I hate to write this review. I've visited Kenney twice - once a couple of years ago to pickup fresh shrimp for a boil on the fresh seafood side (no problems), and then again this past Sunday to have lunch with my family on the restaurant side. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful, and our food came out fairly quickly. We ordered simple items - a couple of fried seafood platters and three poboys. Unfortunately, 5 of the 7 of us ended up with food poisoning. The people that ate the seafood trays (which are expensive!) were sick. We think it was the fried soft shell crab (as that is the only thing the two people that weren't sick didn't eat). The food was unremarkable. The crab and corn bisque is overly seasoned with seafood seasoning and was lukewarm. The parking lot is a nightmare - it was a good 10 minutes just trying to back out of my spot to leave. We obviously won't be back. read more

Ive been here a few times and it's so so good. The fish is so fresh and the sides are all good. My local Slidell friend calls it "home away from home". I don't know if I will go that far but it is delicious. Service is pretty fast and the ambiance is exactly like a seafood place that sells both fresh and prepared food. read more

This hits the spot for great ,fresh , sea food. Not fancy just WONDERFUL food. A tray can feed 2 hungry people ,or 3 people if you are average eaters, with the sides. We ate here 2 time in 5 days . It is that good! Keep an eye on the time they close early. But we will stop in next time we are close. The Biggest fried Oysters we have ever had and the best! We were at Kenney's Saturday 07/29, I had a fried fish sandwich that wasn't seasoned at all, wasn't even warm and tasted as if it was fried in old grease. I've eaten there a number of times and the food was great, but Saturday I was disappointed. read more

Very good seafood. To the left is the seafood market with kinds of fresh seafood. To the right is the dining area. You order at the counter and they bring your tray to you. I ordered the seafood platter which comes with two sides. I picked potato salad and gumbo, yes gumbo is a side, first time I have seen that without there being an upcharge. I opted to not have the fried soft shell crab and they gave me extra shrimp to take the place. I liked everything but the fish was my favorite. Loved the oyster too. The shrimp was just cooked a little to long. Potato salad was good but needed salt and the gumbo was very good but came to the table as warm vs a hot temperature The portion are huge!! read more

This had to be one of my best seafood experiences I've had in the Slidell area. When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly young man named Josh who proceeded to take my order. I had a few questions about the soups they had in which he recommended the Corn and Crab bisque which happened to be made fresh that morning. After ordering the bisque in addition to a 6 inch shrimp po-boy I sat down for only a couple minutes before it was brought out. Once again Josh was very nice and stated that if I needed anything else simply let him know. The bisque was phenomenal, unlike most places that hold back on the crab meat theirs was a good amount. The shrimp po-boy was very flavorful and the shrimp are perfectly battered unlike other places that serve you a shrimp po-boy that is 70% batter. I've been around the block to seafood places like Pecks and Pearls and I can honestly say they have nothing on Kenney's. The young mans service in combination with the cooks in the back is simply unmatched. I give them 5/5 stars and one hundred percent recommend Kenney's to anyone that ask. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love this place. We drove over an hour to eat here because we wanted crawfish. We were served cold crawfish and essentially got a shoulder shrug when we told them. They offered to microwave it which seems strange for cold crawfish. Everything else was divine as always. Make sure you ask if the crawfish are hot before you drop $4-5 a lbs. read more

I've been reading nothing but good reviews from Kenney Seafood so I ordered the half & half seafood platter. It comes with two sides, I've chosen the fries and the gumbo. The food was delicious I had a teaspoon of the gumbo because my daughter ate the rest and we both agreed it was good. Kenney is known city-wide for its seafood. So presumably they'd be an excellent dining location. The fish on the Fish Platter was seasoned nicely. How, the potato salad which seemed as a reasonably good side was so aggressively seasoned it was rendered inedible. I thought it weird for ruin an awesome side with such an assault. Was looking for shrimp and crab to boil. Called them to see if they had fresh shrimp!!! Told yes, well they were not fresh there was a slight pink tint and i never had shrimp that was as hard to peel as these. First of all do NOT lie to a paying customer, we traveled over an hour and was so disappointed in the quality. Total waste of time and money. Do better!!! Wow, next to Kenner Seafood's boiled crawfish, these guys are the best in the New Orleans area. They were a good size and had a nice lagniappe of celery, garlic and onions mixed in with the crawfish. You can tell they continue to boil crawfish and don't just take cold ones and dip them like a lot of places do. They also have other food like po'boys and baskets with fried shrimp, oysters, crawfish, soft shell crabs, etc. The hush puppies were fresh and the boiled crabs looked just as good as the crawfish. The seafood market part of Kenney Seafood looked great too. Good selection of fresh local seafood as well as some cool local favorites in the freezer section such as gumbo crabs, alligator sausage, alligator filets, etc... If you are in Slidell and want good.seafood, definitely try Kenney's. read more

