A small meat market that sells a little bit of everything! Their meat is very cheap! I got three packs of chicken, some carrots, celery and BBQ sauce for only $17! You can't beat a deal like that. This is my second time in a week visiting this place, but I had to, especially after learning that they have oysters at a really great rate. They have so much more, seafood, dairy meats, and all of the specialty items that you can find from local sellers. They also have an array of produce And some of the grocery staples all in one small place where you don't have to go to a big chain or grocery store. I will continue to visit this place each time I come to Mebane to find those specialty items like wild caught fish and what we used to call "hoop" cheese, both medium and sharp, all of those other items that I love. Wow, I've totally changed my mind on this place after our last visit. I was charged twice for 2 rib eye steak - $15.95 was the amount of the overcharge, shown clearly on the receipt (picture posted). Then to cap it off, both the rib eye and the cube steak were off tasting - very much off tasting - as toward rancid. I threw all of both items in the trash. Anyboby can have a bad day, but this a little beyond that. I will not be going back. read more

I have been a customer since 2019. I find that the beef, chicken, pork - any of their meat is always extremely fresh and the price is mostly the same as Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Publix. The big difference their meat is cut fresh and you can also call-in orders for any special cuts or weights you may need. Great for fresh turkeys during the holidays too. Kenyons is a great local market! I shop there on a weekly basis. The store is small, but quaint and the owners are super friendly. They have a superb meat selection with terrific prices. I have bought and recommend: ribs, pork chops, chicken breast & tenders, filet, ribeye, hamburger patties, and ground beef. They even make their own ground sausage. It's great! Another convenience, they will make special cuts for you on request. We LOVE Kenyon's. We only wish they had more selection of fresh, local, produce. I've never been a big fan of steak or red meat in general, but Kenyon's steaks are delicious, buttery, goodness. We have lived near Kenyons for awhile but missed out on them because we generally do not shop where they are located. That has been our misfortune. While we were searching for a standing rib roast for Christmas dinner and someone told us about Kenyons, so we shopped there. We ordered the roast and were very pleased with the meat quality and price, and the welcoming by the employees. Since then we have added fresh produce and fruit from Kenyons. We found their prices to be fair, and generally less than the large grocery stores. However, their products are far better than grocery stores. They have lots of speciality products that usually one can only find in deli markets. Kenyons reminds me of the small corner store that used to exist in the 50', 60's and 70's, before the big box stores took over. Kenyons is now our go to store for meats, fresh produce and fruits. We just bought fresh asparagus and strawberries that are farm fresh quality. Don't miss shopping here. read more

I guess now that I'm responsible for referring all of the people that I like to Kenyons (including one that actually thought I was referring to people from that country in Africa), I guess I should write the first review. Kenyons is a great, locally-owned meat market, carrying, along with meat, some vegetables, dried beans, (Mapleview) milk and dairy products, (Latta) eggs, and the obligatory American beer. Their main show comes from the meat, pork and poultry. They don't dress their meats with preservatives (*cough - Lowes) nor do they buy their products frozen. I never knew that Mapleview distributed their own butter until seeing it at Kenyons. I once ordered something obscene like 50 lbs of chicken for a party. Sheepishly, at the end of my phone call, I asked Renee (momma Kenyon) if they could cut into pieces so that I could easily slide the pieces onto a kabob. She didn't bat an eye and, viola, I had cut-up chicken that was delicious (and fed us for we-- scratch that-- months). The meat prices are quite competitive. The only time that it may be cheaper elsewhere is timing it just right at the grocery store. But the quality is unmatched. There really is a difference. read more

The quality of the meat (chicken, beef, pork, ground turkey, etc) is probably the best I've ever been able to buy in a local market. They don't add a bunch of preservatives to their meat, and you can really taste the difference (our friends love the burgers that I make with their beef), If you need ANYTHING special ordered/cut/packaged/etc, Renae and Darrin will go out of their way to get it for you. Their prices are extremely competitive as well. We exclusively buy our meat and milk there. read more

