Ordered the 2 piece fish lunch special at the counter, took about 5 to 10 minutes, and it was brought out to me. Decent size of food for the $9.99 price. The fries were ok, the hush puppies were good, but small, and the 2 decent sized catfish were good too. They were playing cool music to go along with the Louisiana theme and it was enjoyable. 2 more groups of people walked in while I was there, so they were very slow for lunch. Hole in the wall Cajun/seafood spot in Edmond. I've probably driven by here hundreds of times and never noticed it. The building entrance is kinda weird if you're not entering directly from the side of the street it's on, but it's definitely something you can figure out. My husband and I got the Monday special- 2 for $32 and it was a perfect serving of food for us. We got the bayou mix butter/seasoning which had a little bit of a kick- good for me but on the spicier side for my husband. One thing I would recommend is watching a video on how to open the crab legs up prior to coming. We figured it out eventually with the tools they have but it took some practice. We also asked the staff there and she said she didn't know how to either which was pretty strange for that being a big item on their menu. Overall we enjoyed the food. read more

Finally got a chance to try Bayou Jaq's Seafood Shack and it did not disappoint!! My husband and I both ordered the Fried Shrimp basket and we both devoured them. The fried shrimp had the slightest of kick (I'm admittedly "Born to be Mild") but not too hot even for me. The shrimp were crispy and flavorful and the fries were very crispy, reminding me of the curly fries from a roast beef chain. I didn't even bother with ketchup. The food was reasonably priced, hot without any grease, and arrived very quicker than expected. We will definitely be back! read more

Took my kids to try this place out and it was great. My daughter isn't a fan of fish or shrimp but when she took a bite of catfish bites that instantly became her meal. I'm not a huge fan of fried catfish but this place knows how to cook it. They had the best catfish we have ever ate anywhere. read more

Great spot to grab a meal, we tried a little bit of everything! We had fried catfish and shrimp as well as a crab boil with shrimp. Everything was perfectly cooked. Restaurant was clean and nicely done. The young lady working the counter was super friendly and walked us through the menu which was helpful because there's a lot on it. 4.5/5 - Since my favorite catfish place closed a year or two ago, I've been searching for replacement. Bayou Jaq's jumped to the top of my list. To be honest, there's a lot of pretty good catfish out there, but none that's made me want to pledge 'til death do us part. A lot would be better if the breading were seasoned a bit more or - and I see this a lot - needs another 30-60 seconds in the fryer. Bayou Jaq's is super seasoned and it's perfectly crisp without being burnt. I ordered the catfish basket expecting four small pieces. Nope. These were full-sized filets. You more than get your money's worth. I was initially sad to see they came with waffle fries, but these are seasoned and crisp. The fish was perfectly fried, yielding a crispy breading and firm flesh. The cornmeal breading has tons of flavor, but here's where that half-star went: it was super salty. I'm a saltaholic and made it through the first two filets fine. After the last two, I felt like I'd been sucking on a salt shaker. Even so, I enjoyed it so much! I suspect that's not the norm. Lord knows I've over-salted things, so I'll not cast the first stone. The place is clean and the staff were great. I can't wait to try one of their boils. I will definitely be back soon. read more

I'm always looking for a new spot to eat. Bayou Jaq's was a great find. From the hush puppies with corn to the fried okra and waffle fries flavor and comfort abounds. The fried shrimp and catfish were excellent. I'll be back for a boil. read more

Finally got around to trying this place. Overall, I was disappointed. We had catfish, shrimp, sweet tots, hush puppies, and fried okra. Nothing was bad, but there was nothing to make me want to come back (and pay those prices) again. The breading on the fish and shrimp is that loose, sandy type. Not much flavor. Sweet tots are little balls of sweet potatoes; not crispy like tator tots. Hush puppies were good, but have to be ordered as an appetizer. I'd prefer a small side and then include a couple with the meal. read more

I'm super picky about Cajun food and seafood. I will DEFINITELY BE EATING HERE AGAIN. The portions were generous and everything was hot and well seasoned. I was a little skeptical because ordering seafood boils for delivery seems like it could easily end in disappointment (not getting enough, it arriving cold, etc.) but this completely exceeded my expectations. It was a perfect portion, it arrived hot, and the taste was amazing. I got the Jaq's crab and shrimp and the only thing I'd complain about is not having anymore to eat (even being stuffed full after finishing). SO GOOD!!! We have driven past this place several times and finally stopped in for dinner. It did not disappoint. We tried the boiled shrimp and crab and both were so yummy! The hush puppies were the best we've had in Oklahoma since moving here. I did not get a picture because they did not last long on the table.
