The scenery is beautiful at just about every eating establishment in sun valley, and this place is no exception. I had their "slow food" special which was baby back ribs. The sauce was pretty bland but they were well cooked and the meat was decent quality. My mother in law had the shrimp pizza. The ingredients were fresh but the pizza dough was more like bread than and pizza dough. The Idaho trout was delicious and all of the sides we ordered were lovely. 5 stars for the delicious crab cakes made with rock shrimp- I've had a lot of crab cakes in my day and these were among the best 4 stars for my salmon entree (a special on tonight's menu) and the friendly waiter (Randy) 3 stars for my boyfriend's elk entree- a little rare for my taste 2 stars for the pecan fudge brownie- it would have been at least 4 stars if it weren't for the big piece of plastic (ew) we found when we got to the bottom of the brownie, but fortunately our waiter didn't charge us for this after we pointed it out. 1 star for the annoyingly loud atmosphere 0 stars for the extremely rude hostess, who could not have been more inconvenienced when we nicely asked her if we could have a table that wasn't next to the kitchen. She refused to move us and told us we were taking up her time. Overall, a 2 star experience...for a nice meal in Sun Valley/Ketchum I would suggest Globus or East Avenue Bistro. read more

We we're looking for a place to eat while visiting and we're able to get a table here without reservations. The food was Okay I gave this place two stars because the water was good (filtered) and we got seated right away. The service was not that good we never got served water without asking for it unlike other tables that were offered right away. Then we ordered appetizers (fresh baked bread). And it took forever! We also asked our server for some straws and had to remind her several minutes later that we were still waiting on our straws and water because the lemonade was so sweet and acidic it didn't taste made from scratch like the server has told me when I asked it taste like from concentrate especially since not a single pulp was in my glass. The pesto fettuccini was worse than than the one I make at home! And I'm a bad cook lol. The pasta did taste "al dente" so that's another reason I gave 2 stars. However my husbands dish was worse the wild rice had no salt or seasonings which made it very bland. After dinner no one picked up our plates and during no one offered refills (or another lemonade). Had high hopes for this local place and it was...fine. Ordered the steak, which wasn't a great cut of meat - way too much tendons going on. Over seared on the top made it difficult to cut. Also had the lamb shank - a massive piece of meat, but lacking flavor. The sauce on it was bland. Polenta wasn't great and steamed broccoli was bland - nothing special about it. Wait staff was kind and attentive. Our waitress didn't know much about wine and was unable to provide a recommendation to pair with the lamb. Dessert was alright - creme brûlée wasn't as thick as I would like it. They had an apple and cherry tart, which was on puff pastry rather that lacked flavor. Overall, not worth what you pay for the meal. Support the family and go to Enoteca instead. read more

Always my favorite place to come for dinner in SV. It is just such a cute spot-especially in the summer when you can dine on the patio. The lemon pasta is in my dreams nearly each week. We had an AMAZING time here the other night. I was definitely impressed and pleasantly surprised by the casual yet sophisticated atmosphere. We had a table for 7 and sat in one of the side rooms. It was like sitting in someone's house - very comfortable. Our waiter was VERY attentive and let us know the soon-to-be-gone specials so that he could claim for our table if we wanted. I LOVE THAT!!!! I snagged the pork chop special and it was DELICIOUS. The wine list is good with a variety of whites and reds in all price ranges. After we finished our bottle of zinfandel and moved on to the cabernet, the waiter placed new glasses for all of us. I LOVE THAT!!! The food was great unfortunately the wait staff was not. We've made this a reoccurring visit but the service has gotten progressively worse each year. Last night will be our last patronage of the Ketchum Grill. Our group's evening was completely soured by our waitress who made several unprofessional comments and another woman on the wait staff who openly sneered at our table throughout the evening and made audible comments to/about us including, "I thought they were getting ready to leave." Important to note that our waitress was not in the least bit accommodating nor savvy about hiding any displeasure she had in asking the kitchen to simply plate two entrees onto two plates. We paid for two entrees - we didn't ask to split one entree between us. Anyway, she didn't do it! She wanted us to divide the entrees at our overcrowded table. Since when does a kitchen staff "scream at that (kind of) request," or a waitress balk and return saying, "I just did it myself" as she hastily tosses the entrees on the table? Bizarre. Staff is sweet and attentive. Timely. Helped us find our way home after dealing with a difficult cab driver. Foodie type food, reminds me of Top Chef! I'm not a foodie with an elite palate but I really enjoyed trying out the Lemon noodles - flat fettucine infused with lemon - very creative! Came with extremely fresh caught tasting rock shrimp in bite size bits in a nice lemon pepper sauce. The creamy butternut soup was familiar and homey - nice on a cool night. I'm left underwhelmed with Ketchum Grill. I ordered a lamb shank togo and they sent me home with my food on an actual plate covered with foil. The presentation was not appealing at all, and was very messy. I had juice all over the place :| The actual lamb tasted pretty good, but had so much sauce on it that it took away from the lamb flavor. We don't have many fancy restaurants in Stanley, Idaho, our home after we moved away from sweet home California. Right away we got greeted politely and watched as two staff moved some tables close together to accommodate our rather huge and especially oversized party of 6. They did forget to bring us 6 menus. We got a wonderful shrimp cake appetizer. We were so impressed with the food, that we got dessert. I am so sad to be writing this review. KG has been one of my favs when I visit the area, but last nights dinner was just awful. Among the worst meals I've ever had. I was there for my Bday with two family members and their meals were also bad. My steak was tough and flavorless. His meatloaf was undercooked and her chicken was raw in places and sitting in a pool of water. The veggies were undercooked and we were all given stingy portions. The wine service was slow and the first wine we tried was bad as was the 2nd bottle they opened. I hope that this was a one off but I'm afraid I will think twice before going back. read more

