We ordered takeout here because we wanted seafood and this place was close to our hotel. Our order was done fast and when we picked it up, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I asked for sauces and they showed me their selection. My daughter and I ordered the "House Special Seafood Platter" to share and there was plenty of food for both of us! It comes with one fried fish filet, four fried shrimp, four fried oysters and one fried soft-shell crab. We got double regular fries for our side and it comes with two pieces of toast too! I always pass here and just thinking it's only boiled seafood because this place get pack during lent season. Well a post came on my FB newsfeed about thai food there and I was intrigued! So I stopped by and I asked the lady at the counter, I think she's the owner too, if I can order padthai. She asked how spicy and of course I said thai SPICIEST. When she brought me the padthai, she apologized that it might be too spicy. TOO SPICY!? I chuckled and said I hope it IS too spicy! Haha Definitely a Big portion! Slidell is my friend's home. We're again visiting Slidell from Georgia and always stop to get poboys from Keith's in Chalmette or Slidell. We did the same today but the 2 oyster poboys we purchased were not what we've become accustomed to. They were not "overstuffed" as advertised. There were very few oysters that didn't cover the bread. They had a lotta bread in each sandwich. We were hungry and ate the poboys. About 30 minutes later we went back to tell the manager about the poboys. We were not looking for freebies but did expect an apology and customer service. We did not get that. Instead, the manager was confrontational and rude saying, "You should've brought it back." Keith's will not be getting anymore of our business. However, the condition of the restaurant was appalling and I couldn't stomach it, so I left without ordering. - The restaurant is filthy and needs to be closed for a DEEP scrub down, and a health department inspection. - The woman working behind the counter serving customers was eating food from the hot bar with her fingers from a to-go container - The hot bar food looked disgusting. The food was either dried out from sitting exposed, or the liquid had a nasty film over the top of it. None of it was covered And I seriously doubt it was being stored at proper food safety temperatures. - I observed a food serving utensil being dropped on the floor behind the counter, let sit on floor for about 15 seconds, then put back on the counter instead of placed with dirty dishes to be washed. Y'all the crawfish was amazing !!! Just finished eating them they were hot , spicy ( but edible ). Crawfish was 6.49 a lb but if you buy 10lbs or more it'll be 5.99 . It's a small seafood store but the boiled crawfish is amazing. I love their crawfish pies also :) read more

I tried this because I love turkey necks & wanted to try here based on reviews. I'm not sure if it was just later in the day (4pm) but it was ok at best. Some of the food looked like it was in the warmer literally all day...presentation was a total turn-off. Added a potato with my neck and yeah, it was super old. I'm not enthused about returning. I have had both good and bad experiences at Keith's, but my 4 most recent are why I decided to write a review. The past 4 times I have visited, I ordered boiled crawfish. In the past, they've been seasoned well and taste fresh. The past 4 times, they have been spoiled to the point of stinking twice, boiled twice or over (could tell due to rubber feel). This final time, they were boiled fresh but not cleaned, and they tasted like muddy water. Absolutely not a good taste whatsoever. Very unpleasant. I had to throw away at least 7 lbs between my last 4 visits. I gave it 4 tries more. It's a no for me. read more

Best meal out of roughly dozen restaurants I have visited in the New Orleans area over the past couple years. Combination seafood market and restaurant, the quality of the seafood really shows. Seems like a friendly family operation. Seafood gumbo is the best gumbo I have had in the LA hands down. Medium (16oz) is a large bowl anywhere else and is a meal on itself. Not being content to try just one thing I got the soft shell crab on a bun. It is one large crab on a bun, freshly fried and super tasty. Food poison!!!! Please be aware to never come to this place. My wife and I had 7pounds of crawfish and a pound of snow crabs. I've had to call into work because of the stomach aches and diarrhea. These pains are the worst. And, no it's not from any other restaurant because we haven't eaten out since Fat Tuesday. I did not eat the snow crabs because they smelled spoiled and looked like they were sitting all day in the warmer. I tried to call back but received the answering machine at every attempt. Holy moly! We've been making trips to Slidell for a couple of years and we just recently discovered this old gas station that's been converted into a seafood dive. There are a few tables on the inside and a couple of picnic tables outside. The prepared seafood is displayed in cases next to where you order at the counter. They had delicious looking royal reds for $10 a pound, which the hubs surprisingly decided to forego, opting for boiled crawfish instead. I started off with a cup of gumbo. It was good and loaded with meat. We each ordered a shrimp po'boy and we could've easily shared one. They were humongous, 12 inches long and piled high with perfectly fried shrimp. Was skeptical because I typically go to the same place for blue crab when I visit Louisiana, but since I did not want to drive to New Orleans East we tried Keith's. The food was great, the blue crab was seasoned perfectly, my daughter had a pound of crawfish which were seasoned well. This is a new favorite when I stay in Slidell.
