Waiting Staff is really good and helpful. But the place is so crowded (there was a wedding dinner at the patio) so everything was rush and frantic. My curry soup was served at room temperature (tasted gross) and lamb shanks was only so-so (almost one lb of it). The wife had lemon noodles with rock shrimps, but shrimps were tiny and noodle sauce tasted extremely rich. My kid's butter noodles from the kids menu were extremely delicious, and she loved it. read more

Went to Ketchum Grill this past weekend thinking that we would have a delightful meal. We were approached by an unenthused/unfriendly waiter who informed us that mixed drinks were not available and only could order beer or wine. I opted for water and continued to order the lasagna for dinner. Five minutes later, a possible the manager who lacked customer service skills, approached the table and informed us that we would not be able to order the lasagna because it wouldn't be ready in time. She didn't offer us anything else or make any suggestions and could care less about the situation. I looked at the time, which was 7:30, and around the restaurant and noticed people were still being seated. Baffled and disgusted by the staffs behavior we left and went to another establishment. Ketchum Grill is a decent local favorite. Not my favorite place in the valley, but it's enjoyable enough. The best part about it is the outdoor seating area, I guess in the summer. It's sad, too many good new places up here are short lived, and it seems like the local stand by's are able to carry on long term. All the food was decent enough not extraordinary. Service was pleasant but at times painfully slow, especially at the end of the meal. Wine only, no bar. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, but I won't be in a rush. read more

The truth is: i could eat here 7 nights a week. Simplistic yet sophisticated. Casual but worthy of a special night out. Exceptional wine list but the food is bar none the best in Ketchum. We have been going to Ketchum Grill on and off for 20 years. It has steadily declined in the past 5 years to the point that we will remove it from our list of regular spots for dining in Ketchum. We went again last night and were eventually greeted with a cool and dismissive attitude. "Cool" kind of summed up the rest of the evening. We were seated at a drafty cold table by a window and actually had to use the menus to block the assault of cold air. Our waiter was distracted and inattentive. I had to raise my hand several times to get his attention. There were four of us and each entree was cold upon reaching the table. My NY Steak was so tough, the poor steer must have walked from NY to ID. The evening was topped off by the loss of my credit card which further delayed our much desired departure. It's quite a disappointment as we live only a few blocks away and would return frequently if they ever got their act together. read more

My wife and I were here for dinner last weekend just before we attended the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. We were the first ones in the restaurant at 5 pm and the first ones seated. Yet we had to wait about an hour for our food and it really wasn't that busy. There were two families who received their food way before we did, even though they walked in after we did. When we finally received our meals I asked for to go boxes so that we wouldn't be late for the symphony, and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy. Super disappointing. My wife and I visited and we sat so close to the only other table occupied that the waiter literally had to turn sideways to squeeze between them. The other table was 3 very loud women have a good time but we were trying to have a romantic night out. I had a lamb shank and my wife home made lemon pasta. After ordering, the food literally came out in 5-10 min. It was so surprising the waiter even commented. So fast it couldn't have been cooked fresh in that time and tasted accordingly. read more

We had visited Ketchum Grill on a few occasions and quite enjoyed the food. We knew it was a Sun Valley institution and that was one of the reasons for booking our rehearsal dinner. Our reservation was made a month earlier but ignored and a room was given to another party. We would have tolerated the mess-up, these things happen after all, but the manager's insistence that our phone was not working and that the other party had reserved earlier was offensive to anyone remotely intelligent. We had a large party and required a wheelchair access (which had been noted when the reservation was made) and we could only be seated outside. It was cold and miserable. Several orders were messed up, the service was below standard. There is a number of excellent restaurants in Sun Valley, with outstanding food and service. We have no reason to ever go back to Ketchum Grill. read more

