I just keep coming back to this place. When I'm hanging out by myself and want a drink, this is where I end up. Saturday seems to usually have live music that is interesting but not too loud you can't think or chat with anyone. The bartenders take craft cocktails very seriously and will help you come up with just exactly what you'd like to experience. The last time in there was a line of different sized groups waiting for tables and the host came out and asked me if I was alone - then guided me into the place to a spot at the bar. A small gesture that was well received, acknowledging that not all people in line are looking for the same thing. The outdoor deck overlooks the main street and all the people walking to/from nearby bars. Great vibe for a town slowly evolving from a sleepy antique shop and bank town to a vibrant hub for great food, music, and drinks. The small plate food menu is really interesting and unusual. It seems to change somewhat frequently too. Not exactly a full-on dinner spot but enough options to munch on while enjoying a cocktail. The scene is a bit older and more chill, not the "just turned 21" crowd. There's nothing wrong with the latter, just setting expectations. Enjoy. read more

Drinks were really great and the experience was very enjoyable... Until my credit card was charged. I was presents a $89 and some change bill and had no complaint with it. But, when it came time to sign for my check. My bill was suddenly $13 more, ($102 and some change). I questioned it thinking that they've included a service charge. It turns out that my waiter charged me for a drink after he already presented me my bill... In short, he presented me a $89 bill but charged me $102. After I questioned my bill, "he did some digging" and determined it was his error. He charged me for an extra drink because he thought he forgot to charge me for it. This really put a bad taste in my mouth. I just view this as a very unethical practice. Who would put an additional charge after a bill is already presented with no explanation. Even with this experience, I still tipped 20%, I did not want to under tip the other staff for doing their jobs... But, thought I should warn other diners about my experience. read more

Small update to the rest of the food part of the menu...this is a cocktail bar, not a food restaurant...so manage your expectations. The menu looks and sounds amazing but I have quickly learned that it is all up to the chef's whims. If the salad says golden beets, that might not actually be the kind of beets you get. If the pasta says tomato...you might not get tomato sauce. What you will get it is still good but it sounds like the chef likes to be creative and will change things up, notifying some staff and not others. One time we were told this major change (after the food had come to the table) was based on the season yet all the things ordered were very much in season. So just don't get your heart set on the exact thing you order. The drinks and the atmosphere though? Still so so great and this is still the spot I take everyone. read more

The only street-visible sign (thanks, Edmonds) is the one saying "Open," so we all refer to Kelnero as "Open," as in "Meet you at Open." But we're very glad Open is open: great cocktails, great service, great location (especially in nice weather, when you can sit outside). After a preliminary reconnoitre through my old, tried-and-true favorites, I'm now working through the menu from the top down. Excepting the drinks with rum (not a rum fan - but that's a personal foible), all have been worth trying, and many worth coming back to. I've had cocktails at some famous watering holes. including the famous American Bar at the Savoy, with it's infamous £5,000 Sazerac - "Charge to Russian Embassy, please" (which didn't work). The Kelnero is in that quality range. Nice snacks, too! And they're quite willing to try any recipe you may bring in, such as a Tammany Hall - a Manhattan with Irish whiskey (see below). Love what you've done with the place! We've been waiting patiently as the well thought out remodel was completed. Can't wait to use the deck. Now that things are all square and the soft opening is well under waywe can say the wait has been worth it! Went here the other night with friends Its a bar, and is loud. There was live music and that makes it louder. It's hard to do live music in a small venue with a crowd of people try talk over the music so they can hear one another. There are private tables in side rooms that may be less noisy. The drinks were yummy, the food was ok. They serve small plates. The men were still hungry when we left. Clams were sandy and the oysters were very small (walnut size) they were nicely displayed on a bed of rock salt. When the oysters were set down in front of my friend he said "those 3 tiny oysters are cute, but do think they would serve me the parents of these little guys if I asked" Nice place, little loud, a bit pricy for the small plates. Went here for drinks with a friend. Ample outdoor seating options. The staff was very friendly. I know they have a diverse specialty cocktail menu but I ordered my fav alcoholic beverage - a Bloody Mary. They had two options, a regular and a "spicy" which used pepper vodka and firewater bitters. Spice is essential in a Bloody Mary otherwise it isn't really a proper Bloody Mary but I was concerned it would be too spicy. It wasn't. It was perfect. This was a fantastic place for cocktails! Our party of four was seated quickly and we had prompt service. The atmosphere was awesome. Every drink we had was well crafted and we enjoyed them so much we decided to stay for dinner. As impressed as we were with the cocktails we were pretty disappointed in the food. I had the poutine and while it was ok it wasn't worth the price and it was sloppy looking. Two people at our table had clams and one found sand in his and the other plate was cold. I will definitely be back but I'll drink there and go somewhere else to eat. read more

A fun place to go for craft cocktails. I don't drink so I've only tried several of their mocktails and they aren't bad but not super delicious in my opinion. My friends have all loved their alcoholic beverages however. My only complaint is that they have very small tables in their little rooms and when ordering food and drinks there is literally not enough room to place everything on the table. The other thing that i didn't like is that some of these more private rooms will have two or three tables in them meaning that two or three other parties will be crammed in the same tiny room as you. Came here after a movie for some drinks. Amazing cocktails. They had a really good variety of drinks to choose from. I tried several cocktails and enjoyed all of them. Service was amazing!! We stayed a little after closing but tried to leave as soon as we could. And we were aware of the time and told our server that we would hurry up and finish our last drink. She told us to take our time and was super friendly. They also had food available. Not a huge menu but paired well with our drinks. We tried the deviled eggs and bean quesadillas. A group of us came into Kelnero on a Friday night looking to grab some drinks and apps. It was my birthday and my friend had accidentally forgotten to make reservations. They squeezed us in (very quickly) and gave us a private room and the waiter gave us complementary champagne to celebrate.
