    Artichoke App
    David M.

Great local decor with a lot of local, Native American and hunting items strewn about the interior with an old log cabin vibe and bar. Sat in the bar so we could watch the Sunday games. Waitress was great. Made suggestions when asked and was attentive. Artichoke app was just ok. The butter and dipping sauce were bland. Artichoke was cooked well and had enough meat. Chips and salsa on the table is complimentary. Kind of out of place but a nice touch for bar snacks. Cocktails were very acidic. Switched to simple mixed drinks instead. Filet was cooked perfectly and was good quality. Choice of steak sauces were all good and worth trying. Comes with rice pilaf and grilled asparagus which were very good. Prime rib was also good and the baked potato was huge (as it should be in Idaho) :-)

Since 1972 serving the best of Idaho. The Pioneer Saloon is just the coolest in our town. Great bar to hang and enjoy a meal or in the dining room. People are friendly. Good is delicious and tasty. The drinks are fabulous and well made... it's Ketchum!!!!

We came here on our 1st night visiting Sun Valley. This was a recommended place to visit and it was a place to go for our group celebrating my brother in law's Birthday. The place is cute and it was sooo crowded, but we didn't wait too long before we got seated. Food is delicious and great staff, would recommend when visiting Sun Valley.

Super cute place. Amazing history and fantastic margaritas! We very much enjoyed the roast beef! No reservations. Plan accordingly.

Pioneer Saloon is such a cool spot. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit -- packed with antiques everywhere, even pieces tied to Hemingway. It feels historic and cozy at the same time. We went around 3, and just a heads up: dinner starts at 4 (even though they open at 3), so don't ask for the dinner menu too early like we did Between 3-4 they have appetizers, and we tried the salmon and bread -- totally new to me and I loved it. For dinner, the baked potato with steak pieces was excellent. So hearty and flavorful. They even offered us a free pork chop, which was such a nice surprise. We finished with the mud pie -- absolutely delicious, but honestly way too much after everything else. Come hungry! Great food, great vibe, and such a unique place. Definitely recommend.

Had an outstanding time at Pioneer Saloon with the family! The decor is super unique and fun, very fitting of its name. We demolished our food and drinks so you can't go wrong with anything on the menu since it's all delicious Huge shout out to our server Kelson, who was truly our eye in the hurricane on a busy night. She took such good care of us and we can't thank her enough

    Top sirloin and baked potato

The blue cheese salad was by far the best thing that I had. Tiffany was an excellent server and really took care of us. The salad had so much yummy dressing and I loved the sliced carrots. I got the top sirloin and a baked potato. The baked potatoes is a little dry on the outside. The tops sirloin was cooked, medium rare and was really tasty. I'm not a huge Stake guy, but I love the portion size. Not too much. The inside is really fun with a lot of taxidermy animals and a large old, wild West posters, and memorabilia. I like the mission of this restaurant that it tries to reflect an old Idaho in the wild wild West. Our complaint is the scheduling and seating. We went early, got our names on the list and were told an hour 30. We came back after then we were told 20 to 25 minutes, and then we came back again and then we were told 15. Seems like there needs to be a better structure in place.

Another great visit here as Pioneer Saloon! Perfectly cooked NY strip and sirloin. Did I mention their bread is amazing?! Our waiter was so nice and just a ball of energy! We love it here!

Prime rib 1/2 slab w/ loaded baked potatoe.

Prime rib 1/2 cut was the best I've ever eaten. Bread was standard. Loaded potatoes is what you'd expect. Service was great. Atmosphere was amazing. This is a spot for men. Great taxidermy (must see the trophy room downstairs). Great selection at the bar.

Ribeye with baked potato. Order one step rarer than you normally go as they like to cook their meat.

Very cool atmosphere with a friendly crowd. Prices were very reasonable as well. Lots of cool history so walk around and take it all in. Steaks are good but order one level rarer than you normally go.

Paulo was an outstanding server. He was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely attentive throughout our experience. His knowledge and quick thinking really stood out..he was efficient on his feet and anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Paulo's service elevated the entire experience, and he truly deserves recognition for his excellence. I hope that his team and his superiors realize what a gem you have working the floor with you

Ask the Community - Pioneer Saloon

What are there gluten free options?

I'm assuming that they don't take reservations?

Correct. No reservations. If you come at 5 or 5:30 you should be good. Try to sit upstairs. The downstairs is dungeon-like. Have the mud pie and Jim spud!

Is this restaurant kid friendly? Like one year old and three year old?

Kids are allowed but there's no kids menu. They can make a grilled cheese sandwich and have carrots with ranch dressing. My kids have been going there since they were that age. :)

Gotta try the pork chop or the Bavette Wagyu!…read more The lamb pasta is pretty delicious. I meant to take photos but we devoured it all

We had a shocking experience at The Covey on Valentine's Day…read more We made a reservation for 8 well in advance. The day of, they called to say they could only seat 6 and would not offer any alternative, including splitting into two tables of 4. When we said we would rather cancel to stay together as a group, we were told we would be charged $100 per person if we did not show. We came in before our reservation to try to resolve it in person and spoke with both the manager and the owner, Jesse. Instead of working toward a solution, we were met with a dismissive and hostile tone and again threatened with the $100 per person charge. At our reservation time, 6 of us showed as requested. We were then told they had given our table away because they assumed "we wouldn't have a good time and would leave a one-star review." They would not confirm whether we would still be charged. When my husband and I calmly asked for a written note confirming their system only showed a reservation for 6 so we could take it up with Resy if needed, the manager yelled at us in front of the entire restaurant, demanded we leave, and threatened to call the police. Whether this was a Resy issue or an internal mistake, the way we were treated was unacceptable. We ended up at Enoteca instead and had a wonderful meal with warm, gracious service. A much better choice.