Dinner with the in-laws last night was great. It was really crowded in this little restaurant and even though we were 1/2 hr early for our reservatoins, we couldn't be seated until the actual res. time because it was so busy. A good sign in a restuarant. Once we were seated, it was definitely cozy and felt a little like a sardine can but, it was worth it. The service was only a 3 - 3,5 but the food was definitely a 4 and the bill was very reasonable. At first glance, the menu is pretty limited but then there is the daily special board inside which has almost as much on it as the menu. We started with the mussles for the table, very nice and the bread was really good too. Next was the entrees, we dined on the halibut, the lamb shank, the ravioli and the slow cooked special of the day. The halibut was good but it came with a pureed carrot which my mother-in-law liked to babyfood....with a slightly for intricate flavour :-p. The ravioli was also good and the slow cooked special was a lamb top round that was tasty. The best meal however, was the lamb shank, braised in a tomato sauce this was sooooo tender if fell of the bone..........mmmmmm Dessert was just okay, in my opinion, we had some creamsicle icecream, the flavours are interesting at least, the mousse in a dark chocolate shell, and the inside out german mousse cake. If I come back, I might just stick with one of the home made sorbets after such a heavy meal. read more

This place is a little high end for my liking. They always have some decent options, but for the price I think one can do much better in Ketchum. The Pio comes to mind! On my last visit I had the gazpacho which was just ok. The cilantro was pretty heavy in it. For the main course I had a steak which did not really wow me. Nothing was wrong with it, but it did not really stand out to me either. They make ice cream in house and it is legit. The salted caramel was truly inspiring. This may sounds weird, but the bread the serve as an appetizer is great. I do not eat bread, but everyone else at the table raved about it and asked for thirds. read more

Sunvalley is amazing in so many ways but the food is at the top of the list. My favorite place for a nice dinner is the Ketchum Grill. Everything is always so delicious and unique. The service is great and the ambiance is fun too! The patio is my favorite but eating inside is just as nice. The meatloaf is my favorite dish. It is the best meatloaf I have ever tasted. It is so flavorful and juicy . The Chicken Thigh Penne is at the top as well. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. While our server was a sweet gal, she obviously was not familiar with the wine list or menu. It was difficult to accomplish ordering. Meals did not come as requested, i.e. mushrooms on side. The chicken was delicious on the spinach salad, but the greens were drenched in dressing. We were disappointed that the only beef steak available was a shoulder cut. Having never been to Ketchum's restaurants, my friend and I chose Ketchum Grill because of the richness of the menu, as well as the selection of wines. We quickly made reservations. When we entered, we noticed it was a busy, but were promptly greeted. Within a minute or two, we were taken to our table. The wait staff was friendly and provided help with our wine selection. We ordered soup, which we found they had to switch the daily soup as they had ran out. We were still very pleased with the soup. The wine that was recommended to us based on our entree selection was wonderful; the staff seemed knowledgable about the wines on hand. I ordered the Lamb shank, and was not very pleased about it. The flavor of the sauce did not pair well with lamb. The vegetables had been sitting a while being warmed, as they weren't crisp, as if they had just been sautéed. The polenta was not a consistent texture, and there was more of a thick crust than a crispy exterior. The dessert was, however, much better. I was decently pleased with the creme brûlée and Mango Cardamom sorbet. I may return, based on the service and wine selection (and of course dessert!) read more

Went to Ketchum Grill this past weekend thinking that we would have a delightful meal. We were approached by an unenthused/unfriendly waiter who informed us that mixed drinks were not available and only could order beer or wine. I opted for water and continued to order the lasagna for dinner. Five minutes later, a possible the manager who lacked customer service skills, approached the table and informed us that we would not be able to order the lasagna because it wouldn't be ready in time. She didn't offer us anything else or make any suggestions and could care less about the situation. I looked at the time, which was 7:30, and around the restaurant and noticed people were still being seated. Baffled and disgusted by the staffs behavior we left and went to another establishment. My advise, give this one a miss. read more
