Huge praises to Dr. Vartanian! 10 years ago, my front teeth broke after falling off of a bike. The lower half of my front tooth broke off and the corner of the other front took broke off. I wanted to salvage as much as I could of my own teeth as I did not want any sort of veneer or crown. Dr. Vartanian was able to bond the bottom half of my front tooth to the top portion successfully. For the most part, I ate like usual with the exception of biting into apples. Then this past Christmas night, I was eating a crispy spring roll and suddenly the bottom half of my tooth snapped off. I immediately put into a container of milk and was able to reach Dr. Vartanian. I should mention that at first one might think that, a spring roll is relatively soft and easy to eat, but he explained that it's the angle of pulling food away after biting that causes stress on the fracture line (torque). He successfully re-bonded my tooth the next morning! I'm very impressed with his skills and communication! I'm so grateful that he was available and willing to open up the office for emergency repair of my front tooth! It looks great! Thank you so very much Dr. Vartanian! read more

You know that part in the Matrix that shows all the humans in the little pods being used to generate power to keep the machines alive? If you do, and like being used and abused like that come see John Vartanian. If you want to be treated more like a person, go somewhere else. -First of all, you need to make an appointment at least 6 months ahead of time to get in. If you pick a time that ends up not working for you 6 months away, get ready for more waiting. I fell off the 6 month cleanings because of this. I actually took a couple years between cleanings because of this. They can put you on a cancellation list, but that means they give you a couple hours notice and they squeeze you in and rush you out. They have also asked to change my appointment time to better fit their schedule. You feel as if you are not important to them and you are inconveniencing them. -Second of all, the cleanings are decent, but that is not done by the doc, but if you need extra work (first of all make sure you need it, see below), its expensive and of poor quality. I supposedly needed a couple crowns, so I let him do one. It was supposed to be porcelain but after he started work, decided that it had to be gold. The crown didn't really fit, he had to grind down my good opposing tooth to make it fit and it still never fit my bite, but he said thats all he could grind down of my good tooth and the crown. So we left it. The tooth with a crown on it is still sensitive to cold a year later. So needless to say after dropping 500 bucks on a bad crown job and getting a messed up bite as a free bonus, I left. -Went to a DIFFERENT dentist and he looks at the other tooth that supposedly needs a crown and says, its chipped but not cracked and not splitting like Vartanian said it was, so it does NOT even need a crown. He did some tests and even showed me a picture of the problem tooth and explained everything in detail and my options. He said that maybe a filling if I wanted it but no crown. Good thing I saved myself 500 bucks and probably another good tooth that Vartanian would have ground down to make a crown fit. -Vartanian seemed a little too eager to jump to the conclusion of crowns. I just can't believe that he recommended something I didn't need. All he did was look at it for one second. Not even any tests. Maybe he really thought I needed the crowns. My guess, well, lets just say I want a dentist that I feel is concerned with the quality of my life (his patient), and not just making money to support his own quality of life. I would not recommend this place to anyone. You get bad dental care, bad service (they act fake nice to you while you are in there), treated like a number, rushed in and out, and overcharged here. That facility is nice, but the dentistry is not good. And to top it off, once he had some halitosis going on. Not major, but still stinky and unpleasant nonetheless. That should have been my first sign to stay way. Its like having a fat personal trainer, you'd think they'd practice what they preach. read more

My husband, kids and I have been going to Dr. Vartanian since he was just starting up his office. Back then, I suffered from really severe anxiety at dentist's, but Dr. V has been SO very, very patient with me and explained everything he did and checked I was okay. I am now perfectly fine with going to the dentist, and I credit Dr. V. and his patience. They have been really good with fitting us in, in case of emergencies and he has also helped my mother, when she was visiting from overseas and her dental prosthesis broke, he made sure it got fixed in a matter of days. His staff is always sweet and courteous, and the ladies usually stay with him for a very long time (tells me he treats his staff well). We have referred friends to his office, as well. First