Without question the MOST knowledgeable and caring dentist I've ever had!! Dr Yee has a true love for his profession and it shows. His expertise far exceeds the title of 'dentist'. My previous dentist was treating the tiny gaps between my gum and tooth as if they were from brushing too hard. Dr Yee showed me data that showed they were most likely from clenching my teeth unknowingly and creating stress fractures. My other dentist never mentioned this possibility! Nor did he ever do an oral cancer screening like Dr Yee does. I've had many procedures on my teeth over the years by Dr Yee from basic cleanings and fillings, to lower teeth braces and a permanent lower retainer, to a more comfortable night guard to veneers on my top teeth and whitening. I had been putting off getting my wisdom teeth pulled forever. Although I love my dentist, the thought of anything more then a cleaning scared the heck out of me. As time progressed though, the pain got worse and I decided to take the plunge. A close friend of mine recommend Sam Yee to me, since my dentist could not pull my wisdom teeth due to impactions. I called Dr Yee and set an appointment to have things looked at asap. When I arrived, the staff was extremely friendly and took me back right away. They did an x-ray and then lead me back to an exam room. Dr Yee came in a few minutes later and introduced himself. He is very friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. He showed me my x-rays and my lovely impacted wisdom teeth, and explained the process very well. He was patient and answered all my questions. Feeling as though he was a good choice, I went ahead and set an official appointment to have them pulled. The day prior to my appointment the staff called me and went over a few things with me and assured me that everything would go fine despite my rising anxiety, The morning of my appt. my boyfriend drove me to the office and dragged me in haha, Dr Yee greeted me right away and led me back. I was given halion to help me relax (Thank goodness) and he briefly explained the procedure again, asked if I had any questions, and assured me that everything would go fine. He was great the entire process. He was very gentle and made sure I was comfortable, and did not experience any pain. The entire process (All four wisdom teeth) went way better then I could have ever imagined. I expected a long, painful, experience, but it was the exact opposite. When I was finished, Dr Yee explained the aftercare, and provided me everything I needed for at home care. My experience with Dr Yee was excellent. Him and his staff are very professional, and provide a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, in what commonly is a dreaded place. I bought a groupon.com for this place: $99 for a whitening session, plus trays AND a cleaning. thats what got me in the door. But what keeps me coming back for my bi annual visits and referring my 9 member family plus various friends & co workers is this: SMALL GENTLE HANDS! ok the staff is warm and friendly, the chairs have TV's in front of them as well as above them (such a brilliant idea cuz you have something to occupy yourself while someones elbow deep in your grill) but the fact that everyone who works on you including the Doctor is so gentle and sweet with small hands. they don't talk down to you bc you don't floss enough or brush 4x a day. cuz lets be real, who has perfect teeth? highly recommend this place. Had a great visit. They were very honest and upfront with everything. I've has terrible experiences with dental providers in the past and this was a pleasant surprise. Let me start by mentioning how much I dislike sitting in a dentist's chair. I dread that six month checkup and frequently push it out to a dental checkup every year. With that being said, Dr. Yee's office (and amazing staff) is the closest I've ever experienced to having a comfortable, non-dreaded experience. The staff go above and beyond in an unrushed manner while also being respectful of my busy schedule. I'm honestly not sure how they go about the "calmness" and "family oriented" environment, but I feel at ease every time I go in. As a child I've always dreaded the dentist. The distasteful things they put in your mouth, the painful needles they jam into your gums, and the nauseous feeling leaving the dentist in pain. I've been going to Dr. Yee for about 20 years and have had nothing but great experiences and service with him and his staff. Unlike to the 2 poor reviews I've read, Sam (Dr. Yee) has actually saved me money by giving me other dental options. My daughter had braces for about 2.5 years and he was able to use her mom's and my insurance to cover ALL of her dental expenses. I'm not sure about the adult movies the other guy was talking about, but I've only noticed rated G and maybe PG-13 movies there. I got a kick out of my first visit there, as I was reclined in the dentist chair and watching a movie from the TV that was strapped to the ceiling. I didn't want to leave the recliner and wished I'd brought some pop corn. Hmm...suggestion Sam. Have a pop corn maker in the lobby. Ha! Every one of my visits were pretty much pain free. He's extracted 2 of my wisdom teeth without any pain or discomfort. Even when my daughter got hers pulled at the age of 12, she had no complaints. I got my first 2 wisdom teeth pulled in 1985, when I was in the military. I had the dentist on my chest and he had to actually break my tooth in half, in order to extract it! He's one of the few people that no matter where I ended up moving to, I'd always make the trek all the way back to South Orange County to come in for my cleanings. Went to Dr. Yee for Teeth Whitening and X-rays from Flyer I received supposed to be free from the flyer, I received charges through my insurance that were unapproved. Came back a year later for My wife's and I yearly teeth cleaning, instead I spent two hours filming our teeth trying to upsell us for over $10,000 in unnecessary work and was billed through insurance again without approval for another $600 plus. I've been coming to Sam Yee's office for around 12 to 15 years, and he has always performed a great dental service. I've also brought my 17-year-old daughter here for around 13 years, and she has beautiful teeth, thanks to the coating they put on her teeth to stop cavities when she was younger. I've always been disappointed in dentists until we started coming here. The other dentists were never up to par, and I would experience pain, because I have sensitive teeth. But never here. I had the whitening Groupon. I went into the office and waited about 15 minutes before the receptionist acknowledged me. There were no other patients at the time. I had to ask twice for the proper paperwork. It was about 30 minutes before I got to the actual chair and they started examining me. The people in the office seemed uninterested and didn't mind keeping me waiting with little information as to what was going to happen next. Dr. Yee, while examining me and trying to make conversation, used inappropriate language, albeit, not about dentistry. This did not seem professional at all. My teeth are only slightly whiter than before. I was a bit disappointed. The procedure causes your teeth to be sensitive for about 12 hours afterwards, and then it's fine. read more

