Ambiance was good except the music and speakers were right across from us. Too loud to talk sometimes. The service was great but I ordered the prime rib. Was not asked how I liked it cooked. The restaurant is located at the Salmon Falls Resort. The food is good, not wonderful. The burger is the best in town bar far! The staff is friendly, and all happy to be working for the season. You will see lots of locals getting out of town. We ate here multiple nights due to staying at the resort. I wish they would have changed the menu up and also served filtered water!! read more

We dined at Timbers after a half-day fishing charter, and we were very pleased with our meals. The ambiance and environment is top notch with an unbeatable view (many thanks to the ever-lovely Colleen for the waterfall table!). I utterly devoured the salmon entree--the slaw, rice and miso glaze paired so well. I thought when it came out I would've wanted more rice and slaw, but it ended up filling me up well as it was. My dad ordered the prime rib special (Saturdays online I believe), and he cleaned his plate. We shared the cookie sundae as recommended by our delightful waitress, and it did not disappoint when paired with coffee! So after 2 visits to the Timbers I have to say it's wonky and unreliable. First visit I got the spotted shrimp soup which has no actual shrimp pieces I could tell and possibly the essence of the shrimp. I ordered the halibut as the main which came with some of those string zucchini similar to spaghetti pasta in a green possibly pesto sauce which was great but the halibut was over cooked so much the waitress immediately said she would refund it without me asking. Massive downgrade from last season. Service was decent. The hostess was available within a minute and our server was very attentive. Live music is way too loud from anywhere in the restaurant-- you can barely hear the rest of your table. We ordered the pork belly appetizer with the pork chop and a burger as entree. The kimchi was the star of last year's pork belly. This year it has changed recipes and was nearly nonexistent. We got *individual* slices of cucumber and carrot for the entire $17 entree. We couldn't even share it. The pork chop was excellent. I agree with the other review critiquing the underwhelming amount of broccolini, but every element of the dish had good taste and was cooked well. The burger-- on the other hand-- was awful. A single, half slice of bacon and an incredibly stale bun. Basically no sauce. Burger was overcooked; I wasn't asked for temp and I generally don't care, but this thing was rough to swallow. This is one of the spendiest places in town so this was a disappointing experience. Can't fault our server: she did good and we chose not to bring it up with her. The food is excellent here and they have a nice menu. And the portions are hearty. All the employees work very hard to make sure you are happy and satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant. We thought this place was SO good! I am only giving it a 4 star because everything was a bit overly sauced/salted. We each got something different (most of our crew has been here many times because they live in Ketchikan), and had great recommendations. The drinks were a bit sour according to the people who were drinking... not their favorite experience. But the food was great! We had the calamari (nothing special, also not loving it Italian style with the marinara- wouldn't recommend), buffalo wings (worth it- nothing crazy but not bad at all!), wedge salad (this was exceptional, however ask for dressing on the side as it was DRENCHED which really took away from the freshness of everything else), Halibut Fish and Chips (SOOOOO WORTH IT! HUGE PIECES OF FISH, NOT GREASY, LIGHTLY FRIED, SOOOOOO YUMMY!), Steak and Mac and Cheese (OK, the mac and cheese is wheres its at!), Prime Rib with Baked Potato (our group was mixed on this one...), Salmon Dinner (TO DIE FOR- JUST DO IT!), and Halibut Dinner (really good, not the best halibut I have ever had personally- a bit dry for me, but my hubs LOVED IT!) The mashed potatoes that come with these dinners is also excellent. My only suggestion again is just tone down the salt/sauce/seasoning. The chef clearly knows what he is doing, but it was just a bit heavy on the salt for everything for our liking. Next time I would like to try the desserts- they looked amazing! The atmosphere, service, view, and live one man band was killer! If you are in Ketchikan you have to come to the restaurant if you're not staying at the Lodge and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get the fish and chips, mac and cheese, or salmon dinner... you wont regret it! read more

Great menu with a ton of choices - 5 different steak options, 5 seafood options, 8 or 9 sides, delicious appetizers, nice wine list, great crafted drinks from the talented and friendly bartenders, superior service, amazing wilderness and water views. And the food was all delicious! Friday night was prime rib night and live entertainment. We stayed in the North Tongass area for about a week. We enjoyed fishing for Salmon, hikes, a helicopter tour, bear sitings, bald eagles and even with all of that one of the highlights of our trip was the dinners at the Timbers Restaurant. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and restaurant was perfect. We ate here multiple nights and tried a lot of dishes and none of them disappointed. In a place where it's either burgers or fish and chips everywhere else it's nice to sit down, enjoy a bottle of wine with friends, listen to live music and eat a proper meal. read more

