We spent the start of my birthday weekend at Hemlock Spa at Kenoza Hall and it was honestly the perfect vibe. We did a yoga class, had massages, and then stayed for brunch. Everything flowed so nicely and felt super relaxing from start to finish. The staff were all warm, professional, and really made us feel taken care of. For brunch, we had mimosas and a pineapple punch (so good), plus a fruit plate, grilled caesar salad, and three Kenoza burgers -- all cooked exactly how we wanted. No complaints at all, everything was fresh and delicious. The space itself is clean, calm, and really inviting. Such a great way to kick off a birthday weekend with my girls. The location is cool, great view from the restaurant, interior is well designed but exterior needs a little maintenance, at least cleaning. With such a beautiful building, its a shame to see so many water stains and poor roo conditionf. Staff was ok, a little standoffish at the bar. Wait staff was incredibly professional, polished, and on point. Now for the food. Starting with cocktails, I dont know what theire tryibg to invent, but its severely lacking. I tried their pickle juice martini as im a fan of dirty martinis, but they used sweet pickles and it was just awful. The food, way over priced. Pretending to be elevated. Salad was quite basic, the passionfruit dressing was great over the cheese, but overpowering over the simple yellow lettuce and 3 cherry tomatoes. Popovers for bread....pretty but bland. Same for the tuna tartar. had the salmon which was good, cant ho wrong with it, but the sides were insufficient and bland. Cant remember what else we had but I can confidently say it waa over priced, and under delivered. Overall I think they need a reality check if they're trying to charge such prices for the food they serve. Id much rather pay for simpler, humble menu but with better quality and taste. read more

I enjoy stopping in for a fussy cocktail midday and sit on the gorgeous front porch with a snack. Dinner and brunch is great too, though I prefer their brunch. I recommend the yoga classes or booking a spa treatment here also. There's a lovely dry barrel sauna out back in the pool area that guests of the spa have access to. The entire property is serene and well-designed, though easy to miss from the road so keep your eyes pealed for the small "Kenoza Hall" sign in the landscape. I've been coming for years and I still drive past it sometimes. read more

We came for brunch on Sunday of Columbus Day weekend. The views are gorgeous, the ambience and decor is beautiful. It definitely has the spa/ hotel vibe as it is very quiet and calming. The food and drinks were delicious. The fries that came with the burger were outstanding as was the Bloody Mary. Just be prepared to wait. It wasn't super busy and we were there for about 40 min without having gotten drinks and food. It is very relaxing and we didn't mind the wait just don't go there if you are in a rush or looking for a quick bite. read more

