The best in town my Kane love to come there for grooming. The Staff is the best a the shop is always clean.

My 7 lb shorkie dog had an appointment at 10 AM. by 345 I had not heard anything. So I reached out and was informed that they hadn't gotten to her yet *disclaimer* my pup was very matted so I knew it would be a while/an extra charge to groom her. THAT'S fine!! As long as she is properly groomed. They call me back in an hour, tell me they could not remove all of the matting, she'd have to be taken to a vet & be sedated for it all to be removed. She'll be ready by 5. Ummmmm ok. I was annoyed because the owner bragged about all these credentials she had and how she's been in business for so long but couldn't handle matting. But whatever. They also tell me they would only charge me for what hair they could get off of her. my sister arrived to pick up my dog, and was informed that they indeed were able to remove all of her hair but did not bathe her at all. The owner then informed my sister that they had been working on her all day. Which is a lie, because when I called at 3:45 the owner told me they hadn't gotten to her yet! My sister said the owner then tried to clean it up and say "well we've been going back-and-forth with her all day." so which is it, were are you going back-and-forth with her all day or did you not get to her until 345???? Furthermore, if you have been working on her all day, by the end of the day she should be all finished and ready for a bath, right? I paid $70 for her to only get cut and they barely cut her nails. I feel like after they cut her, why couldn't she get a bath? She's 6 lbs and hairless now, her bath and blow dry should have not taken that long. I have a golden retriever and a Great Pyrenees so needless to say I have a lot of fur to deal with at home! I have been searching for a new groomer for a long time and have always been disappointed. They were never deshedded right or cut right... UNTILL NOW! Delmar doggie design has a customer for life! My dogs have never felt as good as they feel after getting groomed at DDD! They are barely shedding at all! Not one hair is out of place. I personally am a hairstylist so I am very particular on how I like their hair to be cut and i cannot express how happy I am! They look good and I know they feel good with all that extra undercoat gone! I will recommend this place to any and all of my clients and friends with dogs! I read the reviews on Yelp for this groomer before deciding on it. I couldn't agree with the rave reviews more. Christina was super friendly and you can tell she really cares about the animals brought in there. My pups looked a little homeless before I brought them in and now, 4 days later they are still fluffy and smell great. I really appreciated that she offers ALL new clients, not just 1 per human, the Complimentary Spa Package offered on her website. I can't speak for the dogs but they smelled wonderful and they looked so cute when I picked them up. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know who has pets. DELMAR DOGGIE DESIGN NEARLY KILLED MY DOG. My dog's quality of life substantially declined after his first visit to this groomer. For 10 years while we lived in Texas my dog never had any issues at his groomer. After moving to St. Louis and choosing this place, Christina (the owner), decided to feed my 10-year-old poodle without my permission because she thought he looked underweight. Christina then attempted to conceal the fact that my dog had been vomiting shortly after he was given food she described as being soaked in hot water. Minutes after my dog returned home from his grooming appointment he began to throw up all over the house. When I asked Christina why she felt it was okay to feed my poodle without my permission or knowledge of his medical history, she could only discuss the number of years she'd been a groomer. An experienced groomer would never feed your dog. Christina lacks empathy and is negligent, she assumed the role of a veterinarian and my dog's life has changed forever. I'm sharing my experience, so this doesn't happen to your cherished pet. I read the reviews on Yelp and decided to use Delmar Doggie Design--that was a huge mistake. There are many respectable pet groomers in St. Louis, this isn't one of them. read more

