I was looking for a very specific automobile and had only ever driven by Kentson in Bountiful, but never stopped or called until a couple months ago. These guys are great. Super low pressure, lots of great inventory and I LOVED that they let me test drive by myself. I was able to try out lots of cars and felt comfortable giving them a real test drive as opposed to feeling held back by having the salesman with me. We have purchased several cars from Kentson, but it was years ago when they first opened in Bountiful. We were super happy with the experience and thought their sales team and cars were great. Fast forward to this year. We messaged them about a car since we were helping a friend who needed to purchase a car. I received a phone call from Trevor asking about our interest in the car and I told him we were coming in the next day to look at it, but mentioned to him we were looking at a competitors car as well. He told us that the competitors weren't good and sold lemon cars, which I thought was pretty negative of them. Especially since we've bought several cars from this competitor many times throughout the years and been super happy with them. And whenever we've told the competitor that we were looking at cars from Kentson, they didn't say one bad thing about them. When we went to test drive the cars today Trevor wasn't there but another sales guy helped us. He was helpful but all of the cars we drove were all filthy and smelled bad, or the tires were completely worn down and would have needed to be replaced. We walked back in to the sales floor after driving a car and our salesman wasn't there so we handed the keys to the salesperson there. He looked at us confused and like we were bothering him (even though there was no one else in there) and we wondered what was going on. We told him we were dropping the key off and were going to look at another one but didn't know where the other guy had gone. He didn't say much and it was really uncomfortable. Come to find out, that was Trevor that I had talked to the other day. It wasn't professional at all. Instead of greeting us and asking us what he could do to help us he just stared at us and acted confused. We went back outside and the other salesman was there with another car for us to drive. That one was much better, and my friend was seriously considering it, but after driving it we told them we wanted to check out the other one at Rand's just to see what it was like. They mentioned again how they sell lemon cars (they do sell buy backs with minor issues that have been fixed from Tesla) and that they would never buy cars from them. My husband told them that we'd be talking to the guy we usually buy from over there and we'd be in touch. All of us were really uncomfortable with how they were trying to trash the other car dealership and it left a really bad impression. We drove down to the other dealership and all of the cars there were so much better taken care of. They had replaced tires and detailed all of the cars and it was just a much better experience. We told them that we saw one at Kentson that we liked and he said that they are a great dealership and have good inventory. We all looked at each other and were blown away. It just made Kentson look even worse. My friend ended up buying the car from the competitors and not Kentson. And afterward both of us got calls and texts from Trevor asking us how the test drive was at the competitors. I texted him back that she ended up getting a different car (so that he didn't keep contacting us - talk about high pressure) and he wanted to know which one she bought! It's none of his business which car she purchased, and I knew he was going to look it up and tell me what was wrong with it and why we shouldn't have considered it. It was just super unprofessional and we all said we would never go back there. It's a shame because they used to be really good but they've gone way down hill!! read more

I recently bought a 2018 Suburu Legacy from Isaac at Kentson Car company. i was extremely excited about the purchase and everything seemed to be going well. We did a car fax and it came back with a clean title. The car has been running great until the transmission assembly went out, Which i was quoted at 9k to fix it from a another mechanic shop. I have only had this car for about 3 months and have put less than 3k miles on it. im frustrated and upset. When i contacted Isaac he had said that his manager could not do anything about it due to it being past 90 days. Chad offered a discounted rate through there mechanics. Overall my experience has been stressful. i dont honestly know that id recommend purchasing a vehicle form here. How do you sell a car and the transmission assembly goes out in 3 months? You might have better luck elsewhere. read more

We purchased a 2018 Honda odyssey less than 6 months ago. We are having major electrical problems, a Honda dealership said that we need to replace the entire floor harness which will cost $7600. Not to mention an additional $3000 worth of work; the timing belt tensioner is leaking, the arm bushings are torn, and valve adjustments are needed. It makes me wonder if they did any sort of inspection on the vehicle, even though they said they did. And when we purchased the car we tried to get an exclusionary warranty. They sold us one, that was crazy expensive, only for us to learn that is was nonexclusionary. We called the rep to ask what was going on and he said that they didn't sell exclusionary contracts for our car. So they lied to us and said well you can keep what you have or cancel it. Horrible service with service person Davis. We just purchased a 2021 Range Rover and drove it about 15 miles on the freeway and suddenly the tire pressure lessened and it was flat before we could barely exit the freeway. When we contacted Davis for some support with the flat tire, he was dismissive and refused any help and told us to figure it out. Additionally, they did not even have the ability to cut the pin off the tow package and we had to pay for that in addition. We ended up having to contact a towing service. Great 15 minutes with our new car! Ridiculous! I would never refer or purchase a car from this non-customer friendly place of business, if you can even call it a businesss. I inquired about a car I was going to try to get. The salesman had me fill out an application. I waited on a response for 3 days only to find out they had sold the car. They then tell me that they didn't run my credit to keep my score high. Then added that they somehow were able to view an old application with Bank of America and that they wouldn't have gotten the deal done anyway. After that they added that I had got my credit pulled for previous loans and that they wouldn't have gotten the deal done. Somehow they were able to get that info without running my credit. they then said they were going off the fact I told them my credit was not good and that I probably by myself wouldn't get a loan through BOA. But originally they said it was because they somehow were able to view my info without running my credit. i don't know what every one else's experience was but I would never consider them again in my life to use as a dealer. i have a friend in car sales and he said every one of their excuses was literally a bold face lie! read more