I have lived in Mebane for about 5 years now but never really gave Kenyon's a chance. I assumed that a local meat shop would be out of my price range but I was very wrong. I recently went there on a whim to pick up some chicken quick and was pleasantly surprised by the pricing and came back with my wife to stock up on our meat-needs for the week. The food was very reasonably priced and at a high quality at that. The staff are incredibly friendly, personable, and helpful and is a nice throw-back to the family environment you don't get in a big chain store. Any time I bring my one year old with me, the staff are quick to give him a bag of goldfish crackers which keeps him happy during our trip. They also sell local produce, honey, seasonings, and sauces. Try their apple butter. Honestly the best I've ever had. read more

Kenyon's is Stellar! I've used local butchers in Carrboro and Raleigh, and Kenyon's is exceptional folks! Their chicken and beef are fresh, well cut, and a great value! Mapleview milk available, as well as ice cream and butter. Just bring the bottle back each time, so the bottle deposit can be returned, and enjoy fresh, local milk! I get large quantities of chicken for the "Dog House" of 5 and canine patients. They put 20-40 lbs aside for me without a stutter or a qualm. There is never any discoloration or odor as signs of rank meat. They have local wines (Iron Gate, $10), Latta's Egg Ranch eggs ($2/dozen!!), and some minimal produce. I had some ribeye steaks cut to order and I have to say they are some of the best steaks that I have had since I moved here in October. I am nearly 80, have COPD, and have not left home since March 14 due of the threat to my life with the COVID-19. I had not been a customer at Kenyon Meat Market and I called and spoke to Renea Kenyon and she immediately offered to do whatever was necessary to get any groceries we needed, in order to keep me safe! Renea could not have been more loving to me and I knew she cared about my welfare, immediately. I made a rather large purchase of groceries which Renea personally put together. The filet we ordered was so tasty and we could cut with a fork. All of the meat - pork, chicken, beef was freshly cut for our order. All the produce was farm fresh - in fact, everything was super fresh. We are eternally grateful to everyone associated with Kenyon Meat Market, 1915 S NC Highway 119. We had been looking for a local meat market and came across Kenyon's. I cannot say enough good about their meat. My grandson actually eats meat now AND asks for more, he's gained weight, something he desperately needed to do. I won't buy meat from anywhere else unless forced, I tried once and just couldn't eat it. I've seen a couple of bad reviews and honestly do not understand one of them (the other seemed to be a personal basher). The meat is tender, juicy and the steaks are to die for! They do not use additives in their meat, which is a definite plus for our family. We've also bought their butter, cheese and milk and it's fantastic as well. read more

I have been shopping at Kenyons since it opened. Rarely do you find home grown folks like the Kenyons. The beef, poultry, chicken and other products are the best grade around. And I can't say enough about their willingness to order, cut and package it the way you want. Don't hesitate to shop there. 5 stars all the way!!! I started shopping for a new meat source when the "Pink Slime" issue came out. All the big stores have been selling us ground beef "enhanced" with this "pink slime" (Lean finely textured beef as they call it) without our knowledge? Profits at OUR expense! I saw Kenyon's when visiting Southern States and decided to check it out. I discovered the ground beef was priced very close to what Lowe's Foods, Wal-Mart and Food Lion regularly charge. That surprised me. I bought a pound and made burgers on the grill (lean burger) and the result was a light mouth feel, tender, none of the gristle and "hard bone-like bits" or hidden connective tissue I've found in ground beef from Food Lion, Lowe's and especially Wal-Mart ground beef! I went back and bought a larger package of the 70/30 type product to make a stew. Same result. As my girl-friend says, "I just can't eat that other meat anymore" (she threw it out for the nightly possum to enjoy (fresh burger from Food Lion). We don't have the money to just throw out good food. Of course, "good food" is not what was thrown out! Shop Kenyon's and you won't regret it! I don't really know the people there, but I will get to as that's my new meat shop! read more