The BEST GROOMER I have ever been to! I have a mini Spitz (or Giant Pomeranian) named Chanel and she had the perfect shampoo and trim here! The groomer was a doll too! Got lots of great information on other dog-related topics too! It was so great that I signed her up for the VIP service where she will get groomed every 4 weeks! I'm new to this area and am testing out groomers for my two big pups. Both dogs came out looking good, a bit on the clipped-too-short side, but a couple weeks later they now look really cute. The staff was professional and, except for their bad phone connection, everything was fine. The price was on the high side ($100 and $125)--one dog was scissored and not sheared with clippers, I can't explain why because she looks just like a cut she had from PetSmart (not the one in Brentwood)! We highly recommend the groomers here! We don't take Tucker anywhere else to get his nails clipped. What we love most about Delmar Doggie Design is Christina's passion for pets. When we first dropped off Tucker to get his nails trimmed, Christina called us later that day and told us he refused and would get anxiety and squirm when she tried to touch his paws. Instead of fighting with him to clip his nails (like a lot of big business groomers would do), she recommended that we ease into it and make it a pleasant experience for him, so someday he wouldn't have any problems with someone trimming his nails! She explained that some groomers might just hold him down, clip his nails, and traumatize him. This would cause him to get anxiety and fight every time someone tried to clip his nails! So we started coming once a week and also working on easing into it at home too. She also recommended we start bringing all-natural peanut butter for him to have while she handles his paws/clips his nails/etc. It's been a few months, but now he has no problem with her trimming his nails! She has been so patient with him throughout this process, and we really appreciate it! Love taking #theterrierist here. Christina the owner is the only person in the area that hand-strips wire haired dogs. I'm so thankful for her willingness to keep a dying art alive. Sarge loves her. Wags his tail when we pull up. Her staff is friendly and helpful. They always call to remind me the day before his appointments. She's been very helpful in teaching me about the hand stripping process to take care of his fur. Whether you show or have a pet she's AMAZING. read more

This groomer took the time to answer not one but multiple emails. No canned responses but actual detailed answers to my questions. I emailed multiple groomers in the area and this was the only one that responded. The building is nice, right off the loop so you have something to do while you wait. Great advice on my puppy and she did a fantastic job. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

Delmar Doggie Design is a wonderful place to take your pets for grooming. My older dog used to be scared to get groomed prior to going there and since taking her to DDD she runs to the door with excitement every time. My puppy has just started being groomed and they have done an awesome job getting her used to being handled. I came in recently to have my dog groomed and was very disappointed. The woman at the front was very nice but failed to ask if this was my first time getting my dog groomed, which became an issue. I was told my doggie would be ready by one but was not ready until close. They also failed to brush my doggie's teeth since there was not enough time. I was told that my dog should have been brought in on a less busy day since it was my dog's first time. Which I gladly would have done had she asked me on the phone if it was my dog's first time. They did groom my dog but claimed that they were unable to trim because there were so many matted areas. That the trim would "not be the best display of my grooming skills". They asked if they could shave my dog and I was hesitant but figured they knew best. When I got my dog, the shave was a bit of a shock and they had given my dog a "lion's tail" which I found cute but would have liked to have been asked about it. The place could much improve and I have taken my dog's business elsewhere since. read more