of all, respectfully, I am happy for all of Dr. Vartanian's patients that love him. My feelings are different, and it is time for a new dentist for me. The short story: I go to the dentist twice a year. Two cleanings and xrays annually. I brush and floss daily. I use Listerine too. Great. I know, thrilling. I have been going to Dr. Vartanian for 4-5 years and every visit that includes x-rays, the dental hygenist points out "dark spots" on my teeth. Dr. Vartanian comes in and looks at the xrays for 15 seconds and tells me I need fillings. Porcelain inlays to be exact this time. 2 cavities between teeth, 4 fillings. I buy the "$20 toothpaste" they sell because they say I need it. Yes. I fell for this sales pitch twice now. ughh, no more. After I find out the couple thousand dollars it will cost me because my PPO dental insurance covers a few hundred of it only... I kindly request a copy of my xrays. I sent my xrays to a highly recommended dentist in OC I was told to reach out to, and that dentist reviewed my xrays at no cost, called me after his work day and told me he didn't see any reason to drill OR put in porcelain inlays. What I was told: there are dark spots that he would watch, but the spots he sees are spots that are possibly even reversible with proper dental care. This new dentist (MY new dentist- yay!) told me to keep flossing daily, brush after every meal as possible, avoid highly acidic liquids/sodas, drink alkaline water and green teas, and it's quite possible I will never need a filling in my life. Oh, and by the way, stress causes cavities and other illnesses in the body. Do some yoga, smile, and don't stress. I am SOO relieved. Everyone should feel that kind of trust and relief with their doctors. Do yourself a favor, if your instincts tell you to get a 2nd opinion. Get one! Kindly request a copy of your xrays and keep dentists accountable. If you're happy with your dentist - share the love with others and refer them. I won't be back to Vartanians office, but I wish them well. I really don't like leaving reviews that direct people away from businesses. But I would never want anyone to feel like I did when I was told I needed these fillings, when in reality - I did not need any of them. I received 4 fillings the year before, and had a pit in my stomach telling me 'this seems wrong, my mouth feels great,' and now I am mad at myself for not taking time to get a 2nd opinion on those. So ...this is all worth it if this saves one person who is doubting their patient proposal for work to be done on their teeth. Get the 2nd opinion! read more

The team is very thorough and is great about reminding us to stay on schedule with our checkups and cleanings. In my most recent, I was not surprised to see that they put in new safety precautions with the inclusion of new equipment as well to make the visit safe for all. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Dr. Vartanian and his team. I have just finished getting eleven teeth capped and I am thrilled with the result. My teeth are finally straight, white and most importantly to me, they look really natural. I came to Dr. Vartanian last year after having had a terrible experience with another local dentist. That experience left me in terrible pain but too afraid to seek out help from another dentist. Soon the pain became unbearable and on a friend's recommendation I went to consult with Dr. Vartanian. From the minute I walked into the office I could not have felt more welcomed. Maria at the reception desk was exceptionally kind and made sure I was comfortable. During my consultation, Dr. Vartanian took over an hour talking to me, answering endless questions and explaining exactly what the procedure to repair the damage would be. He was kind, caring and patient. His knowledge, expertise and experience working with patients with dental phobias convinced to me to move forward with the work. Over the course of several appointments, I had all eleven teeth fixed. At no time during this process did I feel pressured or rushed. In fact the opposite, he encouraged me to take my time and move at my own pace. During each individual appointment Dr. Vartanian took his time making sure my mouth was numb. He repeatedly told me that I should not feel any pain while he worked and he made sure I didn't. He was gentle and meticulous. At each stage of my work, he discussed the progress with me to make sure that I was pleased with the results and when I asked for slight modifications, he was extremely accommodating. To be honest though, I didn't need to ask for many changes because Dr. Vartanian was extremely diligent in checking his own work and making sure that everything was perfect. I can't possibly finish my review without mentioning Dr. Vartanian's assistant, Beenie, who is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She always welcomed me in with a smile, stayed with me anytime I was feeling nervous and constantly checked to make sure I was