They were really busy but were able to talk to me and give me all of the answers to the questions I had. Since moving to STL we no longer had extended family nearby to watch our shmoo when we go away. Between work, elderly parents, kids away @ college & a now senior dog that doesn't do well in airport type situations = find someone you trust to care for your precious like you would. We tried one other that seemed ok but you know when sometimes something just feels off? So I asked & our vet recommended Silver Maple instead...best thing ever. My first glimpse of how genuinely they care for our dogs was how nicely he goes in (tail is still down but he readily goes in after being greeted like Norm from Cheers). One time he got sick just before our Xmas vacation. He had only been on his meds for 2days before I had to drop him off but they have their system down to a science. It's simple but it's one they are clear on so there are no mistakes. Pam even called me to tell me she found throw up in his crate but wondered if giving him his meds with food would be less caustic & help him feel better...thoughtful & considerate problem solver & diplomatically explained! During that same boarding we were snowed in on the mountains in CO & couldn't get back on time. Not only did Pam accommodate but she also made sure he had enough of his meds. She genuinely loves animals & will go to bat for them. Communication & planning is key. If you'll be traveling over the holidays, book early. Always pack extra food & Rx in case it gets dropped or don't pack enough food. They took a Chewy delivery of food bc I stupidly didn't count out the correct numbers of cans. Cost-wise, we have found it to be very much worthwhile bc we absolutely know he's in good hands. I recently had the pleasure of working with Lauren and Pam. I cannot express how amazing they are. So caring and thoughtful about the well being of the dogs they are entrusted with. When I pulled up to the farm you didn't hear any barking. When I walked in to the office there wasn't an aroma of urine or bleach. They took me back to the kennels and there were blankets and beds in them and the dogs were calm and again no smell. I was homing a senior dog that was an owner surrender and Pam jumped right in and found a wonderful home for him. Don't hesitate to board your furry family members here. they took great care of my lab puppy when I went away for the weekend! I had never left him before and the staff did a great job of putting me at ease. I called to check in on him and they gave me a great detailed report of how he was doing. He was in one of the rooms with a concrete run, but he didn't like going potty on the concrete, so they made sure to walk him frequently. I asked if they thought he would like to do daycare, and they said based on how he played while he was there daycare might be too overwhelming for him. I really appreciated that they were looking out for his best interest, not just trying to get more business. I will definitely be bringing him back whenever I go out of town! read more

Recently we dropped off Charlie and Jack while we were out of town for 5 days. Again I experienced the same professionalism and care as I did the first time. Jack is a snobby dog and does things on his own terms. When they saw that he was not eating, they experimented with treats, tricks and one by one feeding to make sure he was actually eating. This made me very happy because they did not just dump food in a bowl and assumed he ate. They actually took the time and monitored him. They had plenty of outdoor run time and were taken very good care of. Both dogs came back with shiny coats and looking refreshed as ever. Our total for both dogs including feeding was $275. I feel like I always get the most out of my money coming here because the dogs are taken very good care of and always come back happy and healthy. read more

Silver Maple Farms is a place that my dog really enjoys going to. When we take him there we like to refer to it as summer camp for him because he is always excited to go. We like to think that he looks at it as though it were a vacation away from the easy life where he gets to enjoy an even easier easy life. Silver Maple Farms also has grooming, which we take advantage of quite a bit because there is nothing like the smell of a dirty dog that wants to cozy up to you as opposed to a clean smelling dog who wants to cozy up, not that I would send him away either way, but it is easier to stand when he is clean. Silver Maple Farms is a nice place. They always remember our dog's name and always very sweet and handle him very gently even when he is a ball of energy. Silver Maple Farm is to dogs what Plaza Automotive is to the people who ride around in BMW, Lexus and Range Rover's. It's pricey and indeed they do an excellent job and the hours are somewhat convenient for the working pet parent. Only thing I didn't like is they cut my dogs hair way too short and he never really seemed to stay smelling fresh for too long after his visit. I stopped going mainly b/c of the price, but I'd go back if the need ever occurred. Now I take Bailey to Kennelwood in Chesterfield and so far so good! read more

