Large chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn
    Daniel D.

First off cash or check only and saw this place on Beard Meets Food. The chicken fried steak was awesome. The batter was really crispy. For the large, there's 3 side if you don't want the salad. As for the half, only 2 sides. There was something off with the biscuit though. Atmosphere was nice a lot of memorabilia. Food came out fairly quick about less than 15 minutes since we got there an hour after they opened.

We got them at the end!

I'll be honest and I see the over 200+ reviews and most are 5's & 4's. A 3 star probably isn't worthy but I'll explain. First, I called ahead to determine best time to avoid before the restaurant gets crowded. Our group of four arrived about 4:30 and although we were seated right away the place was quite busy! Our server Heather was great! She was willing to explain everything and even told us about the challenge. Not that I had any aspirations to try it but my friend wanted to size it up. The restaurant itself was inviting and gave you the feel of home cooking. My wife & I order the same; the Pond & Pasture since each of us wanted the Chicken Fried Steak & Catfish. The salads arrived right on time and the homemade dressing are awesome! A short time later the main course arrived. Great plate appearance! However, only the Chicken Fried Steak was warm/hot; the rest of the plate was merely just warm enough to eat. Could I have sent back? Of course, but we waited all day to eat! I ate the Chicken Fried Steak first and yes it was delicious! The rest of the meal was just luke warm, it seemed as if this was plated first, sat under a heat lamp and waited for the Chicken Fried Steak to be served. I managed to eat most of the meal but still left food on the plate. I don't care for cold catfish! I guess this happens when you're a popular restaurant! Overall this place is worthy but I just seemed to think that that those plating mistakes can hamper a great experience!

Wow wow wow. 12 out of 10 stars. The food was all phenomenal, hot, and fresh. The vibe inside is lowkey and comfortable. Our waitress Heather gave some of the best service, we never had an empty glass. WILL BE BACK SOON!

    Good eatins. Comfort food.

A good place for home cooking. The walls are covered with memorabilia of Oklahoma history. They have diet Dr Pepper, which is a huge plus for me. Why didn't I give them five stars? It was quite the wait to get a table for two and I've never been a fan of the what seems to be bag salad. I'm a huge fan of salads because I am a type one diabetic. So the only thing I could do with the cinnamon roll that they gave me was pass it to my friend before I accidentally ate it. I have to recommend the cinnamon rolls because they look to be perfect. The food was good. The service was good. I would definitely go back.

This was a fun experience! If you're craving some chicken fried steaks and the traditional American meal, this is the place for you! It's a cute little vintage place and we came to eat on a Saturday night for my husband's birthday. They were very busy, but we were seated quickly. They are very kid friendly so bring all the kids. I can tell you there's nothing breathtaking about the place or the food. It's traditional chicken fried steaks, gravy and potatoes. You can get any sides you want but I recommend getting the ranch dressing with your salad. They make the ranch dressing here and it is just amazing. When the waitress told me I thought there is no way it is that good but it is REALLY good! It is quite a drive so we won't go all the time but we would definitely visit again in the future.

History in this place. They are still cash only. We ordered the half Chicken Fry with choice of potato , a veg, biscuit and little cinnamon roll. I had fries and extra crispy Okra. Fries good, okra maybe a little too crispy. Husband had tater tots and good corn. We were thinking we didn't care for mashed potatoes last time we visited. The half was plenty for us. It's mostly crisp coating, super thin meat. The regular size comes with a small salad. I noticed a charge for extra anything.....cheese, dressing etc.. so skip the salad. I think I heard you could get another veg instead. All pretty good, just kinda uneventful. Service was good. Sweet tea good. ATM machine for cash.

Pond and Pasture (catfish and chicken fried steak) with green beans, mashed potatoes...includes hushpuppies and a biscuit.

The "Pond and Pasture" (CFS and catfish) was really good. I liked the batter on the chicken fry and it was fork tender. Next time I'll order the gravy on the side because there was more than enough to take home. The thin catfish strips and tartar sauce were also very good. The green beans (w/bacon) and mashed potatoes were as expected. And the complimentary, homemade cinnamon role was a nice ending. We drove an hour to try this restaurant and everyone at our table said they'd come back!

This place has been on our restaurant bucket list (and not just because it is said to be haunted) for quite some time and Kendall's did not disappoint! There was ample parking right in front of the restaurant and a nice area to wait outside if you arrive before they open (they have limited hours of operation, so make sure to check that they are open). When the restaurant opened, we were warmly greeted and the door was held open for us as we entered which was a nice touch. Our server was fast, friendly and professional making sure our order was brought to our table quickly and that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal.....the world famous chicken fried steak! My chicken fried steak had an amazing , light, almost tempura-like crisp batter coating (I would almost consider working there for free just to get the recipe!) that was topped with a delicious country gravy and came with french fries that were perfect (that slightly crisp exterior with a nicely done, soft interior) and fried okra that was made with the same, obvious care. It was happy tummy dance delicious! My partner had the Pond and Pasture Platter (a half sized chicken fried steak with a serving of fish) creamy mashed potatoes and corn which he said was great. He enjoyed his so much that he had me try a piece of his fish that practically melted in my mouth. The atmosphere was family like with many patrons in a great mood, talking amongst their own tables as well as with others....this could have been because of the fun, enjoyable event taking place that evening.... The Chicken Fried Steak Challenge being taken on by both Katina of "Katina Eats Kilos" and Randy "Atlas" Santel. Both were kind and gracious, greeting and interacting with restaurant patrons before and after they each successfully took on the challenge. It was wonderful to find out that they were (individually and together) as down to earth , enjoyable, and approachable as they seem in their videos. This was one of the most memorable date nights we have had; we will definitely be going back for the service and food alone,

The building entrance is kinda weird if you're not entering directly from the side of the street it's on, but it's definitely something you can figure out. We got the bayou mix butter/seasoning which had a little bit of a kick- good for me but on the spicier side for my husband. One thing I would recommend is watching a video on how to open the crab legs up prior to coming. We figured it out eventually with the tools they have but it took some practice. We also asked the staff there and she said she didn't know how to either which was pretty strange for that being a big item on their menu. Overall we enjoyed the food.

Ordered the 2 piece fish lunch special at the counter, took about 5 to 10 minutes, and it was brought out to me. Decent size of food for the $9.99 price. They were playing cool music to go along with the Louisiana theme and it was enjoyable. 2 more groups of people walked in while I was there, so they were very slow for lunch. I don't know if it's locally owned, but I try to eat local in Edmond as much as possible, go give them a try!
