of beans. My dad got the Smoked Polish Sausage Sandwich, German style, and loved it! All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. They have so many beers on tap, lots from MN breweries which is awesome! I opted for the Bloody Mary and it was delicious! The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking isn't bad- there is street parking out front and an additional lot across the street. The one downside is the that the last few times I've come service has been slow ... great but slow. You can tell the staff works hard but could function better with an additional staff member or two. I recommend Kelly's and will definitely be back! read more

We were really excited to try Kelly's Taphouse's Dole Whip Margarita special after seeing it advertised. Last weekend we arrived around 9:30 p.m. and were told the machines had already been shut off, even though the bar serves drinks until 1:00 a.m. We were disappointed but ordered something else instead. We decided to give it another shot and even called ahead to make sure the Dole Whip Margaritas were still being served. We were told they wouldn't be shutting the machines off until 11:00 p.m. When we arrived around 10:15 p.m., we were once again told the machines had already been shut off. After explaining that we had called ahead and were told they would still be available, they did turn the machines back on, which we appreciated. However, there were only two flavor choices left, and instead of receiving the full-sized margarita that was advertised, we were served small plastic cups. The margaritas we did receive tasted good, but the inconsistency and lack of communication made the experience frustrating. If you're advertising a special until late in the evening, it should either be available as advertised or customers should be informed ahead of time if it's no longer being served. Hopefully this is something they can improve because the product itself has potential. read more

Our group was in town for a wedding that weekend and came here on a Sunday at 11 AM hoping for brunch (based on their website). Upon arriving, they said that they no longer served brunch. I personally was going to go with a burger no matter what, so wasn't terribly disappointed, but I know a few people from my group were sad. The vibe of the dining room was fairly chill, they had TV's playing various football games and it was spacious and clean inside. It did take more than 30 minutes for the food to come out after ordering which seemed pretty long especially since it wasn't terribly busy. Once the food came out, it did taste good so can't complain about that. If I was in a rush, I don't think it would have been a positive experience but if you're willing to kill some time this could be a great spot for you! read more

Waited a long time before anyone acknowledge that we were there. Sat at the bar because the restaurant was full. Took forever for a bartender to take our order. But once we got our drinks she took our food order immediately. I recommend the broasted chicken to my friend who was visiting. I have had it several times and it is amazing. I ordered the mac and cheese with brisket. Unfortunately it came out barely warm so I sent it back for a warm up. It was delicious. The food was ok, not quite worth the price in my opinion. The Alfredo didn't seem to have much seasoning/taste and was kind of room temp not hot. The fries seemed too cooked and was a smaller amount after having to pay for an upgrade on them. The red wing sandwich was great though and it's not like the food tasted bad. Lastly, the skillet cookie and ice cream was ok, the cookie was really hard. The options were vast and service was quick and nice. Well we love the place normally but breakfast was not anything to come back for. My wife and I ordered identical plates. The two eggs were flat and oily, the bacon was limp and stringy, the hash browns were super greasy. Waitress ignored both requests for crispy bacon. The overall breakfast grease was overwhelming. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch! We had our pup with us so they put us at a table out back by the bridge. The back patio was a lil crooked and we had to move to get out of the rain, but overall it was a great place to grab a bite if you have a dog with you. The host was the best! We visited for a weekday lunch. The weather was lovely so we sat out on the patio, which was great, though the occasional train comes by at full speed, horn blaring, and can make talk difficult for a few minutes. We ordered drinks and a cheese curds appetizer; the curds were still MIA when our main meals came out, but our server realized this and promptly brought them out with apologies. I have to say, the cheese curds were amazing--the beer batter gives the coating a nice light crispness. I ordered the nuts and berries salad. The toppings were nice and generous, but that also included a lot of finely-chopped celery, which I am not fond of, so I wouldn't get this salad again; it was otherwise good, though, and by no means discourages me from returning. The breadstick that came with the salad was awesome and had a core of molten cheese, which makes everything better. My husband had a burger, which he really liked. We ate here after taking the boat cruise. It was jammed packed. Get off the boat early to get your table. A good number of beers to choose from. Not many wine choices and nothing on a menu to peruse. I chose the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings for my side. It also came with baked beans and coleslaw which were very good. Sandwich was served on a pretzel bun with sauce on the side. All good. Everyone in our party enjoyed the meals they chose. Our server was very good. I like when they tell you what are good (and bad) choices. She was big on the potato salad and after chatting with her, we found out she makes it. We teased her a bit about that. I don't like potato salad but my mom said it was good. The patio looked amazing, overlooking Lake Pepin. We didn't get a table out there but maybe next time. We weren't able to make reservations for 4 but perhaps larger groups are able to make reservations. read more

The view out the window was good, ambiance was ok but... by the time we realized our food was taking far too long on a random Tuesday lunchtime, the waitress checked on it and said it would be right out. There were 4 of us, one person got their food several minutes later which was a full hour after we placed our order. The remaining 3 of us waited longer. The first person, while eating slowly, was finished with their food by the time the second dish came out. Many minutes later, the 3rd dish was served, then, several minutes after that the 4th dish arrived - and it was cold. Fries were cold, panini sandwich was cold. Waitress apologized and took it away to "fix it" and the first 3 people were long finished eating by the time the 4th sandwich reappeared.
