I went to get my teeth whitened for the first time ever and I'm so happy I trusted this dentistry. They just opened about 2 months ago so everything is organized and clean! I was very nervous since this was my first time but the whole procedure was thoroughly explained by the doctor and the assistant and they made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Park was super sweet and checked up on my every 20min while I had the whitening solution on my teeth to make sure I was doing okay. Since my teeth are more sensitive than normal, I had the whitening solution put on top twice every 20min and the bottom just once (normally they put it 3 times every 20min for max result). Overall, my teeth shade had gotten whiter by 1 shade and I'm so happy I visited this office! read more

I went to Dr. Garcia to have my teeth whitened. I couldn't be happier with the results and the price for that matter. I posted two pics which are embarrassing but I did it anyways because I wanted to thank him and show you how well it worked! Thank you Dr Garcia! I started going to Island dentistry a few months ago when I chipped an old bonding off my front tooth. They took me in last minute and accommodated for my dental emergency. The staff there is AWESOME! The gals are super nice and a groovy doc with a very cozy vacation feel at the office. After discussing my options with the Doctor, I decided to get crowns on my two front teeth. (A decision I have been avoiding a long time! I had temp bonding on them since I chipped them 20 years ago) The procedure itself was a breeze since I was given nitrous and was on a soft happy cloud. I also went the extra mile and got my teeth whitened in the office since I was upgrading my smile I figured I might as well go all the way with it. As a young adult who has lived all over the country, I have clearly been to many dentists. Brandon is hands down the BEST Dentist I have been to so far. He truly cares about the well being of his patients and is never in a hurry. Comfort is key when it comes to having Brandon the dentist work on you. Brenda who works at the front is a pivotal asset to the company. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have even know about Island Dentistry. Not only is she professional, efficient, and helpful but she is an absolute cutie as well. Island Dentistry is the spot of you actually want a pleasurable experience at a dentistry office. I am really not sure how Mr. Garcia gets five star reviews, unless he is asking his friends to review him on yelp, or why the bad reviews get deleted. Avoid this dentist unless you like overpaying for sub part work. Mr. Garcia gave me a bid on my teeth, which was already pretty high. I was in pain, and he talked a good talk. So I went ahead and had him start working on my teeth. He worked on my teeth for three consecutive weeks. Everytime I would arrive home, the numbness would wear off, and I was still in extreme pain. Turns out, this very impressive dentist, took three weeks and three visits just to get the roots out of one tooth. All the while, he is doing other work in my mouth. Telling me it was more difficult than he expected and it is going to cost more than he originally said. I ended up paying 3k over his original bid. For a bridge that broke within a year and two root canals that never got crowns on them, before I got completely fed up with his bull. I ended up at another dentist, who did all the work for 1/3 the cost. She was ashamed of dentists like Mr. Garcia. His shoddy work, over pricing, and apparent lack of ethics. Dr. Garcia is a solid, friendly and knowledgeable dentist. His info on canine guidance (this would be the canine tooth, not the furry four-legged variety of canine) was of great value. Most dentists don't take the time to go into the kind of detail Dr. Garcia does when he explains a problem or procedure. Great staff, great listeners, great place! read more

Dr. Garcia and his staff are 5 star. He treats my wife and I like family when we're at his office. After you leave he's reaching out to you in the evenings to check up on you and make sure your a happy camper. He takes the right amount of time to make sure things are perfect before you leave his office. Claudia is his assistant and is amazing. Her attention to detail follows suit with Dr. Garcia's. I started my three year journey with a visit to Dr. Garcia from a chipped tooth. At that time, I was in a vulnerable situation because I was experiencing other serious health issues. While I was at the first appointment, I was told that most of my teeth were fractured and decayed and would need a full set of veneers. I agreed to start with the top few teeth as I had a few fractures on one tooth from a skiing accident. Each visit, I began to develop a relationship with the front office staff and put my trust in them. As we started the restoration, Dr. Garcia indicated that it was standard practice to do root canals on each tooth that a veneer would be placed on as it would make it more complicated to perform one after a veneer was placed. I underwent 16 root canals over the next several months. As Dr Garcia was placing new veneers on my teeth, I was noticing food gaps that I had never had before. When I addressed this concern, I was told that this was just how it worked with new crowns. During the process of making new crowns, it is necessary to pack the gums with cords. Each time Dr. Garcia packed a tooth with cords, I would be in excruciating pain for at least 30 minutes while the cords were packed in the gums as well as the waiting time. I would constantly ask him to add more Anastasia. My new Dentist seemed to use less Anastasia and I honestly have felt no pain so far from the 4 crowns that he packed. I have learned that a good dentist knows how to make this process pain free. Three years later, I thought I was going to my last appointment. For replacement of three crowns (because original ones were cracking before 2 years, and an inlay that was placed 3 months before, I was quoted $9,000. At this time, I was flying down from San Francisco as I had moved from the area. They asked me to put $5,000 to rush the order so I would be done before Christmas. The office scheduled me for December 23, 2015. When I arrived, I flew in to find out that my work was not even complete from the lab. Not only was the work not complete, but the office overcharged me by $3,000. Because my work has moved, I told them I could not return again so I asked them to refund my money. The office representative texted me several times and apologized for the overcharge, but told me that it would be much easier for me to dispute the charges because the only think Dr. Garcia cared about was the money. I disputed the charges, no adjustment was ever made, and I continue to have food gaps. I went to a SF Dentist who explained that I had food gaps because the crowns were not placed properly. He also asked why it was necessary to have 16 root canals. He indicated that I should have done more research. I was able to have the same final $12,000, or $9,000 worth of work completed by this new Dentist for $2,700. The great thing is the new work is free of food gaps. I still have 4 more crowns to be redone by this new dentist. I hope that someone else can benefit from my mistakes from this situation. read more

