The two brothers are complete rip offs promising my car would be like new after they had it a month. Held my car hostage unless I paid $350 more than what I was quoted. I Had my car 3 days and the a/c that was working no longer worked and my car died They had it another 3 weeks and now my window didn't work. Car was filthy. I Had it again a few days and it died again. Never to be drivable again. $2500 later, broken promises and they play head games pretending to be one another one the phone because they sound exactly the same. I used Ken's for years and liked them but when I went in to get a problem with the air handling system (issue switching between heat and cooling) they told me the coolant was leaking all over the place and wanted a whole bunch of money to replace the entire cooling system. Since I was getting cold air from one register on the passenger side, I knew that couldn't be true. The switch problem eventually corrected itself and the system worked fine throughout the summer. I like Ken's Automotive and I wish I could recommend them...but I can't. read more

If your considering Ken's, first observe for yourself the number of cars parked long long term in the parking lot. Resolve in your mind that this is an auto repair facility on prime real estate in nice Tomball that is, for some reason, consumed by broken down cars. This might trigger your spidey senses if you let it. And as far as their service, Understand that this is the sort of mechanic shop that prefers to replace a carburetor than attempt to adjust it. Even if it takes weeks to get the part. Without any diagnosis of the carburetor being faulty. This is from my personal experience. I think the owner seeks to be a nice guy, but his pirate ship is a right mess, not a tight ship. Came in to have my knock sensor and manifold gasket replaced. Went 1 mile down the street and the car was acting up again. Took it to Kia and they did a diagnostic and found that the mechanic at Kens had torqued it so hard he broke the knock sensor and it had to be replaced again. The manager at Ken's refused to cop to their error and is trying to place the blame back on me. Do not bring your car here. When a mechanic looks you in the eye and says it's all good and you drive away and the car is behaving exactly the same, you know that he blatantly lied to my face. This is our first time using Ken based on neighbor recommendations. Our daughter's car heater on her 2005 toyota highlander was not working. They were very responsive with diagnosing the issues. The pricing was very fair. Along the way, they were very responsive, keeping us updated. One of the parts was no longer available from toyota. They searched salvage places with success. They took the extra step to locate a local place that could rebuild the ac controller board. Even provided a 1 year warranty on that part. Job well done. These guys completely ripped off my grandparents. They brought their car in with with the engine light on. They charged more than $500 for a catalytic converter that was cheap, and worth only $150. They claimed to fix the brake line that had a hole in it, and charged more than $2000 to fix everything. When they got home, the engine light came back on and upon inspection, the hole was still there and could have set the brakes on fire because it was not fixed, and they screwed some things in so tight the wheels could hardly turn over. They had to have another mechanic fix the hole that Kens never fixed. My uncle has also been ripped off by this place. Do NOT bring your car here. Find an honest mechanic. *UPDATE* Their comment is not truthful. They charged over $2,000 for something that an honest mechanic fixed for $200. The honest mechanic also found that Kens put in cheap parts and overcharged for them. Kens also failed to fix the part that was broken. This put my grandparents in danger. We always use Ken's as our go to repair shop. Just recently we replaced the grill on my car at home as a DIY project and could not get the grill to tighten back up. I called a mechanic shop that was less than a mile away from me and they quoted me $125 and said I had to wait two weeks for them to tighten five screws. I went to Ken's and they got it done in under 15 minutes for free of charge. I'm always so grateful for their responsiveness and how willing they are to work with people. My daughter took her car to Ken's Repair Automobile on HWY 249 Tomball and was scammed by the contemptuous owner. Initially, they misdiagnosed the issue, claiming the throttle body needed to be replaced, and charged her $1500. After the installation, the car's condition worsened. We returned the car, and the owner assured us it would be made drivable, charging an additional $250 for a new computer. However, after this, the car's speedometer and other indicators started malfunctioning. Feeling unsafe returning to Ken's Repair, we took the car to another mechanic who discovered that the computer Ken had installed was faulty and was used. It seems this may have been done on purpose, as the car still needed a new computer. Please avoid this mechanic. They will overcharge you and not properly fix your car. read more

Ken's Auto Repair has done me wrong. They say they're 'Honest', but when I left my car to be repaired, someone stole my house key. You may ask, how do you know it was them? Well, when I left my keys with them, I had my house key. After I got them back, no house key. My keys were never out of my possession except for this incident. Lesson learned: don't leave your house key on the ring. Just hand over the car key. I called to let them know what happened and all I got from Frank was, "I'll let Alex know." "I've know these guys for 7-8 years and this is the first time I'm hearing about something like this." "We'll have a meeting to address the issue." Well, that's all well and good, but I let them know that the key is useless now since I had to have the locks changed. I told him to be sure and tell the guys that!! Having a meeting doesn't help me. Talking to Alex doesn't change the fact that I had to go through the process of getting my locks changed because I couldn't get into my house! They're a bit pricey too. I experienced horrible service I brought my car in for some pretty minor repairs and my car has no history of mechanical problems and when I got my car back the following day it doesn't run. I posted one consumer review over my experience there and the shop owner reported me and then he called me to threaten me for leaving a negative consumer review for his shop I had to get the sheriff's department involved. Now I believe the guy has people stalking me and harassing me so I would say in my opinion this guy runs a pretty good game at Ken's Auto Repair screw people over on repairs and then proactively try to act like the nice Christian guy but then covertly tries to destroy people who tell the truth about his shop...... buyer beware So we'll see now if there repercussions for this consumer review read more

