Salmon with rice, slaw, and miso glaze
    Mary H.

We dined at Timbers after a half-day fishing charter, and we were very pleased with our meals. The ambiance and environment is top notch with an unbeatable view (many thanks to the ever-lovely Colleen for the waterfall table!). I utterly devoured the salmon entree--the slaw, rice and miso glaze paired so well. I thought when it came out I would've wanted more rice and slaw, but it ended up filling me up well as it was. My dad ordered the prime rib special (Saturdays online I believe), and he cleaned his plate. We shared the cookie sundae as recommended by our delightful waitress, and it did not disappoint when paired with coffee! Grateful for a great day fishing and a great meal to finish it off.

The food is excellent here and they have a nice menu. And the portions are hearty. All the employees work very hard to make sure you are happy and satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant. You will be happy with your food and the view is beautiful. Sit outside afterwards and have a drink and relax. You will like Timbers Restaurants.

We thought this place was SO good! I am only giving it a 4 star because everything was a bit overly sauced/salted. We each got something different (most of our crew has been here many times because they live in Ketchikan), and had great recommendations. The drinks were a bit sour according to the people who were drinking... not their favorite experience. But the food was great! We had the calamari (nothing special, also not loving it Italian style with the marinara- wouldn't recommend), buffalo wings (worth it- nothing crazy but not bad at all!), wedge salad (this was exceptional, however ask for dressing on the side as it was DRENCHED which really took away from the freshness of everything else), Halibut Fish and Chips (SOOOOO WORTH IT! HUGE PIECES OF FISH, NOT GREASY, LIGHTLY FRIED, SOOOOOO YUMMY!), Steak and Mac and Cheese (OK, the mac and cheese is wheres its at!), Prime Rib with Baked Potato (our group was mixed on this one...), Salmon Dinner (TO DIE FOR- JUST DO IT!), and Halibut Dinner (really good, not the best halibut I have ever had personally- a bit dry for me, but my hubs LOVED IT!) The mashed potatoes that come with these dinners is also excellent. My only suggestion again is just tone down the salt/sauce/seasoning. The chef clearly knows what he is doing, but it was just a bit heavy on the salt for everything for our liking. Next time I would like to try the desserts- they looked amazing! The atmosphere, service, view, and live one man band was killer! If you are in Ketchikan you have to come to the restaurant if you're not staying at the Lodge and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get the fish and chips, mac and cheese, or salmon dinner... you wont regret it!

Great menu with a ton of choices - 5 different steak options, 5 seafood options, 8 or 9 sides, delicious appetizers, nice wine list, great crafted drinks from the talented and friendly bartenders, superior service, amazing wilderness and water views. And the food was all delicious! Friday night was prime rib night and live entertainment. Salmon Falls Resort was an overall fantastic place, for great Alaska fishing, lodging fun, and rest, and the highlight is Timbers Restaurant.

Date of visit: July 19, 2025…read more We stopped at the restaurant here as part of a cruise excursion that took us around Ketchikan. This meal was a bit of a mixed bag, though more about presentation and delivery than about food. Our group was met outside by the food and beverage manager, who looked very proud of himself and his position. He welcomed us but then went into a lecture about how the seating will be arranged and not to get lost after the meal going to look at their waterfall because people have gotten lost in the past... The seating was a cluster. F&B Man started yelling out, "Do I have a party of 9?" If no takers, he then went down to the next number and so on until we got a winner and that's how we were seated. Now obviously I am not a professional seater or restaurant host, but given that this excursion was signed up for quite some time ago and the bus driver contacted the restaurant earlier in the day to advise of the number of kids meals and food allergy/sensitivity guests they would have, couldn't they also ask the driver to provide the number of guests and how many in each party? Our friend doesn't do seafood and he shared that with the bus driver. He was served a bacon cheeseburger; no inquiry about if he ate beef and/or pork, or how he would want it prepared... Thankfully he said it was great! At any rate, we all got seated like good little cattle and were served their Taste of Alaska; halibut with lemon, crab cake, salmon and some rice. I thought everything was quite good, though the salmon was a bit on the drier side. Dessert was a berry cobbler that was nothing to write home about--could have used some ice cream to pep it up a bit.

The restaurant is classy and looks exactly like an Alaskan lodge should look--with huge picture windows looking out onto the Tongas Narrows. The atmosphere is spot on. The menu seems extremely limited. We were there the first week in September so maybe they were cutting down the menu in view of the seasonal closing coming soon. I had a Ribeye which was $60+ and was kinda average. Very fatty, even for a ribeye. The sides (whipped potatoes and carrots) were good, but kind of skimpy. My wife wound up sending back her tomato soup which had some undercooked chickpeas. The good was good, but we were not wowed. Maybe it was just a bad night late in the season. I know that our local friends consider this to be one of the nicest restaurants in Ketchikan. I would try it again next year.

They have a big collection of old ship and shipwreck photos decorating the walls. I also saw what looked like an antique painting of gamblers in the Gold Rush period, as well as some old historical memorabilia. It was like walking into a different time period with all the décor and wood paneling. We had a choice of a beer or a cocktail. We chose the Sourdough Mule. Apparently, tequila and ginger pair well together. It was good, but I liked the Bear Skat shot the best. Who knew that Blueberry Vodka would make such a big difference in the flavor? My husband really liked the Butt Hole shot. I didn't get to try it, but he said it was pretty good. We didn't get to stay long. It was our last pub crawl stop. By that point, we were all a little buzzed before heading back to Ward Cove. Thankfully our tour operator was our designated driver. It was a great time spent in Downtown Ketchikan!
