This is not the first time I'm giving a Canadian restaurant chain 5 starts and it might now even be the last time, who knows? But this is a review well worth the 5 starts I'm giving them. We ended up coming to Kelsey's on Sunday while driving up to Toronto. The place wasn't packed when we came in around 1:30PM which was perfect for us. It's set up like a typical chain establishment and offers plenty of seating and a nice look to the place. The menu here is pretty huge and offers everything a casual Canadian place will have. I originally came because I wanted to try one of the big burgers they had but ended up sinking my teeth into the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy (mmmmmmmm). About 15 minutes after we placed our orders the manager came to our table to apologize for the wait and even for us a free dessert on the house! I did not think the wait was too long, but I also wasn't going to turn down a double cookie sandwich. The meal itself was delicious. The breading has its own unique twist, the chicken was juicy, and the potatoes were fantastic too. The dessert we got was also great! The cookies were hot and mushy so even though we had to eat it with forks we certainly enjoyed doing so. Overall, Kelsey's was a great experience and I would absolutely come back here again. Highly recommend giving them a shot if you haven't already!

One small mistake that really wasn't a big deal was dealt as if it was one. Manager personally apologized and gave us a ticket for a free desert, and a free four cheese spinach dip. The staff was very friendly, they also gave a discount on the small mistake as well as free salsa and sour cream for another dish

Where to start? Nice greeting at the door and seated promptly. Well started looking at the menu and was disappointed that there were only sirloin steaks offered. What a severe disappointment. Was really hoping for prime rib. I ordered the nachos based on the picture in the menu and asked the server if it actually came looking like that. She said yes. Great. Time to give them a try. When they arrived at the table I was delighted to see a beautiful large plate of nachos. I dug in for all it was worth. I was damn hungry. Well happiness came to a crashing halt. The first bite had meat. Where is the rest of the meat. I kept eating and looking for meat. Eventually I found one or two more chips with meat. The rest of the whole LARGE serving was chips and veggies. Disappointed. The rest was great. The service was top-notch except for one thing...Please tell your servers and hostesses that wearing scented material is an absolute NO-NO. NO PERFUMES, ETC. A well trained restaurant employee WILL know that the sense of smell is directly connected to the sense of taste. That being said, I would like to say thank you to the cute hostess with the nice floral smell to her for making my meal taste like it was topped with a nice floral bouquet. I loved tasting flowers in my nachos. (see http://www.brainfacts.org/sensing-thinking-behaving/senses-and-perception/articles/2012/taste-and-smell/) Enough science. Service was great. Well taken care of and checked on regularly without being obtrusive. Nice atmosphere. Decor typical of a chain restaurant. Overall...Will return. Great value for the money.

Wow! This place was very good. My girlfriend and I were in town and wanted to try somewhere different and we stumbled upon this place . I ended up getting pulled pork tacos and the flavors in it were delicious and mixed together very well, especially with an apple butter bbq sauce. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a good time out.

I had settled on the Triple D breakfast, while my husband had settled on the eggs benedict, and my kids the French toast bites and kids egg breakfast. Overall, the food was well-portioned, and cooked well. We could tell that the ingredients were fresh, and that the chef took his/her time to cook the meal, as the eggs were cooked completely through. Considering the prices that we had paid, we were stuffed, and didn't have to eat until later on in the evening. The food did take long though, and we had to wait in-line for a bit to pay for the bill. Service was good, as the waitress came to check on us a few times during our meal. Overall, a great place to start the day!

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)

After three wineries, my husband was definitely ready for some food. When you walk in, you definitely feel like you're entering an English pub! The bar, and place, ent of the bar was very traditional to pubs in the UK. Our server Lawerence definitely helped with his English accent! When asked where he was from, he said Bristol! He came to Canada after her sister relocated. He originally was a cook, but given his accent, they asked hi. To move to the front! Well done. He was a great server too! Very friendly! We decided to share the sausage rolls and shepherds pie. My husband had two Guinness! I'm not sure where he put it in top of the wine, but glad I was driving. The sausage rolls were very tasty. The mustard that came for dipping was the perfect accompaniment. The shepherd's pie had a dark Guinness gravy that was rich and flavorful. I enjoyed the side of peas and carrots too! Sharing these two was the perfect amount, however we wished we'd got the poutine! It looked amazing, it would've been too much food though. Guess we will need to return! PS: loved seeing the sign for Upper Canada Brewing company! In 1988, I visited them with my college partner as we did a college paper on microbrewers! At that time, they were one of a few. We also had visited Great Lakes brewing in CLE! The microbrewing industry exploded shortly there after! Was a great personal walk down memory lane for my college days!! While Upper Canada was sold, was just excellent to see an old sign!

The busboy/host was both clearing tables and seating people while we waited for a spot to open-up. We were seated in reasonable time but it was clear that a thorough cleaning hadn't been done in and around our table. There was scraps & paper on the floor. I would have rather waited for it to be clean than a rushed job just to seat us. The meal was disappointing and not up to the standards I would expect from a chain. Both the chicken and ribs were dry and the dipping sauce came in take-out containers (rather than the relatively nice porcelain bowls they typically come in). Our server did the best that she could and was super friendly. I felt bad for her as it was busy that night and the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Finally, we did not get our chocolates from the festive special as they were sold-out (very disappointing) but she did give us additional scratch-offs in lieu of. I do hope that this location improves as we typically enjoy the location and Swiss Chalet in general.

Discovering Niko's Place was the foodie equivalent of witnessing the majestic Niagara Falls. And Niko's more than delivered on both food and service. Located on a street with a small dirt parking lot in a small building, you would have no idea the food treasures you are about to unpack. With just a couple of larger picnic benches and one table with a few seats inside, it's small venue a bit subject to the weather. But even with the heat on this particular day, Niko and his wife were so friendly and kind. From being patient because we didn't have Canadian dollars ready (This place is cash only! But there is an ATM nearby), to friendly chatter and smiles, you can tell they love what they do. As for the food, we went a little crazy and ordered fish and chips, poutine, and even a burger. All worth it. The Poutine (get the mix, which has curds and shredded cheese) was one of the best I've ever had. The bottom started with beautifully plump fries that were lightly crispy on the outside and full of potato goodness on the inside. On the next layer, they had plenty of their mild and full-of-umami cheese curds which was melted just right with some texture from the curds combined with tons of ooey-gooey goodness. And this was all topped off with a generous ladle of a beefy, savory gravy packed with flavor, all without being too salty. Can you tell I love poutine? But wait, there's more! The Fish and chips, which used the same perfect fries for the chips, was an unexpected home run. The Fish was so flaky and tender with just the right bit of crispy breading. And the homemade tartar sauce was creamy, a little sweet and really pulled the whole dish together. And finally, the burger was undeniably delicious and could easily have been a favorite if not for the insane line up. Needless to say, my cravings were satisfied. My stomach is still singing praises days after the visit. The only downside is that I don't know if I can have poutine or even fish and chips elsewhere for a while for the risk that it won't compare to the experience at Niko's. So yes, locals and tourists alike - run there now if you have never been so you can count down the days till your next visit, like me.
