ONLY IF...and ONLY IF you want to go to one of the best restaurants ever in the world then do I suggest going to Kendall's Restaurant in Noble, Oklahoma! Sure, it may have been a distance to drive, but my family and I left with full bellies, full hearts, 2 take home boxes full of food (three counting the four extra cinnamon rolls that I bought for only $5.00), and lastly, without a care of how much we ate because it was just too dang good to care. When we came in we waited, not for very long, but for the time we did we shopped at their little gift shop that had their shirts and famous homemade cinnamon rolls. When we (my fam) were seated we all ordered the original chicken fry for 13.99 each which came with salad, green beans, a biscuit, our choice of potato and their complimentary cinnamon roll. When we got our salad we all quickly devoured it and thankfully the salads weren't too big as in some restaurants in which you can't enjoy your meal but it also wasn't too small to where we wondered if all we got was lettuce and dressing. They homemake their dressings, and man do they know how to make dressing. My mother and I both loved our ranch and my stepdad enjoyed his Italian. As the food came out at a very reasonable time, we quickly dug into what we found was a plate of Heaven. When I first tasted the chicken fry I almost lost my mind when I tasted what is literally the best chicken fry I have ever experienced (and there's a lot in Oklahoma that I've tasted)! It wasn't overly breaded, perfectly fried, and was hot, tender, flavorful, juicy, fresh, and completely amazing! The gravy on it was almost just as good and was creamy, hot and amazing. The green beans were also some of the best I've ever had, (my mom even insists that they tasted as if they were fresh from a garden) and the biscuit was light, tender, flaky, and buttery. Thanks to yelp and my mom being here before a long time ago, we had already seen the size of the meals and planned to save half for the next day. As the free cinnamon rolls were brought out we all took a bite of the most amazing homemade cinnamon rolls that have ever been made. To be honest I don't know enough adjectives to describe how amazing they are but I will say they are one of the greatest things you'll ever taste (I even bought my family and I a pack of cinnamon rolls for home for another day [that is if they make it another day because they are so good they may be gone tonight])! Don't be fooled by the pictures!!! Hubby got the original size chicken fried steak and I got a half order of catfish. What a joke!!! His steak might, and I mean MIGHT, have been 1/4 lb. cube steak hammered down to less than an 1/8 inch thick and buried in tasteless batter for $14.99. I've never in my life seen anyone do to fish what they did. They cut the fish into pieces about the size and shape of a pencil, if that, but about 2/3 the length of one, they were also buried in tasteless batter, and there were 3 pieces for $9.99, one of which had no fish at all in half of it. The sides were just "meh" as well. The decor was old and dingy, and the restaurant itself was VERY dark and uninviting. This place was a total let down all the way around. We couldn't be more disappointed, literally. And we drove from NW OKC to try it... Don't waste your time or money. Service was good as always and the food was out in short order. The issue is the food has fallen off significantly. I ordered the Burrito Plate - described as two deep friend burritos covered in lettuce, cheese, chili. Came as described, but the burrito was (I'm 99% sure) was a store-bought or frozen burrito. The chicken fried steak my wife had was 50% breading, too thin, and lacked seasoning. We experienced similar let downs the last time we ate there, several months ago. I was not impressed with Kendall's. We came on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated immediately. The restaurant had a musty smell. I got the chicken fried steak. It was pretty good. Mashed potatoes were not good. No corn served on Saturdays?? I never realized corn was so hard to make. I thought the place was just dirty inside. Bathroom was the same. The whole place seemed as if it needed a good deep cleaning. Waitress was nice, but forgot us a couple times. Cashing out we found out about the cash only. The cashier was very rude about it. He ordered some potato wedges for an appetizer & a side of the catfish. The wedges were a typical appetizer, nothing crazy but still good. The catfish was brought out with just a few small pieces to try & it was amazing. Very lightly breaded & the tarter sauce was magic. I would definitely get the meal in the future. Three words, ladies and gents: One dollar salads. They have the cutest house salad that includes a single cherry tomato for one single doll hair. It is yummy, it is pleasing to the eye, and if you're a glutton like me, they will give you two, one-dollar salads. Oh but wait, there's more. The mashed potatoes were super yummy in my tummy and the rolls were compact layers of love and butter but if you leave this review with only one thing, let it be this: The cinnamon rolls are how I will die. Was in OKC and had time to kill so we went to Norman to tour the campus. Needed a good chicken fry and this was recommended by Yelpers and they didn't let me down. The lunch portion was only 10 dollars and included a GIANT chicken fry, 2 sides, biscuit and homemade cinnamon roll. Loved the chicken fry, biscuit and cinnamon roll, also got okra which is always good. The only fault I would give this place is that their mashed potatoes and gravy aren't homemade. Its not a deal breaker but I ended up getting green beans and they weren't my favorite. It may be a moot point though as I'm an eater and I couldn't finish hardly anything because the portion sizes were so big-even on a lunch menu. I'm never actually sure what to expect when I go to a place that's highly praised. Most of the time I feel like it's underwhelming because very rarely can a place match the expectations that most people speak of. Kendall's manages to do that. Probably the best Chicken Fried Steak I've had in Oklahoma. Considering the price as well? These things are 3/4th the size of the plate they come on. I went big and got two of them, at $18, and it was well worth it to have a full meal while I was sitting there and a whole CFS to take home with me for later. Then when you're finished they're bringing out a cinnamon roll. It manages to be on par with the chicken fried steak. I tend to not ever really want to go somewhere far off for food, but this was easily worth the drive. I'd gladly make another drive to Kendall's. read more

We've wanted to go here for years and finally made the trip for a late lunch Saturday afternoon. We were immediately seated at 2:30, and our waitress was adorable, friendly, and attentive. We are something of chicken fried steak snobs and let me tell you - we were not disappointed. It was fairly thin (which we like) and the batter was crispy and freshly fried. From the mashed potatoes and gravy to the green beans and biscuits, it was all phenomenal. Even the side salad with homemade ranch with little homemade croutons was divine! But the absolute coup de grace was the cinnamon rolls which come with every meal. They were moist and warm and took us way back to homemade lunch lady cinnamon roll days in the elementary cafeteria. My husband made the comment that every bite was like eating the center. To top it off all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a great experience, Kendall's. Not exactly sure how I come to hear about this place but sure am glad I did!!! My family and I came in after a Sooners game and the wait was minimal. The service was impeccable. I really wasn't sure how the novelty of this place would translate to their food but I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first bite into my Chicken Fried Steak. I have heard about this restaurant for years and we finally went for dinner. I truly wish I hadn't waited so long. My husband and I both got the chicken fried steak (I got the small, he got the original sized). It was the best we're ever had. Our son got the patty melt and loved it.
