Ive dined here many times over the years. The food is always top notch. I've never had something I didn't love at Kenaki. I recommend getting one of everything.

Green dragon, truffle roll, old bae roll.

Food poisoning less than 8 hrs after. Host was rude when sitting us down. Waitress was friendly.

    Drink - Passion Paradise - October 2024

Pan Seared Scottish Salmon - wasn't listed on the dinner menu, but when I asked for it, they had it and shared they still have it, but just not on the menu (hidden item or is it being phased out??). Hojicha Pot De Crème - exactly what it is - a pot of crème. Cream at both the top and bottom. I wasn't thinking when I ordered it - will have to try another dessert next time. It consisted of roasted green tea custard, whipped cream, puffed rice, and cinnamon dust. Passion Paradise drink - when it was brought to me, the employee (I think she was a host) spilled some of the drink on the table and was aware she made a bit of a mess. I waited for her to wipe the spill she made or at least bring some napkins so I could clean it up. Nope...she never came back to my table. I ended up having to ask my waitress/server and they cleaned it up immediately for me. Back to my review - Drink was delicious. Not too strong, not overly sweet and nowhere near being bitter. It was perfect. I'll have that again. It consisted of passion fruit and guava, vodka, sake, and elderflower. Yum. Visited October 2024.

Kenaki has been one of my go-to sushi spots in MoCo so it's disappointing to leave a less-than-stellar review. My partner and I came in on a Friday night to celebrate our anniversary and ordered a good amount of food: the Shrimp Tempura, Kurobuta Shumai, J-Pop Roll, Green Monster Roll, Crunchy Spicy Scallop Maki Roll, and two sashimi dishes (we eat a lot lol). We received the tempura first, but after about 30-40 minutes, only the sashimi arrived--no second appetizer or rolls. Meanwhile, a table seated after us had already been fully served. We eventually flagged down our server, who checked her notepad and apologized, admitting she had forgotten to put in the rest of our order. She asked if we still wanted it, but after waiting so long, we decided to pass. The manager did offer a complimentary dessert, which was appreciated, but it didn't quite make up for the situation--especially on a night we were really looking forward to. Kenaki has been great in the past, so I'm hoping this was just a rare off night.

Uni (CA) nigiri, Scottish Sake Toro Aburi (seared salmon belly), and White Tiger

Delicious sushi! The uni was pretty good, it was not as sweet as other uni I had, so next time I will try the uni from Japan. The Scottish Sake Toro Aburi (seared salmon belly) had great flavor from the sweetness and freshness of the salmon, and the torched flavor. And the White Tiger was really great! The only thing I think it did not need was the apple slice inside. It did add a different texture, but I couldn't taste it, and the crunch of the chili crunch on top did that. I would definitely come back to try other sushi and dishes!

Loved my takeout experience here! It is helpful that you can note your allergies and they accommodate accordingly. Very thoughtful since usually when getting take out, the platform doesn't have allergy options.

My favorite quality sushi spot in gaithersburg. The beets by Ken is my favorite small plate. The sesame sauce works so well with the beats. The blueberry bread pudding dessert with matcha cream is really good. The deep sea sushi is my favorite and has really nice complex flavors. The spicy salmon is a large cut from the belly (best part) And I got the guava drink which surprisingly complemented the flavors of the sushi.

I got sushi the day after my wedding and it was divine! We also went back a couple days after to actually eat in the restaurant and the vibe there is very chill! I got many sushi roll and nigiri the first time, as well as a bento box the second! My vegan husband can eat here easily too which we really appreciate! Food is excellent and came quickly!

This sushi place located in the heart of the Kentlands has excellent, very fresh sushi. I really like their Chirashi bowl. It's a lot of food. It comes in a wide round bowl, attractively served. There aren't a lot of Asian restaurants in Darnestown and the few that are here are mostly lackluster. However, this sushi place can stand up to the best in downtown Bethesda or Rockville. Service is friendly. They do not serve udon noodles here but have lots of small appetizers and large selection of rolls.

Came in when we found the place we wanted to eat at was 10 minutes from closing. We remember when this used to be Hakuba, so there was a lot of wonder as to what we might encounter when walking in Very glad my vegetarian husband found something to enjoy as the menu is very fish/meat heavy (as to be expected of a Japanese fusion restaurant. For my drink, I ordered the Osaka Mule - which, if you like shiso, I highly recommend. The New Spicy Tuna was full of flavor and very good! I wish I could have said the same about their Tamago-zushi. The egg tasted more of their refrigerator than of anything else. It's hard when we just got back from Japan where the egg is made fresh and served warm, but it was a disappointment even compared to other tamago nigiri we've had. The dessert was actually a little weird after eating food that was very Japanese/American fusion. It would have been better if the blueberries weren't part of it at all, and they played with more matcha flavor and sweetness. Or added a side of matcha gelato or something to balance the tart of the blueberries and the warm of the pudding. Overall, not a bad experience. And even with two alcoholic drinks, the price was decent. It easily gets noisy inside, but the service was great!

The best sushi in the DMV area. Creative, high quality, fancy and delicious rolls that are actually reasonably priced! The most delicious rolls we've had around here. The staff were great and accommodating and so efficient. The cocktails were so fun and tasty! Highly recommended!

