I originally looked up and booked an appointment here for my husband who refuses to go to a doctor or dentist when he's in pain and they were able to get him in and when I went inside to pay for his visit, they got me to book an appointment for a cleaning (Lord knows I was well overdue for one because I have the worst teeth issues since I was young). My husband has a female dentist at the time but I was scheduled with Dr. Jason Byun. Anyways, I've been here for maybe a little over a year now with my regular cleanings, deep cleanings, more major procedures and every time they have all been so kind and they really listen to you when you're describing the issues you have. And when you're someone like me with a history of problems... it's really nice of them to genuinely care for their patients. Today I went in for another cleaning and Leila was just very knowledgeable and helpful answering questions as to what is happening inside my mouth rather than the usual "make sure you brush your teeth and floss". The front desk staff was also warm which made the whole experience even better. :) It's now the next night and my aligners feel snug but still comfortable...I was able to sleep through the night just fine and feel like I'm adjusting. I'll be changing my trays every two weeks with a total of 10 trays in my treatment plan, so a total of 5 months. Dr. Lin let me know that if I have any discomfort he's happy to take a look and make adjustments. So far so good and I'm really looking forward to finally getting the smile I've wanted for years!

My wife has very high levels of anxiety around dentists, so when our previous dentist of 10 years retired, it was a difficult time for her. I went first, and explained it to the staff and arranged for a simple 1 hour first visit. When she got there, they insisted I had told them she wanted a 2 hour visit using nitrous oxide. My wife called me, and I needed to clear it up on the phone because they wouldn't listen to her in the office. When I went in for a simple 1 hour cleaning, they insisted they wanted to do a whitening process that would take 2 hours. When I refused that service, they sent me a letter refusing any further service. All I heard was very nice words, but in this case, actions speak louder.

I'll preface this by saying that my anxiety around dental procedures seems to be getting worse, not better, but thanks to Dr. Jarrett and his staff, I continue to get treatment. I was really anxious about my recent crown appointment and multiple things kept getting in the way, causing met to reschedule, which only added to the anxiety. Thankfully, Dr. Jarrett's office offers nitrous (for a small-ish fee). What I sincerely appreciate about his staff is that they don't judge when they know you need the nitrous to get through your appointment. I've never felt pressured NOT to get it. In fact, one of the staff members noticed that I didn't have it on there for my 2 week follow up, asked me about it, and promptly added it on. Anywho, the day comes, and I'm laying back in the chair, waiting, for the "party" to get started. Dr. Jarrett comes in, we catch up, he explains what's going to happen today and why he's placing the crown. Anxiety is, of course, building, I'm starting to sweat, and I just really don't want to be there, but this cracked tooth ain't gonna heal itself. Randomly, I'm just trying to think of anything that will make this better and I overhear the office music that's playing. I asked if any other patients were in the office at the time (I always book a late appointment), they say yes, one other, and I wonder out loud if we can turn the music up. Dr. Jarrett was like, "absolutely. We can turn it up on this side of the office." I don't know where this staff member came from, but almost immediately a voice asks if there's anything specific I want to listen to. At first, I was like, "No, I'm good." And then immediately followed up with, "Wait! Is Prince an option?" Ya'll when I tell you the relief that washed over me when they were all like, "We got you!" I can't even articulate. "1999" starts playing, the energy of the staff increases even though they're already SUPER friendly and I relax just a bit more. That is, until it's time for the needle... I had to ask for a break 3 or 4 times during the procedure, and each time Dr. Jarrett was immediately responsive, patient, and reassuring. He let me know where we were at each point in the procedure and let me know that I was doing great. I really have no justification for my anxiety as I've never had a truly bad experience, but my fear of dental pain is top notch. Dr. Jarrett and his team are so thoughtful, kind, patient, and accommodating that I know my family and I will be patients for years to come.

I proceeded to tell her about my phone conversation with Dr. M and it blew up the room! Instantly her temperament changed and she went to get the other gal from the office, I was so taken back by how they handled this situation and basically told I was lying, I just said I would wait for them to talk to Dr. M it never got better!!! They were visibly angry as if i was making it all up. Today was the day for me to get my crown, what an uncomfortable situation. As soon as my name was called to go go back I was taken to the desk for payment I hadn't been provided the service yet and I told the gal everything I've written here. It wasn't the misunderstanding from Dr. M providing the information about doing a payment plan, it was how it was handled so very, poorly. I really expected an apology . I refused to give them a credit card or 3 posted dated checks, just the $200 today they will get the other two payments scheduled but why on earth would I show them any respect or trust with my accounts after how they treated me. I'm in disbelief of their conduct. Last, but not least! Had the front desk answered the phone so the doctor didn't, this never would have happened and the entire outcome would be much different.

This office is very friendly and comfortable. A great place for dental care. They adhered to all the requirements for handling patients during the pandemic. I had no health concerns while in the office. This was my first dental office where I experienced getting a crown in a single one hour visit. My prior experience was needing to schedule two visits with prep for the crown in the first visit and installation of the crown a couple of weeks later. That has been a wonderful experience. I have been a patient of Dr. Shumaker's for 15 years or longer.

We got all the paperwork out of the way pretty quick, next to X-ray, and off to anesthetics. The nurse was so caring, it seemed unreal, she really didn't like causing me pain, so very appreciated. Can't recommend them enough, the amount of care seemed to me untouchable. If you're like me & don't care to visit the dentist, I believe this might be the place for you too.