During my last visit home, we stayed in Slidell. Good thing we did. My brother blessed us with 12 lbs of crawfish for my sister's birthday. When I tell you that crawfish was some of the best I've ever had. So much flavor!!! He also got about 2 pounds of shrimp to compliment the crawfish. I think this was my niece's first time having crawfish. Even though it was spicy, that little 2 year old ate it with no problems. They crawfish were juicy and a nice size. We all sat around eating until we finished all of it. Unlike the people from outside of New Orleans or Louisiana, we didn't need to eat with bibs and gloves. Kenney Seafood ("KS") is extremely disappointing. When we first ate at KS, the shrimp po-boys were fantastic; of course, this was over a year ago. During this time, the poboys were covered with ample amounts of fresh fried shrimp. However, the last time we went to KS, the po-boys had a negligible amount of shrimp, and overall, the po-boy looked mangled. I would not recommend KS until they clean up their act! read more

When you buy fresh shrimp, their scale starts at 1/8 lb and they don't account for it. If you buy 1 lb, you actually only get 7/8 lb but get charged for the full pound. They will take 1 shrimp off at a time to make sure the scale shows exactly 1 pound and no consideration given that the scale started at 1/8 lb already. If they get 1/8lb from everyone that buys shrimp in one day, that's pretty significant! AND, they charge a processing fee to use a card! They get you from multiple angles! read more

WOW! WOW! WOW! Thanks to our wonderful tour guide J.D. at Cajun Encounters we were able to enjoy this totally amazing place! Nothing fancy to see here, but the food was Awesome! Okay, to be fair I'm from the Bay Area in California so eating what we had here might be typical for the locals but back home, if I can find stuff this good in these portions, and that's a BIG "IF"! it would cost at least an arm and a leg...we were told Crawfish season had ended but Soft Shell Crabs were now in season I'm drooling just remembering lol.. so we ordered Hamburgers...hahaha got ya! Small spot known for crawfish and boiled seafood. We came as a last stop before heading to the airport after enjoying a swamp tour at the recommendation of our guide. no comments really on service since it's a quick service spot, so I'll get into food: -crawfish - fresh and nice and spicy. we ordered 2 pounds and it was just enough for 6 of us to share with our entrees -fried shrimp platter - the shrimp were good, but the batter was a bit overwhelming. its all i tasted. the sweet potato fries were the star here, and the corn/crab bisque was way too watery -fried catfish platter - same as the shrimp, too much batter but the fries were good -spicy sausage po boy - interesting that its sliced sausage and not the whole link, but the flavors were good. The reason I knocked a full star off instead of a 4 (since i think this is a solid 2.5) is simple. the place is FILTHY. every table was sticky, there was food all over the floor. little pieces of crawfish or shrimp legs everywhere, and it smelled like old seafood. If we werent running late already I would have left to find somewhere else, but it served its purpose. I wouldn't go back. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We stopped in for lunch on our way home from New Orleans. Our plan was to grab some lunch and head home. Well, after having his fried crawfish my husband decided that he wanted to take some live crawfish home. (20lbs). We were not prepared to for that. When we asked what was the best way to get them home Cappy took charged and fixed us a box and packed them. He went way above and beyond to help us. I would have to say that my favorite gumbo came out of this restaurant, and I have tried gumbo all over Louisiana. The menu is quite large and pretty much everything tasted great. They also have shrimp po boy sandwiches for those of you looking to grab a quick lunch item. Large restaurant with a decent amount of seating and parking.