We had dinner here while staying at the hotel down the road. First off, the property is gorgeous. We arrived early for happy hour drinks at the bar, which is daily from 5pm to 6pm. All of our expectations were exceeded. Cocktails were delicious. There was live music, which was a plus. Our server was so polite and knowledgeable. The menu did have a decent amount of variety. We were served complimentary popovers We started with the steak tartar which was extremely fresh. We went with the pork and the gnocchi. Both portions were generous. My wife and I wanted another getaway in the Catskills. Unfortunately some of the places we usually book were booked up. My wife found this Kenoza Hall listed as a new hotel that just opened this summer. We both liked what we saw on their site, so decided to book several days. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is unique because it sits on its own, essentially private lake (Lake Kenoza). They offer canoes to take out for a quite row around the lake. We went out several times and enjoyed every minute. You can also swim in the lakes fresh water. The inside of the hotel is beautifully decorated and well thought out given it's space. Every nook and cranny of the hotel has something that catches your eye and makes you looks. Details were big. The grounds are well cared for and the gardener is doing an exceptional job at maintaining the new plants that'll soon grow into their new home. The grounds have several fire pits and an outdoor pool. The hotel has an indoor bar and a full restaurant. Staff are so accommodating and genuinely kind and attentive. We mainly ate at the hotel and were torn between our reviews of the cuisine. Breakfast is sort of a joke and seems like an afterthought. For instance we walk up hungry and went down for breakfast. The only thing of sustenance was a tiny little egg omelette with nothing inside and a side of "micro greens". Our server said they were out of any meat such as bacon or sausage. No way a tiny little two inch omelette would fill me up. In fact I was more hungry after eating it than I was before I ate it. The sever asked if I wanted another serving of "microgreens". I don't know what microgreens are...perhaps if I were an 70 pound little white girl I would've been satiated. For lunch we ordered the "lunch basket" That comes with smoked trout and some other sides. I found the trout sandwich to be far too salty for my liking and if I known it was $100 bucks I would've never ordered it...money wasted. We had several dinners here and they were excellent. The steak is some of the best. High prices though for the area. But I would say it was good and cooked wonderfully. The music they play is a bit obnoxious. Classical or jazz...seems like they are trying to hard and it was a bit loud. The bar is small and it's not really open for cocktails until later in the day (I believe around 3). I had several old fashioned that were made very good (rye). They have several IPAs too that are quite nice and local. The pool is nice and clean. They have a hot tub as well. We would've liked an area to get fresh towels though. They only put out one towel per chair. Everyone knows you need at least three. Takes two to cover your chair and one to dry off after a swim. We also sort wished for a bar that was open all day as well as one that serviced the pool area. Our room was very clean and well stocked. Nicely furnished and styled. Enjoyed the shower and the big closets. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors easily. All in all we had an amazing time. Felt relaxed and recuperated. This place is a great stay for a little getaway. The resort itself has a very nice vibey feel to it. Being tucked away in the mountains is nice. But Kenoza Hall offers a feeling of being at home. It is definitely more on the upscale and pricey side of things, but it feels worth it for what you pay. It has great views, a spa, a big hot tub, and the lake itself is gorgeous. The Hall also offers free kayak/canoe "rentals" which was a nice bonus that we took advantage of. The food is outrageous and has a feeling of Hells Kitchen to it. The hospitality here is next level. I think they should be renamed to Kanoza Fall as I sit by the bar having waited 30 minutes for a drink. I walked into the bar area and the entire staff ignored our party. But let me begin from the 5 year ARC with this property/reataurant. I have a home about 30 minutes from Kanoza. The first time I came I had a decent meal and a good massage. I went to dinner another time & enjoyed that meal but then came the FALL. The chef left as well as the bartender & the food and service tanked horribly. For the price I did not want to take a chance for another average meal. I decided to pop in for a drink to see if there was an improvement but sadly that was not my experience. There was no one at the front desk and when we walked into the bar no one from the bar greeted us & we waited 15 minutes to have our drinks order taken & then another 20 minutes to receive our amateur-hour drinks. It seems that they were prioritizing hotel Guests & their dogs which I understand. Sadly, I think I will stay in the dog house & leave Kanoza hall & not "call" there anymore. It is a Beautiful property. I wish the staff & present offerings matched. Not sure if how I look was an issue but it is possible. I would say if you look like you could live in Soho I should be "acceptable". read more

Reviewing for the entire stay: amenties (spa), rooms, and dining! This is my second stay at Kenoza and I brought my group of friends for a stay this time. Every detail of our experience was perfectly curated. I cannot thank the guest service team enough for taking the time to provide the extra energy and love beyond the already-luxe experience. The bungalows are absolutely beautiful: soaking tub, fireplace, snacks/wine, and romance.We are especially thankful to Roisin who led with warmth and great care for our party of 6. She really made our stay unforgettable down to the details. I would be remiss if I did not give a major shout-out to Chef Oscar Vargas and Sous Chef Dante for giving us the dining experience for the ages. Everything was absolutely delectable and delivered with artistry and decadence. The spa was an amazing experience. We all hit the sauna and hot tub and had various spa treatments. A couple of us even took yoga (studio at the spa) for the ultimate relaxation. We will make this Kenoza Hall weekend an annual friends trip. read more