It's been over a year since my experience with Dr. Garcia, and it still burns me. I thought, maybe I should share my experience with others so as to spare someone else the same deceit. I came to Island dentistry on a promotion (the ones they're always pushing) to have my teeth cleaned. The hygienist was a nice lady, and did a decent job. Then, in comes Dr. Garcia (absolutely no people skills) who insists on taking x-rays after I told him I just had some done up north recently, and that I'm just interested in a cleaning. He tells me that it's part of the promotion and that we should just take them anyways. Why? Then, miraculously the x-rays show I have 4 cavities....huh, I was less than convinced, so he shows me photo images with his little wand camera in my mouth. The pictures definitely showed obvious cavities. I was shocked, and now convinced. His rates were very expensive and I didn't like him as a person, so I took my x-rays with me. When I went to my mother's dentist, who she loves and trusts, I dropped of my x-rays and scheduled an appointment to have 4 fillings. When I got to my appointment, my denist said he had thoroughly looked over my film and that he didn't see any cavities. He gave me an oral exam and said that my teeth looked great. I could tell he didn't want to make anybody wrong or create controversy when I explained how shocked I was, and what had happened, that I had been shown pictures of "my cavities". I could not recommend Island Dentistry enough for anyone, any age, any issue. I live in Los Angeles, and my husband and I drive all the way to Laguna to see Dr. Garcia and his incredible team. This dentist is a rip off!! I went there for an estimate for a bridge repair that I needed and then went to another dentist for an estimate. I always get 2 or 3 estimates for any dental or medical treatments that I need. Dr. Garcia's estimate was $3000 more than the other dentist!!. I guess that's Laguna Beach prices. If you don't mind overpaying for dental work, then go to this dentist. And also if you don't mind not having the work last more than 6 months then go to this dentist. After having 3 teeth repaired which required a bridge, it broke after 6 months and Dr. Garcia refused to fix it without charging me the full amount again. He does not stand behind his work. I've been going to Dr. Garcia for years, and I have always received outstanding service. Is he your typical suit and tie, snore-fest dentist? No, he plays music (sometimes in the office for his patients!), he surfs, he has a family, and he's active in the community. In other words, he's real. As such, maybe he's made some mistakes (see 1-star reviews), but we're all human, and I've never experienced poor service or quality of work at Island Dentistry. I was in the office recently getting old veneers replaced--they had lasted 10+ years--and guess what, it was somewhat painful. It's supposed to be! This is a dentist you don't want to go to. I was told I needed a root canal and like always I got another opinion. In fact, l got 2 more opinions. Both said I didn't need the root canal and I was able to fix my tooth for a fraction of the cost of a root canal. It's a treat when the office that happens to be the closest to your house is also a pleasant place to receive care; as well as dental advice. I just finished my annual cleaning here and the visit was smooth and efficient. I walked in concerned about teeth sensitivity that I was experiencing, thinking I may have quite a few cavities. Instead of seeing my concerns as an opportunity to sell me a few treatments I didn't need, Dr. Garcia (and friendly assistants) performed a gentle cleaning and X-rays, and only recommended the services that I needed at this time. I appreciate honesty as much as professional care, and I received both at Island Dentistry this week. I've been to this location 3 times in the last 4 years, and each visit has been positive. This is the way a dental office or any office for that matter should be and feel like. I live here in Laguna Beach and USED to travel to Newport Beach to have my teeth cleaned. It was.....well a habit. Then one day while eating at Gina's pizza I happened to spot Island Dentistry right next door. I looked inside and said "This is a dental office????".......The place felt like a home!! A surf video was playing and when not.... wonderful music was playing (the dentist is a musician and a fine one at that!). Guitars lined the walls. Beautiful photos! The place just was a breath of fresh air!! One feels relaxed. THIS IS NOT A STUFFY STERILE OFFICE. Yuck! My firm belief that more businesses and offices need to come here a learn something. The service is out of the hemisphere and the people are so loving. Now if we can get the rest of the businesses to follow this model I feel we would all be a bit more comfortable. Next stop......redesign the interior and exteriors of hospitals!! Oh and did I mention their prices are REALISTIC!! And my teeth are awesome because of them. They warm you up & are so friendly when you walk-in, offer water, introduce you to the whole staff like you are family, say that your insurance will reimburse you, are persistent in making additional appointments for the whole family, then proceed to do exams, cleanings, & work & then tell you that your insurance isn't in-network & but they will work with you but their prices are all ready well above average. Also that they messed up & that they usually go over pricing & payments first before actually doing any work in my case 2 appointments later they requested payment & I confirmed that my insurance would reimburse me & that is when the manager informed me that I was out of network after several times of telling me that she would take care of it & not to worry. Then is quick to turn on you when you try to negotiate! This doctor is the perfect example of why we need a regulated Health Care. He takes advantage and his employees willing shared the same information. He gave my little boy an abscess tooth from a surface 1 cavity,(which I wouldn't be surprise that is was on purpose) and which makes me now understand why they called several times in a day and daily, (including the holiday weekend), ever providing a statement that they kept stalling sons of why they couldntFrom my experience it seems that you are paying for so he is able to have an ostentatious office space on PCH, work 2 days a week & spend the rest his time working on his rock star career. read more