Monstrous waste of time. Kentson had made a legitimate offer through cars.com. The car was originally purchased with hail damage from a dealership that sells hail damaged vehicles. All of the documentation was available, including deductions for hail damage and an initial offer was made by Kentson for $17,600. Upon arriving the sales person went through all the traditional motions that give car dealerships a bad name. After all the excuses, the came back with an offer of $9,700. Very underhanded. I purchased a vehicle from Kentson a few weeks ago and have put less than 300 miles on it. Within a couple of days of driving the vehicle, I noticed a significant rattle when playing music coming from the driver side door. I contacted a GMC dealer to service the vehicle, and it took about two weeks to get in based on their availability and mine - and was told once they were able to look at it that this is a known issue with the window switch and that GMC engineering is working on a resolution. They even gave me a Doc ID of #6645914, which was assigned to the issue because it has been reported so frequently. Since this rattle essentially renders listening to music unbearable, I contacted Kentson after receiving this advisement from the GMC service center and I explained that the issue was never disclosed. I was told by a Kentson representative that they do check vehicles over before selling them but that they do not have a service department and cannot diagnose issues like this. I said the issue was obvious as soon as music was turned on and should have prompted research on their end or at least disclosure. They suggested that it would be possible to trade it in. I responded that this would result in an immediate loss that I would have to carry as negative equity into another vehicle on their lot that I would have the same quality control concerns for, and this would cause me to have to put an additional several thousand dollars down as a downpayment. Therefore, I opted not to do that. They then said there is nothing else they can do because I exceeded their five-day return policy. I wanted to support an independent dealership but have now realized that this is not the best way to make a significant purchase like a vehicle. The fact is they are selling high priced vehicles "as-is" with only a five day return policy, no additional recourse, no real knowledge of the cars they are flipping, very little to no due diligence and inspection, and none of the resources / infrastructure that come with large dealerships to deal with issues like this. As I think about this more, I am not sure what the value proposition is because these cars are selling at market price. I now realize that, from my vantage point, it is not a good idea to buy from an independent dealership - especially one that is focused on volume sales and lacks the aforementioned resources and controls. read more

Buyer beware if your out of state they charge $350.00 to process out of state dmv then another $600.00 for document fee. Then then they mail you the paperwork for you to go in and process at your local dmv! At no time was this charge ever discussed, even after we agreed on a price and they knew we had a 8 hour drive. Very disappointing for sure, then they would not except cash for down payment, we had to drive and pay to get a cashiers check! What happened to make it easy to buy? Never have I been turned away for having cash. Vehicle was not clean, not sure who they are using for detailing but they may want to get someone new. Salesman Jake was professional but the buying experience definitely could have been better, especially when dropping almost 90k on a vehicle. read more

I've had nothing but radio silence and confused reps when I attempt to contact them: 5/15: Sent email via their website - no answer 5/16: Completed credit application on their website to show I'm truly interested - nothing 5/17: Called their office, "Oh, we sold that car a few days ago, our inventory on car search websites isn't updated often, sorry. We can find this model for you again." 6/17: Never heard back about their supposed search for me. Same car with the same VIN is still on Autotrader.com 6/18: Call their office again, ask about the same car. Confirm VIN and mileage are the same...."oh, we sold that yesterday." They advertise being an online dealership, but I could never get anyone to respond to an email or text. I finally made and appointment and went and drove a car, as it looked great online and was a good price. They let me take the car solo for a while, which was nice. But the car was gross. They claimed it had been detailed, but there were still stains on the seats, and tons of crumbs in the cup holders and candy on the floor. After looking at the carfaxes, their cars are former rentals, and it showed. They looked like rentals. Even with all that, I was still interested a car there. After zero follow up from them, I called the kid I had talked to and told him that I was actually very interested, and asked him to send me some breakdown on payments, and to see if he could get it detailed, and follow up on a few lights that were on on the dash. He sounded excited on the phone, but a week later, and I never heard back from him. I felt like I had to almost beg them to sell me a car. I ended up going to a big dealership, got a better deal, and had a wonderful experience. A no commission sales staff sounds good, but not if it means they could care less if they get your business or not. read more

Kentson is running the oldest scam in the used car sales man book. They force you to go to their financing and the bank gives them a kick back. This is not your best or only option and of course the rate is higher and the financing company is are charging you the money to give to the dealer. In the long run you dont only pay the extra hidden fee to the dealer you also pay more than a 1,000 in interest over the life of the loan. If they are adding on this hidden charge they are adding on a lot more. read more

