The seating is fairly comfortable and there's not a bad spot in the house. You can see the stage from every angle. It's a smaller theater, which magnifies the intimacy of the productions put on here. I love that you can see the facial expression of the performers and are so close to the stage. This may not be the fanciest house in town, but there's something about being able to say you've been coming to this theater for generations and the nostalgia that comes along with the place.

There was much discussion some years ago about what to do with the building (it used to be City Hall, then was somewhat shuttered) and thanks to a large grant was turned into a theatre and offices. As a theater, it's quite adequate. The chairs were brought from a local high school auditorium that was being remodeled, so the orange and brown are not so sexy, but are not meant to be permanent. There are ongoing projects like upgrades to the sound system, and they certainly need to keep working on the lighting system. It's better than it was when the building was first re-purposed, but they're still working hard on funding a more robust setup. I've seen many shows, concerts, and other events here and it suits the purpose perfectly. You're apt to find the mayor in the audience some nights; it's just a community theater. While I'm not in love with the setup of the stage (it's not bad from the back, but starts to feel kind of high the further towards the front you sit) it's just great to have little places like this available to community groups. You can rent the theater for a modest fee, or see what shows are running there. Typically you will find community theater productions by The Midvale Arts Council, or shows produced by Pinnacle Acting Group, who do some lesser-known shows with some talented actors. Parking is limited, so you may have to park a block down at the new city hall and hoof it. Grab some food from the Taco street vendor before, and hit up Mexican food Leatherby's afterward. City Creek is also close by if you wanted to do some shopping beforehand. Theater itself is very clean. They do have a small concession stand. They also have a restaurant inside that would be fun to try before the play! The production of Phantom of the opera was incredible. We sat on the fourth row. I highly recommend sitting on that row or closer! The cast was outstanding and super talented. I highly recommend!

I purchased 3rd row tickets and had an amazing experience. i recommend buying merch before the event. it becomes an extremely long line afterwards. all of the staff were super helpful in finding our seats. they did a great job enforcing a no phones policy during the show, so that we could be fully immersed in the music.

Since our annual pilgrimage to Tower Theater didn't happen this year (thanks Covid) I was eager to find an alternative. It wasn't until my wife and I pulled into the parking lot, 30 minutes before showtime, that we realized this wasn't the movie, this was a real honest-to-goodness play. Gulp. How was this going to be? Fast forward a couple hours...it was AMAZING! I know this review isn't about the show itself, but rather the venue. So I'll say that the theater itself was beautiful, very comfortable and spacious. It accommodated a large audience nicely, with plenty of legroom and aisle space. I didn't feel cramped, like I do in other local, small theaters. Parking is plentiful, and free. I felt like our car was safe in the lot, and it was well lit, providing extra security. Now that I know this little gem is here, I'll look into what other plays they have coming up and will very likely return.

Everything was perfect and top-notch. The seats were comfortable, and this is the kind of place where there's not a bad seat in the house. I could see and hear all of it very well. The playhouse is lovely. The staff were lovely too! This was a great experience. Parking is limited, but it wasn't too difficult to find the parking around the neighborhood. The Capitol Theatre is a worthy home of the high-quality work that is presented here. It's a little bit less grand than what I'm used to, but still a beautiful stage and curtain that is well appointed and does what any good theater should. It successfully puts your mind in body in that space where you're ready to digest an artistic effort with just the right amount of respect and anticipation that is appropriate. It's also well managed. I've been to a couple of events held here in the lobby that were again... Perfectly conceived and executed. This is a real feather in Salt Lake City's cap.

It's easy to get to regardless of where you live in the valley-something that downtown can't boast. I visited to watch a ballroom performance (which was phenomenal, by the way) and was impressed by the layout and design of the building. The theater itself had two tiers, including box seating on the sides. The sound was impressive, and the seats were comfortable with good views all around. I'll keep an eye on this one to see what other performances are on the calendar. I'm looking forward to returning!

My tickets were purchased last-minute and we arrived just after the start of the show. As is the custom of theater, and common courtesy, we did not attempt to enter until after the number finished. We wanted to be as inconspicuous as possible so we quietly collapsed into the first vacant seats by the right doors. I looked around to see if any other seats might be accessible without causing too much of a disturbance to the other patrons. The curtain opened on the next number before I could finish scoping the place out. I was surprised to find that even though I was as far to the side as one could be, I still had a great vantage point. I could see everything. There were no obstructions. And though there were people seated directly in front of me, I wasn't bothered by their presence. The seats were high enough and were perfectly situated to get a good view between the two chairs in front of me. We didn't move seats and enjoyed the show immensely. The lighting, the sound engineering, and the seats were very good. My theater experience was comparable to that at Ballet West performances. I only gave four stars because I felt that I could hear every commotion in the hallway between numbers.

If improv ain't your thing, then it's probably best to stay away or come during the early evening for a straight up show. But Quick Wits has been at it for a while and depending on who's there it can be pretty entertaining. If you'll reach back to the recesses of your mind, you'll recall that this location used to be the Comedy Circuit. It's set up just like you'd expect a comedy club turned theater would be. And sure, it's had shinier days, but they do continue to light the marquee out front and since becoming Midvale Main Street Theater a few years back it's in good repair. Parking is on the street (perhaps in back? Don't quote me on that one) and I'm a fan of old Midvale Main. It's not the hip hop happenin' place it could be, but it's a unique place to grab some laughs.
