Well, that was the 1st I have heard that I had cataracts, and I told her there was no way in the world she was going to operate on my eyes. She said that she may not allow me to drive. Now, I can decide if I'm safe to drive or not. I asked her if she was legally required to report it to the DMV and she said no, but sometimes she does - well, first, that's illegal. That is against HIPPA. Second, I am NOT going to let anyone bully me into something I am not comfortable with - especially with SOMEONE I'm not comfortable with. For that, alone, I will never go back to them. Also, though, the visit before that, I think I got the wrong script for my glasses because the glasses I had were not good, and she said my eyes got better - I know for a fact that was not true. I still haven't gotten my new prescription...

Although I had originally purchased them online a few years ago, I decided that I wanted to work with someone local, especially an optician who was familiar with shooters. Karen was GREAT. She took the time to dial in the Rx for both pistol shooting and for skeet/trap shooting. I was even able to bring in my pistol to fine-tune the distance (emptied and safety-checked, of course!) We created interchangeable lenses for the two different disciplines. (I have interchangeable lenses for my dominant right eye: one optimized for pistol shooting, focusing on the front sight, and another optimized for distance while shooting clays. The left eye is optimized for distance in both cases.) And I also got separate lens sets for low/flat light and for bright light conditions. Even better, she was able to use my existing frames (Ranger Edge, https://www.reranger.com/products/edge?variant=32703827607691). I used them for the first time a few nights ago at a pistol class. What a HUGE difference! I actually won the shooting competition that night! I HIGHLY recommend Karen and The Eyeglass Place in Newington, not only for your general eyeglasses but especially if you're a shooter and you want to work with someone who "gets it!"

Then late last year I brought in two sets of frames I purchased online to have them lens them for me (they were in a style no one was carrying). They took one look at them, tried to remove the clear lenses they shipped with, told me they wouldn't come out and they feared they might damage the frames so they couldn't help with them. I took them home and thought I'd see if I could remove the lenses - they all popped out hassle-free with zero damage. Excited, I called them and explained and they asked me to send them pics - I took the pics and sent them over while they waited. In under a minute they told me they still couldn't help me because the frames were low quality (I bought them on Amazon). I was uneasy about their replies so I went for a 2nd opinion - I stopped in at Harvey & Lewis at Hartford Hospital - I had used them years earlier when I was a high wage earner and needed a lower priced dealer. They took a look at both frames while I explained their lineage. In 5 mins they were fitting me for lenses in both pair. 2 weeks later I was wearing both pair. The story doesn't end there. Fast forward: I called Eyeglass Place to get my eye exam so I could get a new (extra) set of frames with the usual lensing. The day before the exam I rank to an issue and needed to reschedule which they did, somewhat begrudgingly. 2 weeks later, & 2 days before the rescheduled exam my ride had to work so I called again to move it out another week or so. The gal on the phone informed me that this was my 2nd reschedule and that it happened again I'd lose the privilege of booking in advance ever again and would have call in each day to see if they could see me that day. She left me feeling emasculated, like a child being scolded by his mother, so I acted accordingly. I went back to Harvey & Lewis, scheduled an exam and again, my ride got called into work so I rescheduled. While rescheduling, I asked them if there would be any kind penalty if additional rescheduling was required on my part.. The gal on the phone (Madeline) basically told me that life always has unforeseeable issues and that I could reschedule a half dozen times if that was what it took until it was right for me - they'd gladly still be there for me. My buddy (my ride and also a customer at Eyeglass Place, was also involved in this process and as of now, neither of us will be returning to Eyeglass Place. Clearly sometimes you really do get what you pay for. So, as a cautionary tale, if you're planning on going to Eyeglass Place Newington, please note that she's a jealous mistress, if you're not100% loyal to them, be prepared for your treatment will be meted-out proportionate to the extent of your "transgression."

Bought my glasses here over 6 months ago and suddenly my top right lens developed a defect. This time the defect appeared within 30 days and I went in and they said they would cut new lenses fully covered under the 30 day warranty. Got a text and went in expecting new lenses but they replaced the whole frame as well because they said the frame may be defective. These are Versace frames so they are not cheap, I was really floored. Well, that's really going above and beyond and while I have no idea if this will happen again (if so I'm told the prescription might just be incompatible with the frames) they have demonstrated superior customer service thus far.

The replacement frame did not last a year under less than normal conditions and this particular frame was discontinued (maybe because it was defective). I went back to the "Your Eyes" Office, not looking for a refund, but looking for some middle ground, considering I have an older pair of frames that lasted ten years and are actually still in good condition and I have the expectation that frames should last 5 years. Not only was I told they would do nothing to help me, I left the store being embarrassed by the Manager in front of all the people that were in the store. After meeting Dr. Greene and his staff, and after having a great emergency appointment with him that day I decided to make him my regular ophthalmologist. He is a great doctor. Intelligent, personable, down-to-earth, fun, humorous, and treats you like a friend. He has the best chat - - always answers questions and offers up lots of important health information too. I will never go here again. I waited nearly 4 months to see the female eye doctor (Aucello). When I…read morearrived the receptionist was very pushy and said she is backed up and asked me if I wanted to see the new eye doctor they just hired. It was the kind of request where if I said no I would look like jerk so I said sure. I wish I just waited and not cared because I heard the female eye doctor is the best. This man was not personable at all. I had multiple questions and he treated me like an incompetent woman. I knew after my visit with him I would never go to him again. The woman helping me with my glasses was nice but their selection was horrible and expensive. The worst was when I picked up my glasses! They didn't even provide any eye glass cleaner because they ran out... you seriously have none at an EYE doctor?? Now with billing. I went in November and just now in April am getting a bill. My insurance covers an annual eye exam 100% so I'm unsure why they are charging me nearly $200. I called to inquire and the male receptionist said he had no clue what was going on and he was going to talk to billing and get back to me that day when he returns from break. I heard nothing for 3 days. I just called back today and the female receptionist said there was no note on my file about my previous inquiry. She verified my insurance info and it matched so I have no clue why they are still billing me when my insurance covers 100%. She said they will contact me once they talked to billing. So I'm assuming I will not hear back and I'll still have an outstanding bill from this horrible place. Once my billing situation gets straightened out I will NEVER go here again. Sorry Aucello- maybe if I actually got to visit with you I would have a different opinion but this billing situation just takes me over the edge. Do not come here!!!