Salmon Falls is under new management and they have added a nice deck with fire pit just outside the bar to enjoy and relax. Also new chef (Aaron I think) who is doing a great job. We ate here twice so far. Once was for Prime Rib Friday and another was Filet Mignon. Both were great and desserts were excellent as well. Also they have a nice bar with a couple TV's to relax with. Views are really nice and beautiful waterfall right outside to walk to after dinner. Overall great and highly recommend. A couple improvements could be to add a pasta dish or two and include a couple basic options in hamburger or French dip. Also need to have a kids menu (but I understand they easily make some things for kid upon request). read more

This is my 4th year coming to Salmon Falls with a group of friends for fishing. A couple of years ago the former owners decided to retire and sold the business to new owners. The service both on the dock and in the restaurant/bar have always been good. Tonight, however, my experience at the restaurant was a total disaster. I and a couple of my friends ordered filets for our entree. The meal delivered to our table was not a filet. In fact the kitchen tried to disguise a rib eye steak (which I love) as a filet by folding it over to make it look like the normal 2" thick filets. I brought this to the managers attention and he said he would discuss it with the kitchen and get back to me. He never returned to our table. In addition the side dishes were luke-warm. As we are here on a fishing package our meals are included in the package. When our bill arrived we discovered that we had been over-charged for our meal. I brought this to the attention of the server who removed the overage. Because we had a party of 6 a 20% tip was added to our bill which we knew about in advance. I don't have an issue with mandatory gratuity but I feel that 20% is not appropriate. 15-17% is more common and that allows the customer to increase the tip if they so desire. I am a restaurant owner in another state. If this happened in my place people would have been fired. There is no reason for the kitchen to attempt to scam the customer with something different than they ordered. The server should have told us the filets were not available. The manager should have had the decency to come back to the table and address it with our group. I have generally had good food and great service here but tonight Salmon Falls you let me down, you are better than this. read more

Best meal I've ever had at a restaurant in Ketchikan. The shrimp tempura roll was excellent, local spot prawns and nicely presented. Salad was interesting and delicious. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Have the sorbet as an intermezzo and then the caramel cheesecake. Cocktails were not great, but the wine was alright. read more

Our waitress was rude. When we asked for a bar menu she snapped "I don't have 24 bar menus!" We asked for one. Every person who ordered burgers had hard, burnt, premade burgers. I had seafood chowder, it was good but smallest portion I've had at a restaurant for $11 and didn't come with crackers or bread. We asked for crackers, were told they didn't have any so we got a roll. When we tried to show the waitress the burnt, hard, burgers all she did was give us a look like "really!" and said ok and walked off. The manager came over and also was arrogant. He said the burgers were charbroiled so they were supposed to be burnt. We showed him the hard, inedible burger. He said he would come the burgers and only comped 1 burger out of like 6. They gave us free desserts. Locals get a 20% discount. Well everyone got the discount but us. I had to ask for it and the waitrsss insisted it was already discounted and finally realized I was correct. The highlight was the hostess, Kay Guyman. She was pleasant, got us the bar menu we asked for, and a kids menu. She was smiling and friendly to all the guests. She clearly knows how to treat guests. Unfortunately I will never eat therebagsin after this poor experience and the rude waitress, poor quality of food and small portions of food. read more

Do not, do not, and I mean do not ever go and eat at Timbers. We had one of the worst experiences there between our rude server (her name tag said she was from Scottsdale, AZ) and the horrible food. There was 20 of us there for a birthday dinner and we had reservations for 3-4 days so we were planning to spend some money on some drinks and dinners. Every burger that came to our table was burnt and almost in hockey puck status. It was obvious that the patties were Walmart frozen bagged patties. The bags that are $12 for 20 patties. My cousin was the only one who said his food was decent, he got a $40 steak. Our waitress had been rude, overally stern (she was obviously stressed) and cared not to give us quality service since you know, auto gratuity was included on our bills. $55 for just for two burgers, a Sprite and two draft beers and a horrible memory. Manager said he would comp our burgers but only comped 1 out of 6 lowsy burnt burgers. My first time there and last! read more