I purchased a car yesterday from this company. While I am happy with the vehicle and the price, I was very unimpressed by the quality of their customer service. When we got their and asked to see a few vehicles we were just handed the keys. No one walked us to the car, or pulled it up for us. When we decided that we wanted to purchase the car we went inside to do the paperwork. No one offered us a water or anything. Mind you, it was 97 degrees outside and I had my 3 young children with me. I guess some people might like this kind of salesperson, not hovering and no pressure. But I personally would like to feel like the person I'm buying my car from cares. Cares about me, my family, my experience and in the end that I end up happy with it overall. read more

This is the only way to buy a car. I am very happy with my experience and would use this company again - and it looks like many of the other customers feel the same (as always, I am not sure why so many Yelp reviews have been filtered out - bad algorithm?) I have been researching cars for two months and narrowed it down to two Online dealers (Carvana and Kentson). Both Online dealers were cheaper than the dealerships in Colorado and Kentson's was the lowest price (and the location was closer). Compared to the local dealership, Kentson's was almost $3,000 cheaper and I did not have to hassle with the fake-negotiations, pressure, etc... you find in a regular dealers. _Pros_ *Cheapest price for previously leased vehicles (my 2015 SUV was clean and in good condition with only 18K miles on it; original warranty is still in place). *Sales people are not working on commission - so no sales tactics, no negotiating, the price is already determined. *Good inventory in two lots in Bountiful, Utah, e.g. there were four identical models (different color and mileage) for me to choose from. *Cache, the salesperson who helped me, was polite, extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made this an enjoyable experience (not something you usually associate with car shopping!) *Mark in financing was very helpful and quick to respond to my inquiries. I ended up paying cash but appreciated his assistance. *No sales tax since I was out-of-state (just a small $110 fee by the state of Utah) so this reduced the price even more! *No hidden fees; dealer docs were $295 _Cons_ Website may not be up-to-date since they sell so many vehicles quickly. Call ahead before you make an appt to see if the car you want is available. Emails responses to the sales Team are not always answered - again, calling them is best. If you are out-of-state, you will need to fly in for the test drive. The flight + car to Bountiful + food and gas for the drive home added $340 to the cost (I still saved $2,500+ on the SUV + the sales tax savings). They do have a delivery service you can use but I am more comfortable test-driving before making a purchase this large. read more

my wife and I drove 5 hours to go see a jeep that we were interested in, sadly the jeep was sold by the time we got there, as soon as we got there a guy came up to us we told him we were looking for certain jeep he told us they did not have it "sorry" he did not offer if we wanted to see more cars or anything. they have good cars just their personnel is rude. felt a bit discriminated or they maybe thought we were to young but we left empathy handed. they did not work with us to get the car or anything no help at all we had the money needed to take the car that day but i guess they decided that they just did not want to sell it to us. do not recommend this place if you are hispanic everyone else in there were getting great service but us. read more

We bought a Grand Cherokee here. The selection was just fantastic. They had, like ten options of several different makes of mid and large SUV's. It is a used car lot, but it seems like a new car lot. I believe the price was about as low as we could expect to get. They let us take the Jeep home and drive it up our (very steep) driveway. Home is 40 minutes away so that was great that they were willing to just let us take it. They have a very 'non-car dealer' approach. If you hate haggling, this is the place because they don't seem to haggle at all...either that, or I just didn't do well in the negotiation. I would give them five stars, except I couldn't shake the feeling that my sales rep just wasn't extremely interested in my car deal and also that they did not come even one inch in my direction during the (non) negotiation. I know they do it differently, but after a life of negotiating a car deal every time, it would have been great to feel some movement to my side...any movement. I bought anyway because everything else was so right on it. It has been a great vehicle so far. I probably will buy here again. read more

The exceptional prices are the initial draw to this place, but Kentson has a very different approach to selling cars. All of the salesmen there are part owners so the approach to selling is unlike any other place . They each have a true vested interest in the overall business and not just pushing sales numbers for themselves (ingenious business model). It is all about a great experience and service. This is by FAR the best service and experience of any car dealership we have ever worked with. After having a newly purchased SUV for a few weeks there were a few minor issues. The response from Kentson (Mark and Zach) was unbelievably impressive. They went out of their way to make sure the couple minor issues were addressed. This is the second vehicle we have purchased through them and will not be the last. Kentson Car Company has completely shed the creepy reputation of a used car salesman. My husband and I knew we wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and after looking at cars,com, I saw Kentson had a large selection of them. But what I didn't expect was for the purchase to feel very much like buying new. The inventory was well thought out and not mis-matched like most used dealers. All of the cars were clean, old plates removed, no ugly window stickers, and all parked very tidy in neat rows. I found the lot very appealing. The office building was new and modernly decorated, and the staff was easy and relaxed. Also...there was no price haggle. This was not exactly what my husband was expecting, but on further inspection of other dealers comparable inventory, it appeared their prices were quite good and haggling just wasn't necessary. We test drove 5 different Cherokee's before settling on the perfect one, even taking one 20 minutes away to our home to be sure it could handle our unusual driveway and garage.. This was the nicest, easiest, and most pleasant used car buying experience I've ever had. read more