This was my first time going to a new dentist due to my insurance policy changing. My first step was to find someone closer to my area and the second step was to read up on Yelp reviews. All the reviews were impressive and I chose Dr. Yee. From the moment I called his office... Christine was very helpful and more than happy to find out what my Insurance would cover (I was told I needed to have a root canal done from my past dentist). She scheduled me for an appointment and upon my arrival I was greeted with a smile and enthusiasm. You really don't now how far this goes, but it goes pretty far when you're going to see a Dentist. I filled out my paperwork and Christine was having issues finding out what the coverage was for my insurance, but assured me that she would find out exactly what the costs would be and if they needed to join my network - they would!! Gold STAR's all around!! I then met with the dental assistance who were very nice and made me feel right at home. They have TV's mounted on the wall and ceilings so you have something to watch if you're into that - me personally, I fall asleep in the dentist chair. After the assistants finished their review of my teeth - Dr Yee came in and we spoke to some extent. He showed me my xray's and a video about some of the procedures that would need to be done. He also pointed out that I am a grinder due to some bone structures in my mouth which I have never heard anyone tell me before. Again, Dr Yee provided some education for me to be aware of that condition so I could stop it from happening in the future. Now the moment of glory - he cleaned out the area where I chipped my tooth and where my other dentist said I needed a root canal ASAP... Dr Yee said that he looked and though he could see why they would recommend a root canal - the tooth, gum and nerve looked in great shape. So he outfitted me with a tooth cover and took his time to make sure it was fitted correctly. Today I am as happy as can be. I don't fear root canals, but I would rather avoid them if not needed. Dr Yee's honesty and his friendly staff make this dentist a keeper and prompted me to write up a Yelp review to show him support and let others know that the reviews he gets on Yelp are well deserved! read more

I've had other dentists tell me I would have to use laughing gas for my procedure which made me uncomfortable. Dr. Yee said it wasn't necessary and I got my procedure done just fine! I had the best experience at this dental office! A friend of mine got her teeth whitened here and they lasted sooo long that I knew I had to give them a try! I called to make my appointment and Maygen walked me through the procedure step by step. She was so sweet and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. After Dr. Yee cleaned my teeth and then his staff applied whitening solution my teeth haven't looked so white in years; in fact, my teeth always had a definite yellow cast which I had been led to believe was quite natural due to some quality of the teeth's makeup. They are now white - whiter than I ever thought possible. Thank you Dr. Yee! They also did an outstanding job of caring for my wife's teeth, which have been compromised by oral cancer surgery. His expertise led him to discover and treat an associated problem which had not been detected by the medical university department which had fashioned the dental prothesis she uses. I used to see Dr. Yee when he was in La Puente! Unfortunately I moved to Burbank and he soon moved to South OC. Now I'm retiring and may move to OC, and it occurred to me, I wonder if Sam is still there? (He used to insist his patients call him Sam; I don't know if he still does that!) Back in the day he pulled my wisdom teeth, some of which had twisted roots, and did a great job! Everything he ever did to my teeth was gentle and well-done. I just want to add that I don't understand the 1-star review. I'm sure that person is confusing Dr. Yee for someone else. I hope I get to go to him again soon! read more

I am 38 years old and had to have all 4 Wisdom teeth removed recently. I had been putting it off for months and it was time. So glad I found this Office. I called Monet and her staff on a Mon. and they got me in for a same day evaluation and extraction by that same Wed.!! I was pleased to avoid "laughing gas" as they offer an oral sedation here. The cost quoted was $800 less than anyhwhere else as well. The first two days were tough eapecially with keeping food down (probably the painkillers), however, after the initial 48 hours it all got way easier. I am 10 days out now and feel good, almost great. Remember, ice immediately for 2-3 days, no drinking from a straw for at least 72 hours, gargle with salt water as directed and no smoking for at least 10 days and you too should heal nicely. Dr. Yee was very professional and comforting. I have two little bumps on my gum still that he assured me were normal and he said to come back for any reason and he would take care of it. DON'T GO HERE! I should have known that someone accepting that many Groupon offers needed business badly for a reason. When I bought the Groupons, only a few had purchased them. I went to Dr. Yee for a general check-up, cleaning, and xrays, and another for teeth whitening. Both times, the staff was gossipy, unprofessional, and complaining about their jobs and personal lives. The dentist tried to upsell me a very expensive $1K mouth guard, $10K worth of Lumineer veneers, wanted to charge me to file down a custom porcelain crown on a front tooth even when I declined because I thought it would get damaged. He then told me how bad I looked and called me a snaggle tooth because of the extra few millimeters of length. He never reviewed the xrays and then didn't want to clean my teeth because they were already "very clean." He then said he'd give me a flouride treatment instead, but the office tried to charge me extra for it. He was lazy, unprofessional, rude and fixated on money. When I went back for the whitening, I never saw the dentist. The assistant did the procedure. She told me all about a special gel that would make the whitening agent adhere better and give a better result. Then she tried to charge me extra for it. She left the room without checking the special lights; when she came back 15-20 minutes later I told her about it and then I had to do that portion over. When she tried to remove the plastic molded around my teeth, many pieces were stuck. She used a dental pick numerous times to try to remove it. She bruised my lip and poked/cut me with the pick 3 times. I had to ask her to be more careful. She never got the dentist for assistance. Also, both times the office was playing movies with sex, questionable language and violence (Aeon Flux, After the Sunset) even though he is a "family " dentist. read more
