First time doing color here! On a whim I dyed my finally virgin dirty blonde hair to a red brown and hated it. It was boring, zero dimension and just wasn't feeling it. I live close to Kennaland so went to Dennis for a consultation. Made an appointment same day. I wanted a low maintenance back to blonde look and I told Dennis to do what he felt would look natural but also fun. It went beyond expectations!!! He was so careful not to ruin my hair with bleach and the result is a warm honey with dimension. Pretty unique color and it suits me. Phew!!!! Thank you so much Dennis!!! I went and got my haircut here about a year ago. I wish I would have read the reviews before... I believe the women I saw is more known for coloring, but at the time I had no idea. All to say, I asked for long layers and showed her pictures of what I wanted. My hair was a long simple blunt cut before and I walked out looking like Joan Jet...aka not at all what I wanted. Also, the cut was outrageously uneven. I hate to leave a bad review, but my confidence for the past year has been completely butchered. Every time I look at my hair I want to cry. Second time getting my haircut here over the past 8 months which is UNHEARD OF because I usually wait a good year and change between cuts. But I love what Amy does too much to stay away. This place is gold. Had been going as a Greenpoint local for years, trusting Jenna with my color (and when I say trust, it's the "just do whatever you want to freshen me up" kind). She's never let me down. I no longer live in NYC, but I still co-ordinate my hair appointments with my visits to Brooklyn. And my last visit, I just needed a trim, but the gal I'd booked with sadly had COVID, and they asked if I could re-schedule. Normally that would have been a yes, but since I'd booked the trip to the city (even choosing a local Greenpoint hotel) hoping to get my hair in shape, I sent an "SOS! My hair needs help!" message, and they totally took care of me. The owner of the salon himself stepped in to fill the haircut, and of course, Kenna is amazing. He's created not just a beautiful space with Kennaland, but there's a lovely (and super hip) community of stylists there that really care about you, and your hair. I have not been to a hair salon since well before Covid. I have had a buzz cut for 30+ years, and barbers and the occasional stylist cut it for me. During the pandemic I grew it out, to see, and it was not a great look. My husband finally relented the day before our daughter's wedding, despite his Covid concerns. The salon is large and airy and clean. Kenna wore a mask for me. He checked out my hair and how it falls, looked at my pictures and started in. He was very careful, very skilled, and fun to talk to. They got me in within a week of calling, made me feel comfortable and really listened to my thoughts/concerns. She gave me a perfect cut that is easy to style at home and feels fresh. This salon is on the second floor of the building (just an FYI). It was clean and pretty and smelled great. Amy was so nice and attentive. She took such great care of my overgrown hair. I have thick, medium curly hair and is often a challenge finding someone who can cut my hair well and respect the curls :) She didn't try to sell me anything which was such a relief. Julie is a fantastic stylist. Right away she knew what I was looking for in a haircut -- I wanted to keep the length while removing weight for my frizzy/wavy hair. She explained what her plan was and then started cutting my hair dry. She then finished it up after it was washed and walked me through step by step short cuts for how to blow dry my hair. The cut is amazing -- better than I could have imagined. And in addition to being a great stylist, Julie was easy and fun to talk to. I have a lot of hair and it's wavy/curly. It had gotten so heavy and unwieldy I had cut off six inches last year. My scalp has also been irritated. I just had my first visit with Julie. She asked me a bunch of questions to start and then gave me a dry cut before washing and drying with a diffuser. She didn't know and I didn't tell her but I had had a big fight with my husband before my appointment and my toddler had been saying no to everything all week - she was so calm and chill and took such good care of me it was better than therapy. Afterwards she recommended a different shampoo that seems to be solving my scalp problem. The best thing was washing my hair a week later and letting it air dry and getting the best curls I've had in years. This is making me want long hair again. I hesitated to try Kennaland because of their pricing (far and away the most I've ever spent on a haircut) but it's been worth every penny. read more

She did such an amazing job and was so easy to work with that I couldn't imagine continuing going anywhere else for my haircut. She is great at understanding what you want in a haircut and style (even when you don't really know yourself)! I highly recommend! Additionally, the process of making an appointment, etc. is very simple and accommodating. I had once purchased a giftcard and forgot to mention it when I paid for the haircut. I came into Kennaland as I was searching for a new hairstylist. I had an appointment with Amy and right away knew she was going to do great things with my hair.