Just picked up my pup from the regular brush out, bath and de-shed treatment. When I went to pick him up the already high price I pay on the regular had increased to $82. I usually pay in the low $70s at SM for the extended amount of services I ask for since my husky is a high shed breed. It's not a big jump but when I asked she tried to tell me it didn't change and I'm paying the same I always have. I let it go and paid. Got my dog. When we went outside he looked nice. He had his bandana like always, looked clean. But when I pet him globs of fur came out. This was a dissapointment. The entire reason I come to this business and pay the high prices is because they've always done a good job at fully brushing him out so he isn't shedding tons of fur.. At least for the day. I understand a husky sheds plenty but they've done just fine in the past making it so his coat stays on him for at least a couple days. Paying a higher rate and then coming home and having to brush him out myself is quite disappointing. I didn't pay $82 to bring him directly home and have to brush him some more. & as a side note he's usually smells fantastic and this time he just smells like a wet dog. Even after he dried. A month ago I would tell you to definitely make the trip and shed the extra cash because they are worth it, now I don't know what's going on (new employees? New management? Saving money? What!) but.. I'm disappointed and will be looking for a new groomer. Quality and consistency is a big deal when I spend probably $900 a year at your facility. Update: three days after I pick him up we feel the need to brush him out due to excessive shedding. This is from 20 minutes brushing out ONLY his back and upper sides with the pictured brush. We have a very energetic German shepherd who LOVES coming to silver maple weekly for doggie day camp. We had tried another training/day camp company (no leashes needed) and were extremely disappointed with the customer service and results. This place does not have that over populated "factory" like feel at all! If your looking for a great place to board your pet, have them groomed, or let them run out some energy for the day - you've found it! The staff is wonderful, and my dog is SO excited to go and visit for the day. About once a month we have them do a bath and grind his nails down, always pleased with that as well. This was our first boarding experience with Silver Maple and we will be back. Not only did our vet have great things to say about them, we were very pleased. The staff was very friendly, thorough and professional. Upon request, they gave me a full tour prior to drop off and all seemed very clean and organized, with the option to tailor to your specific pet's needs, likes, dislikes, habits, etc. You can tell all the employees really get to know and care for each animal. We loved the individual indoor/outdoor home and run, plus playtime where they individually match up dogs that will play together well. We could even view pics of our dog playing with others and having fun while we were away (on their FB page) Our pet came home happy and healthy. We take our dog to Silver Maple Farm for boarding. We've been using them for about four years, usually 3-4 times per year. And we are *incredibly* pleased with the service we receive from them. Their pricing is very fair - in fact, it seems significantly cheaper than many other places, for a superior level of care. They always remember our dog's name, and seem genuinely happy to see her when we drop her off. They always give us a full report of her activities and behavior when we pick her up - how well she ate, how she did at playtime, etc. They even give her little extras - one-on-one time with the staff during the evenings, treats, etc. I'm so glad to have found this place and really don't think there's a better kennel to be found in St. Louis. I have taken my super shedder dogs to a few other places in town. I'm not going to slam Canine or 3 Muddy but my experiences were not good. Pam was super helpful and got my mutts right in for a shampoo and mail trim. When I picked up my pups they were calm and looked great. We have taken our dogs to Silver Maple Farms for over 11 years. Once I had a discount at a kennel closer to home (5 minute drive) for one night stay and wanted to use them for convenience. I sure learned quickly that I would rather drive over 20 minutes farther to go to Silver Maple !!! The staff are the best! They are very attentive and understanding and will go out of their way to accommodate the owner and dogs needs. Once when our dog had a medical need and we were several states away, they transported her to our vet to be attended to and were in constant contact with us to inform us of the outcome. It is difficult to find a good cat groomer. The shave-down was okay, however I thought it was odd that they expected payment before I had seen my cat. The groomer brought him out and left him on the counter in his crate- without showing me the groom or talking with me. I like to get a "report card" of Tacocat's visit before I fork over $80. read more