okay during each procedure. She was also always ready with the necessary supplies to make things move smoothly and her calm nature really helped ease my anxiety. If you're someone who isn't afraid of getting dental work, this is a no brainer, go with Dr. Vartanian. But if you're someone like me who suffers from extreme anxiety about getting dental work done or have had a bad experience in the past, then you're probably reading this skeptically and agonizing over your decision. Don't. You have found your dentist. I've been going to Dr. Vartanian for around 15 years, since he was a new dentist. I loved him and his staff, and referred many friends to him. A couple of friends refuse to return, based on his recommended and expensive treatment recommendations. Recently he lost his best hygienist, Jan. What a blow. She is the reason I continued to drive 40 miles for appointments. As Dr. Vartanian has gotten more successful, I feel he cares less and less for his old, routine patients. I had a bad experience with a new hygienist, who was snippy and condescending, after the office encouraged me to drive in even though it would make me (even more) late. I'm over this office and so, so disappointed. Dr. Vartanian didn't care enough to follow up with me as requested--I was pretty mad over the way my last couple visits were handled. He had an appt scheduled and wasn't going to be able to do the root canal until later in the day but since I live so far away he rearranged his schedule to fit me in. Dr. Vartanian is the greatest dentist in all of the Western hemisphere! I have been going to see him along with my wife, my brother, my mother, my father, my sister, and I even have friends that continue to go see him for the last 8 years of my life. If he was even 1 % of what those other reviewers said believe me all of these people would not continue going to see him. He always gives it to me straight and I know that I am being diagnosed by someone that cares and not like many dentists who just always seem to find something wrong and they care more about bad mouthing other desist than the current state of your teeth. Dr. Vartanian has the greatest and most loyal team, they have all been with with since I can remember; the sweetest and kindest ladies you will ever find. My hygienist Jan is sooooo absolutely fantastic; when she cleans my teeth it is always a pleasure because I don't feel any pain or any discomfort; just bliss at knowing that I have the best around taking care of my teeth. I just had the laser "zoom" whitening done at Dr. Vartanian's office. It was my first visit to his practice. I always thought the cost of the procedure was a bit high, but now I understand why it's pricey - they were really careful and totally pro about it. I think it can be a very uncomfortable procedure in the wrong hands, but Dr. Vartanian's assistant, who only does these procedures, was really great about keeping me comfortable and not nervous. I had a night guard made something like $200. Well my dog ate it I went back asked for replacement from my mold, they said they destroy it making the guards. So he does this big to do about measuring and all new mouth guard. It arrives(2 weeks) and does not fit. He grinds and grinds and it never fit. So he made another (2 weeks) that never fit. I had something like $500 into this new one. I was refunded $250 of it and no night guard! He claimed he still had to pay the lab even if it never worked. Cleanings bookings were 6 months and really not very good. When I switched to another dentist after the mouth guard nonsense, was told my cleanings should have been far more thorough, I had one painful cleaning to make up for years at Vartanians. read more

My entire family and I have been going to Dr. Vartanian since 2001. His education and training are exceptional. He is also a true artist at reconstructive cosmetic dentistry. My wife and I used Dr. Vartanian for about 10 years and were always very happy. He has the nicest staff and dental hygenists you will ever find. I had fillings and crowns done there have had no problems with any of them. Dr. Vartanian was always personable and professional. Unfortunately we had a change of insurance and had to leave the office, and have not been able to find anyone as good so far. If there were a higher rating for Dr. Vartanian and his office I would give it to them. We did not have the best insurance for dental and it did not matter to anyone in his office. Once my Mother was visiting from out of town and a crown that another dentist had put in broke and they took her in immediately and did the work at a very reasonable price. My only regret is they don't take Delta Care insurance and we had to leave. The only reason I checked this site is to compare the best dentist with the others I have been yelping because there is such a disparity of reviews. Now I know a few bad reviews don't make a difference since even the best Dentist has a couple of bad ones.