In June 2012, I had moved from IL to St. Louis and needed to find a new groomer for my little yorkie, Dyson! I had been used to getting him groomed every two weeks so he was used to grooming, but still being a puppy, I was nervous how he would transition. I stopped in randomly to check out the place to scope it out. The random stop in made me feel so good as they were so accommodating to show me around and see how clean the facility was! They do not hide anything! :-) I am one of those over protective dog moms and Miss Christina made me feel so comfortable I made an appointment for later that week. We chose a day that the place wouldn't be as busy to help make his transition better. My little guy has never looked so good, smelled so good, or had such a positive experience with a groomer. She took the time to make sure he looked great and did everything I asked for. She was so knowledgeable and took the time to point out that one of the reason's he may be tearing up was from a tooth problem (which she noticed he had not lost one of his puppy teeth yet, but his adult tooth had come in!). At Christmas she gave a complimentary blueberry facial and ever since my Dyson begs "mommy" for them as they make him a hit at doggie daycare! You gotta check this place out! I have two female dogs. They are both sweet & funny but, one of them is extremely shy and the other had a bad experience at another groomer. I am also kind of a high maintenance customer. The ladies at Delmar Doggie Design were sweet, funny, understanding and so kind. They all knew that I was hesitant about leaving my big girl (a Newfie/Golden Mix) with anyone after a bad grooming experience at a local big box pet store. They took pictures and posted them to Facebook so I could keep track of them and ease my own anxieties. It helped me immensely. When my girls were finished, they called me immediately (per my request!) to let me know I could come and get them. Upon my return to pick them up, my girls were calm and in good spirits. They exhibited *ZERO* anxiety. In fact, my Newfie mix (the more outgoing of the two, was having fun and playing with one of the groomers. My shy girl was calm and showed no signs of being fearful in the very least. I trust very few people with my dogs but, this group of ladies is WONDERFUL! They take a great deal of pride in their work and in their work environment. The place is clean, well maintained and very well organized. They don't just bring your dogs to the store front when you come to pick them up, they take you back into their work area and go over what they did and tell you about any things they find might be of concern to you as an owner. This is a really great little shop. They truly care about the animals they groom and are extraordinarily considerate of pet owners and their feelings/anxieties. Additionally, they are very diligent about getting vaccination records from you UPON ARRIVAL. I've been to groomers that don't even ask. That's irresponsible and horrifying. Delmar Doggie Design should definitely be on the top of your list when looking for a groomer in the greater St. Louis area, you'd be hard pressed to find another pet salon that cares as much as they do AND does a good job in a clean and open environment! I brought my two pups to Christina and her team for the first time yesterday and could not be happier with the results. First of all, they were given a fabulous wash and trim. Their coats are soft and shiny and they smell wonderful. They are both older dogs and somehow she has made their paw pads look young and soft again. One of my dogs has skin allergies but his skin was so much improved after his grooming. Christina also informed me of a health issue that I was not aware of, which is very appreciated. To top it off, they both received a holiday toy which made them very happy. I also like that they are walked by the staff and given water and I did not have to leave them there all day. I did pay a little more for this service than at my previous groomer, but it was well worth it. I will definitely return. read more

The best grooming my dog has ever had. We visit from PA periodically and we've had our dog groomed there twice. Christina and her staff are amazing. Not only does the dog look great, but he seems happy when we've picked him up. Normally, he's stressed out by grooming. Can't say enough good things about this shop. I had a great experience bringing my two dogs here. They give you options for different styles for your pets, and have excellent customer service. They have a variety of options and prices, adding no pressure to get the most expensive. The owner, Christina is very knowledgeable and friendly. She even introduced me to the other stylist, Cassandra, that was working that day. She was also very friendly and talented. My dogs seemed comfortable there, too. I have a rare dog breed -a Pumi- and had bad luck with groomers who showed little understanding in how he should be groomed nor were they interested in researching how to groom a Pumi. I hate to leave bad reviews for small business especially during COVID19. But I had a disappointing experience. I made an appointment for my dog at 7am on a weekday. I had to call myself to check when his appointment was because I didn't receive a reminder call or any form of communication to remind me when the appointment was set. Fortunately I called because his appointment was THE NEXT DAY. the following day I received a call because it was 730am and the lady was so nice over the phone when I explained I was running late. I told her I lived 2mins away so I would bring my dog ASAP. She agreed and told me she would run a little later with him since I was bringing him later. I told her that was fine. I get to the salon after waking up in a panic and she tells me she can't take him. The only thing that I can think that changed in the 7mins of the phone call was that she saw my skin color and decided that she didn't want to take him anymore. I regret not making a backup appointment with another groomer now. So much for customer service. PetSmart would NEVER! read more

My pup is a mixed breed with a lot of long hair and she was carefully trimmed to perfection. I was shown all the methods and given great grooming advice. I recently adopted a dog named Mandi and she was in need of some major grooming. I have a job in the CWE so i decided to try out Delmar Doggie Design. The owner Christina is a true animal lover at heart and she took such good care of my girl. i have never been so pleased with dog grooming in my life. Mandi was shedding alot and they really took care of that with the de-shedd system, I could tell Mandi was truly loved and taken care of while there. She even had a few stitches in her belly that hadnt dissolved from being spayed which Christina lovingly removed. I cant say enough about DDD will be back every 4 weeks!! read more
