Motoring in my rented SUV through the gorgeous Laurel Highlands region, I had roughly an hour to drive the seven miles between the two homes right through this park. Right in the heart is a most worthwhile stop, Ohiopyle Falls, a twenty-foot waterfall that spans the wide Youghiogheny River over a couple of dramatic levels. The parking lot was huge and pretty empty, and it was a quick stroll to the broad observation decks that jut out over the river. There was a group of kayakers huddled together as they were preparing to navigate the whitewater torrents. The hamlet of Ohiopyle provides a welcome coffee break. Such a beautiful scenery which looked to be a couple hundred acres of the deep tall tree mountains. Sunset and Rise was just bliss as well!! We enjoyed all the natural waterslides in the river which runs thru town. Ate some good brisket, taters. fried veggies, and couple crispy brews at Falls City Pub as we stopped at the diff places of Chalk-Hill. Super affordable price, cheaper than the state park campground. We stayed in the small group campsite area and it was plenty big. Only reason it's a 4 star is because the bathrooms/showers are far away and very minimal. Bring quarters for the shower, you insert them in a metal box on the side and turn the dial. My advice to you is just pee in the woods, it's easier than walking forever to get to the bathroom.

The location to Ohiopyle, Farmington and Uniontown is fantastic! Lots of fun things to do in the area. If you just want to take it easy, this is an ideal campground to chill. We enjoy the swimming pool, dog parks and hiking trails. There is also fishing, golf, arcade, play area and weekend events. I'm super bummed that I couldn't make this year's Big Foot Weekend. Love the new bathhouses!!! And the yurt village is adorable!! See you next year!

Pros: family friendly, many activities included in your stay, nice and laid back cabins, wonderful trip if you are with those with a disability (rent a golf cart and cruise around all week) Pro or con- you decide: Not sure if it's a pro or con but they've cracked down on golf carts. They've become very strict and have people patrolling at night. It's chaotic and the workers don't know what's going on because it's so crazy at times however they seem to be flexible and find ways to figure it out. For example the lemonade server will get you a coffee pot for your cabin if you need one and the golf cart maintenance guy will figure out how to get you your salad you ordered a while ago lol. It's very unorganized and you can tell the workers are a bit lost but they roll with it and get it done. The store is very overwhelmed with the majority of the campgrounds tasks There's some blurred lines and instructions with activities. If you are a regular you will Know what's going on but if not, you won't. Example: there was a hayride that cost money scheduled at a certain time. We showed up with our money. We slowly realized as we stood in line that tickets had to be pre bought and scheduled a time. This wasn't listed anywhere. We asked people infront of us and behind us how they knew what to do and they said, "we just know because we've been coming her for years ." More details or clearer directions would be nice. Cons: the new keyless check in is a disaster- yogi does not have good cell service at all and even if you connect to their WiFi, it's still bad. Long story short, the wireless check in is not working. We opted for the old school key and entered our cabin that way. You need exceptional WiFi for technology like that and they don't even have average or acceptable service in this area

The terrain was challenging at times with rocks and fallen logs that required climbing. Areas also very muddy that could not be avoided. The path is clearly marked and getting lost would be something someone did on purpose! Across the street from falling water, the parking lot is behind the barn. Multiple trails of varying difficulty. Would definitely visit again.

This place is amazing!! A big thanks to Susan D and her list of hiking places for pointing it out! This is not to be missed if you're looking for some outdoor adventure and some great hiking along miles and miles of trails. We drove out here solely to spend a great fall day in the woods. Armed with trail maps we got online we picked out roughly the miles we wanted to hike and started off. What surprised us was the condition of the trails - amazing! Some were pine covered making for soft comfortable walking. Others were moss or grass covered and a few had some loose rock that you had to be careful with. I know this is Laurel Mountain but I was amazed to be hiking through dense forests of spectacular mountain laurel and rhododendron. What a gorgeous place! We were there after all the leaves were gone but we are sure to come back when the place is in bloom or in full fall color. We didn't run into a single person anywhere during our extensive hike ( we enjoyed it so much we went far beyond our initial hiking plan!). If you enjoy hiking and being outdoors, I highly recommend you give Bear Run a try. It's worth the drive!!

He inserted himself coaching my family who was doing well in unfamiliar surroundings and caused divisions by insinuating my husband was doing all the work and we weren't helping him. This Team doesn't appear to have it together. We listened to Johnnys long story about nothing on the busride to the river only to find out we had to still stand in the hot sun while he gave another 45 minutes of instructions (which could have been given on the bus instead of the joke attempts). the lunch spot has tall grass and biting flies. Johnny got mad at another family because they could work the valve on the archaic water jugs and sarcastically stepped in to show everyone how easy it was. We were all super thirsty and under stress mind you. we will never go with this outfitter again.

The communication was great throughout. Our guide was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and on top of the responsibilities of the tour. This is a great activity to push yourself, but not in a way that you will regret it the next day. A great time had by all! I would highly recommend this company or use them again if I was to book a trip like this.
