What a blast! This was our favorite tour of the entire cruise. We met Cullen at The Mill in Ward Cove. He transported our small group to Downtown Ketchikan while giving us a rundown of the facts and colorful history of the area. As we were passing McDonald's, we just had to ask if there was a dollar menu. Nope. However, they do have a value meal for $18. All of it was surprising to me. Even traveling around Alaska by air can be challenging. We were introduced to Hamish when arriving at our first pub stop in front of The Asylum. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. He was awesome! He gave us such great details about the pubs we were visiting as well as the history of Ketchikan. All while enjoying our drinks. We even had a few shots along the way. This tour led us to 3 historical (and very popular) bars: The Asylum, Artic Bar, and Sourdough Bar. I liked them all, but my absolute favorite was The Asylum. The owner is very upbeat & passionate about his bar. That's truly what makes it unique. Although, I will say that the Bear Scat at the Sourdough is right up there with the Duck Fart. Haha!! We also learned a little more about Hamish at the Arctic Bar. He's a popular guy, and an Alaskan native (born & raised). His roots may be Scottish, but he had some really great local stories to tell. I won't ruin it for you. Just take the tour. You won't be sorry. read more

We booked this excursion through the cruise like and had a blast. I don't remember their names but our tour guides were so fun! We started off at the Sourdough Bar where we learned about the legendary Dolly and the fishing history oh the town. Here we enjoyed a local beer and a bear scat shot Next Event to Totem Bar and had a Polar bear piss shotski which was quite interesting. And we ended at Artic Bar where we had their signature cocktail and a Salmon Fart. I would highly recommend this tour if you're ever in town. Not only was it fun trying new drinks with fun names but learning all the history was the cherry on top! read more

We had a great excursion from the Noordam on sept 28! Cullen took us to the Arctic Bar (home of the happy bears) , the Asylum (where we met the legendary Carlos) and the Totem Bar. We all had such a good time. We had beers and some Happy Bear Hooch and Duck Farts (hey, don't knock it til you've tried them...yum!). We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day to enjoy our walk. I look to Yelp for reviews and was shocked to only find one here for the Ketchikan Pub Crawl. We had the best time. As a matter of fact, we touched base with our pub friends later on the ship and we all had family members that wished that had joined us because our day was far more fun. Stasha was a blast, but I am sure the other crew is just as fun. It's a mix of history, local pubs, maybe a shot or two (nobody will judge) and lots of laughs. My fiancé and I did this pub crawl as an excursion on our cruise to Alaska in October 2023. We absolutely loved it! Our cruise ship docked in Ward Cove, which is a 10-15 minute drive outside of town. Tim met our group at the cruise terminal and drove us into town, which saved us having to worry about the busy shuttles into town from the port. We went to three establishments in town, including a recently opened distillery inside an old fire station. Jillian was our tour guide and was fantastic! She is a permanent local resident and grew up in Ketchikan, so she was able to give us real insight into what it was like living and growing up in the town on top of the historical significance of the city. The establishments gave us great drink options, and a real look into where the locals in town hang out. At the end of this great tour, while being dropped back off at the port terminal, my fiancé's phone fell out of his pocket getting out of the van, and he didn't realize it until we made it back through security on the ship. Naturally we panicked, since the all-aboard time was in 30 minutes. He was able to get the ship excursions manager to call the tour. Tim found his phone in the back seat and made it all the way back to the cruise terminal in 15 minutes! My fiancé was EXTREMELY grateful and relieved for the extra miles (literally) they went to help him get his phone back. I highly recommend this tour for anyone that loves local pub crawls! read more