First off today was my first time dining at Kenaki. My sis and I had ordered 3 rolls and added a 4th (Philly roll) mid way. The food was amazing. Quality of the fish was superb! I enjoyed the salmon. It was super fresh. The waitress was even nice enough to bring a small water bowl for my dog as we sat in the outdoor seating. Service: However we waited about half an hour or more for just ONE roll. The service was just very slow even though it made the eating experience not as enjoyable. We had even called beforehand if there was any wait times. They had told me no. The sushi rolls are good though, but the wait for the Philly roll took forever. It was still pretty good. Maybe a second try here in the future would be better if the service was handled quicker and better.

California roll. Cream cheese and salmon roll too.

We ordered some app, sushi, and a ton of meats. The sushi was so/so the ikura was a bit fishy/not the freshest, but I gave it a pass since it was included in the AYCE. The fried lotus was surprisingly my favorite non meat dish. Our friend rice was served lukewarm (the consistency of rice was a bit uneven like older rice that was left out for a bit) and way too oily so we had to send it back. Had no issues with the meat and service - although it was a tad slow and the 10 minute cooldown between ordering was unexpected. Our server was great and kept checking in with us. A few items we ordered never made it out to us, but at that point we were too full to care. My main complaint was with one of the hosts. We finished our meal and thanked our waiter and made our way back to the parking garage. From behind, we heard a very loud "EXCUSE ME." We originally thought we had dropped something and someone was looking out for us, but was appalled when she followed us halfway across the street and said "you think you're just going to leave without paying for your mocktail?" That was hands down the rudest I've been treated by a customer service based establishment. I've worked in hospitality and know you should never accuse a customer of anything. To make matters worse, she got the wrong people - we never ordered a mocktail. Will likely not return to Gyuzo for a while and stick to other bbq places with better service.

It was really popular that evening, so the three of got squished at the table meant for two, but we didn't mind. The menu is pretty extensive, offering ramen, udon, tonkatsu, rice bowls, grilled fish sets, and more. We ordered pretty quickly, but with how busy it was, it took a bit for the food to come out CHILEAN SEA BASS - 37 As I scanned through, my eyes immediately fell on the miso sea bass. Despite the price point, I knew I had to go for it because sea bass is hard to find around here. This set came with rice, house salad, miso soup, and cold tofu. The sides were pretty standard -- no compliments, but no complaints either. On the other hand, the sea bass was wonderful. Super creamy and soft, with a strong miso sweetness that packed so much umami upon each bite. I would definitely splurge on this set just for the sea bass. My friend got the ramen and didn't love it, so I'll probably avoid that during future visits. The katsu curry that the table next to us ordered looked and smelled amazing. Overall, food was delicious and homey. I'd definitely recommend!

The katsu was delicious, and the sashimi was super fresh. The combo also came with the cutest little side dishes, really adorable presentation overall. The staff was also incredibly attentive about my friend's allergies (dairy and nuts). They kept checking in with us and even showed us the sauce ingredients to make sure everything was safe. One of the staff members called my friend "kawaii" after hearing her long list of allergies lol, and honestly, that made my day.

After waiting a while, our waitress finally came over and took our order. We ordered an appetizer first while deciding on our entrees. A few minutes later, the exact same waitress returned and asked if we wanted to order any appetizers, apparently forgetting that we had already done so. I specifically asked whether the salmon in the Philly roll was fresh or smoked because I don't like smoked salmon. I was assured it was fresh. When it arrived, it was clearly smoked salmon. The bao buns were actually pretty good, although the lettuce was wilted and looked like it had been sitting around for a while. A different server eventually took our entrée order. Less than five minutes later, that same server came back and asked if we were ready to close out our check, despite the fact that we were still waiting for our food and had not received our entrees yet. When the food finally arrived, the ramen was disappointing. The noodles were undercooked and the broth was excessively salty. The katsu curry was the highlight of the meal and was genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the miso soup that accompanied it was overloaded with dashi powder and tasted overwhelmingly fishy. Which made sense with the overpowering fish market smell upon entering the restaurant. To top it all off, when we were ready to leave, the server brought the credit card receipt for signature but forgot to bring a pen. Between the repeated service mistakes, incorrect menu information, lack of attention to the table, and inconsistent food quality, I'm genuinely surprised this restaurant has managed to stay in business. There are too many good ramen spots out there to justify returning here.

There's a limit on nigiri/sashimi to one piece per order. What that means is that, when you put in your first (and subsequent orders), you can order one tuna, one salmon, etc nigiri/sashimi. That is a lot better than what I originally thought, which was one nigiri/sashimi total for each round. The variety in the AYCE is impressive. Lots of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, variety of appetizers (not all fried stuff!) and hibachi (beef, chicken and shrimp). Tonight, the food arrived pretty quickly after we put in an order. There was an issue toward the end of the evening when the app stopped working at our table and the table next to ours. The Staff did what they could to fix things; it did take about 20 minutes, though. I'm assuming this isn't typical. Staff did say that this does happen from time to time and the customer needs to exit the app and reorder. Except for the 20 minute delay, things worked fine. We placed at least 12 small orders during our meal. The staff was very good about filling water glasses, bringing our food and taking away empty plates. Really - high praise for the staff.