This is a minor detail, but it means a lot to me: He makes a Popover with herb butter before dinner that has me in tears of gratitude. I could have eaten just that as my meal and been satisfied. I have to say that the dining ambiance overlooking the picturesque landscape only added to the enjoyment of it all. The relaxation room, in particular, was ideal for unwinding and letting go of any remaining stress. I got the Custom Massage, Custom Custom Facial, and Return to Nature treatments. I will admit that I booked later than I should have and nearly cried because there was a chance I would not be able to get the massage I desperately needed. Peyton was extremely helpful and considerate, and she did everything she could to get me into that appointment. Jessica was a gift from God, and she gave me the best massage I have ever had. I was always made to feel at ease and welcome there. Mariah provided me with an incredible first facial experience, complete with her advice and expertise. After the Return to Nature treatment, I felt reborn. It was truly exceptional. I also had the pleasure of taking two yoga classes with Rachel, who was so thoughtful of our comfort level and abilities. Despite the fact that I have been practicing yoga for 12 years and even have a teaching certificate, her level of care and attention astounded me. She provided us with numerous options as well as, most importantly, kindness and respect. I wish I could bring her with me! She was new to Kenoza, and I was in her first class. This is for the restaurant only. This place is offensively over priced even if it were located in Manhattan. Service is sub-standard with poor knowledge of the menu and wine list. A lack of training was evident despite the server's otherwise friendly demeanor. While we were seated - in a mostly empty restaurant, a couple arrived 30 minutes early for their reservation and were asked to come back (really?!?). Apparently a 6 top was just seated and that brought the seated guests to 10 which meant the couple had to wait. Michelin star prices with mediocre food and lackluster service. Give it a pass. Had the pleasure of eating dinner hear tonight. Beautiful surroundings, staff greeted you at the door. immaculate restaurant, we sat outside on the deck. Overlooking Kenoza Lake. Food was delicious and presented professionally. Served at the perfect temperature. I add the crispy duck, a la orange. It came as a duck breast sliced with a parsnip cream to garnish the plate feather than a vegetable. Wasn't what I expected, but it exceeded it! My only downfall to this experience was the restaurant is not handicapped accessible, Gravel pathway on a hill. Not conducive to using a walker. Kenoza Hall is absolutely charming. A great pandemic and non-pandemic getaway. We went in the winter and loved it. So much attention paid to the decor. Very cozy room-bed was super comfortable. Staff was exceptionally nice and attentive. The hotel prepared these great booklets on what to do in the area. Beautiful hikes nearby. Food was excellent, and hotel was very accommodating about serving it outside the dining room to help allay any social distancing concerns. This is JUST a review for the restaurant. I ate here on June 29th, 2022. We spent $484 on a dinner for 4, and the service was worse than what I would expect to get at an Olive Garden. From the time we arrived to when we left, I was shocked at the incompetence. When we arrived we were asked to wait for 20 minutes for a table because a walk-in table of 12 had come in before us asking to be seated; we said we would be fine having a drink in the bar, but the bartender took 15 min to take our order because she was "busy" (her words). When we were finally seated, it took another 10 minutes for our server to bring us menus, and on average I would say we were waiting for service more often than we were actually served. After we were done with our meals, our dirty plates sat in front of us for 20 minutes before I finally asked the manager in the lobby for our check. I have been to Kenoza Hall once before for lunch and was impressed, but I will not be returning and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Sad. read more

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Kenoza Hall and we loved every minute of it! Our services at the Hemlock Spa were amazing (massages, hair and scalp treatment and a facial) and everyone at the spa was incredibly informative and helpful. The spa, and the hotel in general, is peaceful and serene. It is the perfect place to unwind. From the spa to the common areas of the hotel, to the individual rooms, everything was clean, calming and welcoming! I cannot say enough about the entire staff! Rachel, Haelie and Ashleigh are so professional, informative and kind! They added a level of warmth to our stay that made us feel pampered and cared for. Jordan was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Chris is beyond gifted in the creation of cocktails! I thoroughly enjoyed every delicious drink that he made! We lost track of time while sitting at the bar having after dinner drinks and chatting with Chris! Chef Matt Ranalletta is so talented and every meal felt like a beautiful, delicious experience!
