The location on Old West Main is another thing that makes Kelly's special. There's a wonderful view toward the river and the railroad tracks, and I love just sitting there watching the trains go by and taking in the scenery. It has that unmistakable Red Wing atmosphere that makes the whole experience even better. Great food, great service, a beautiful setting, and consistency every time I've been there. My oldest son ordered a pizza with banana peppers, mushrooms, and pepperoni, and instead he got a pizza with green peppers, no mushrooms, and a little bit of pepperoni. My husband ordered a burger which he said was dry and so dry in fact he had to remove part of his bun (he is NOT a picky eater). I ordered a Rachel. My sandwich was incredibly dry and the only reason I almost finished it was because there was no way I was letting a 15.00 sandwich go to waste.... My oldest daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla and it was comparable to something she could have made herself (age 9) and thrown in the microwave. My youngest daughter (age 3) ordered a grilled cheese and it was so bad that she refused to eat it. I tried it and it tasted like wax. Velveeta cheese does not make a good grilled cheese especially when it's cold by the time you get to eat it. It was inedible, we ended up throwing it away. We were told that it would only be a little bit more time. So we waited about 30 more minutes and finally our food came out. To our surprise the wings that we ordered were all undercooked. When mentioning this to our waiter, and thus the general manager, she seemed very, VERY annoyed with us. Keep in mind that we had been waiting for about two hours. The general manager immediately snapped back asking what was the problem with food, even though it was obvious that they forgot about us and rushed our order (thus the raw wings). rather than admitting that they were undercooked, she said she would make us an order again more to our "liking" if you can't believe it, this isn't even the worst part of our experience! . When it came time to pay the bill we were informed the credit card service was off-line and we had to make a cash payment. We didn't know what to do because we did not have cash. The general manager came and informed us that we had to go to an ATM and withdraw cash. However, she made it very, very clear that we were not allowed to all go together, implying that we were going to try to "steal the food" and by implying, I mean, she said that , "You better not all leave, one of you has to stay". What made me so upset about this interaction is that we were the ONLY people of color inside of the restaurant and she did not have the same tone of voice or language with any of the other customers AT ALL! I paid very close attention to how she spoke to the other customers. It was not our fault that their credit card service went down, but the fact that she demanded that one of us stay while someone had to go to the ATM was so disrespectful. Keep in mind this was the manager saying this! We had been to Carbones multiple times before this, and we always tipped! It seems there was only 1 reason for her to treat us like this....