My check engine light had been on and throwing a couple of codes, one of which said I'd need to go to the dealer to find out the cause. I live in Aldine and ended up in Tomball at Ken's Auto Repair based on a recommendation from the mechanic shop that repaired my transmission. After diagnosing the issue I was informed my warranty, Warranty Solutions, would not cover to replace the front catalytic converter and O2 sensors. However, the diagnostic service was quoted to me at $140 and when I got there the owner only asked for about $97. After talking with the owner he offered me a couple free oil changes with any type of oil I wanted, like full synthetic or whatever. I told him what I mentioned earlier about where I live and why I was there and that coming there for an oil change was highly unlikely due to the drive over so he ended just refunding me the money I paid. I would recommend this shop to anyone who wants a honest mechanic, which nowadays you would have better luck finding a unicorn. read more

BEWARE HORRIBLE SERVICE AND TREATMENT BEWARE. I took my car for diagnoses somewhere else first and got a computerized diagnosis. I called around for cheapest price. Kens undercut everyone by $400 so I was forced financially to go there. It simply needed 2 oxygen sensors. and they recommended fuel injection cleaning and spark plug changing. I agreed to allow them to do that. They called stating the job was finished within a few hrs so went to get it. The engine light was off so I believed everything was ok. I drove 4 miles app. and the engine light came back on.I called and they said to come back in so they could run the codes again. The only code was O2 sensor wires. It didnt even throw that code to start with. SO I asked what all that meant and called my mechanic friend in Kansas. ALex heard me talking to my friend and became belligerent toward me. I didnt even get as far as to accuse Kens of foul play when Alex stated that I must have a previous issue ( even tho it never showed up)and he would give me 50% the new work I need!! (Keep in mind that my car has NEVER had mechanical issues of any kind.) I started questioning Alex and then he told me he was going to fully refund my money and for me to leave and go somewhere else!!!??? I was in shock as to why and what was happening. I drove my car 1/2 block and it stopped running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So NOW My car was towed to a new shop and they are diagnosing what Kens did to my car and if they even did the repairs they were paid to do in the first place. I drove my car into Kens without any issues and it came out of Kens not even working at all.I cannot afford large repair bills or another car. ******** SO another issue with KENS is that I left only one review prior to this one in my neighborhood watch. SO Alex at Kens Automotive found out about the review and called me 2 hrs after I posted it to " CONFRONT" me about my review!!!!!!!!! HE was demanding to know why I had the nerve to post a review like that. He was very threatening to me and scared me. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I took my car in there with a check engine light on and what seemed to be a loss of acceleration for a few seconds off and on. These people called me a few hours later wanting $3500 for a brand new transmission. I told them DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO MY CAR! When I went to pick it up they had cleared the codes on it so that I cannot get a second opinion! Not only that, but my car was then sticking in gear and my rpms were revving to over 4000 and then my car would lunge forward. It was NOT doing that when I took it in. Furthermore, they gave me no paperwork - not even the code readings, and they refuse to give me any information regarding what they found or what they did. They said, "It's not in our system." And proceeded to tell me that they wouldn't have cleared the codes, essentially calling me a liar! They cleared the codes and refuse to give me any information so that I can't get a second opinion! read more

Horrible service. I went up there for an inspection. They ran the inspection, starred and circled the violation, told me to fix it and come back within x amount of days to have the re-inspect for free. I fixed it, went back up there an hour after they opened. "Oh, sorry, our state inspection guy is not here...he's running a little late." "Ok, when will he be here?" "Probably another hour or so..." So I went back up there the next day, the technician was there (different guy than the first time), and he hit me for something different. I told them it was just inspected, and that wasn't included on the original report. He said the other guy must have just missed it, so I needed to correct that, too. Bottom line: Extremely poor customer service. Can't get their people there on time. Can't fill out reports properly. Rude when confronted. read more

Ken's has always been very honest and fair. I have been doing business there since 2007. They didn't even know me back then. My first encounter was trying to pass inspection. They told me about a program at the time "drive a clean machine" this helped me turn in my vehicle that allowed me to have a down payment toward a new car. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! REFRESHING!! To know you can send your wife into a mechanic shop and feel comfortable knowing she's going to be ok and not taken advantage of. We had been using a different mechanic shop for years. Every time our vehicles went in for service our charges were never less than 1000.00, so this last time I declined the repairs and took my neighbors advice to take it to Kens. Frank, our service advisor, told us what things our vehicle actually needed and what could wait or was completely unnecessary. Repairs were done quickly and our costs went from $2,300.00 at our previous shop to just over $800.00. We will recommend Frank and Kens auto to everyone we know. read more