Our server was great and the somm was very nice as well. however, our meals were very underwhelming. We had the following: Chicken - overcooked and bland; Blacked Mahi Mahi - overcooked and bland with a cloying chutney; duck - cooked well, but flavorless. The fourth entrée was pasta which was very solid. Our appetizers and salads were either overdressed in the case of the salads or over-cooked in the case of the prosciutto wrapped prawns. The Ketchum grill was once a must on our annual trip to SV, not anymore. Compared to other venues the KG menu is unimaginative and the flavors are lack luster. We had the seared Ahi tuna, salmon special, burger and the standby meatloaf. The Tuna was really ho hum saved only by the fresh salsa served with it. The accompanying bamboo rice was overly salty. The Meat loaf was over cooked and sent back. The salmon was also over done and lacked flavor. The hamburger was the only saving with it's fresh cooked bun. Oh, I almost forgot the shrimp cake appetizer. This was very good and looking at past reviews has been consistently good. I believe most great restaurants reach a time when they are to popular, trying to do to much and what made the restaurant great at one time is lost. Unfortunately this has happened to the Ketchum Grill. Hopefully the KG can rediscover what once made it great. read more

Grab a table of the patio for an end of summer treat. Caprice salad was generous in portion with a nice balsamic reduction and vine ripened tomatoes. Our entrees included the trout special (its Idaho) - very well cooked and bone free, and likely the best meatloaf (its Idaho) I've ever tasted. Nicely portioned and cooked fresh veggies and potato (Idaho again) come along with the entree. The sugar crust over the creme brûlée was a bit too much for my taste - hard to break through and left the otherwise wonderfully smooth dessert too crunchy. Service was superb. read more

We have been coming with friends to Sun Valley for many years and have always tried to make it to the the Ketchum Grill. Sadly, this will be our last time. Though we enjoyed the food the negative feeling from the waitstaff over shadowed our whole evening. From the moment we walked through the door we were treated as if we were an inconvenience. We were met with sour faces, eye rolls and even an audible, rude comment was made in our direction. Extremely unprofessional and unfortunately ruined our experience. Disappointed. This place has amazing food and great ambiance. Unfortunately their hospitality/customer service leaves much to be desired. Our server started out fine, but became irritated when we made the simple request to divide two entrees between two of us. Apparently the food wouldn't have "looked pretty" and therefore she didn't want to do it. When we politely asked again, she did it begrudgingly and stated "I hope you don't hear screams from the kitchen" as she walked away from the table. What is the big deal about splitting two entrées between 2 people? Restaurants do it all the time. This along with subsequent rude comments we overheard her make to another staff person in a plaid shirt about our table and sneers from said plaid shirted employee was enough to put a damper on the meal. Best dinner in Sun Valley - prosciutto wrapped prawns were perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. Meatloaf contained no fillers and was beefy, brothy and had poached garlic cloves on top that perfected the dish, served with Chinese earthy roasted broccoli and brussels sprouts and carrots - again perfectly cooked. Sprouts were crispy on the outside and al dente on the inside. Mashed potatoes were creamy and fluffy and rested nicely on the fork. Pork sugo had a very generous portion, fresh pappardelle, and a luscious sauce without being runny. The lamb was fall off the bone tender - very young. Enjoyed a crisp and clean sav blanc followed by a terrific pinot that was made for the meatloaf, lamb and pork. Staff were friendly - there when you needed them and unobtrusive. Ketchum Grill has been one of our favorites for years (we are locals) but we avoid it during the busy seasons due to the noise level that can get way over the top. As this time of year the traffic is light, we had an excellent dinner - exceptional pasta (rock shrimp in a terrific lemon sauce) and a very good Pinot Grigio that was new to us, reasonably priced. Service was excellent as it generally is. We have always loved the Grill but hate the noise so if noise level is an issue, stay away during peak season. If noise is not an issue, you can count on very good food and wine as well as very good service read more

My expectations were high; cute little setting, nice outdoor patio, plus everything on the menu looked delicious. I ordered a "slow food" item, stuffed pork loin, with a butternut squash side dish. The description of the pork sounded very good indeed, but the reality was rather leathery. Didn't fit my idea of "slow cooked" at all. And, the baby potatoes were clearly not cooked long enough; again, not my idea of slow cooking. Absolutely delicious with excellent service. We shared the oysters appetizer which were served in a delicious red sauce. I had the salmon Special which was grilled and seasoned perfectly. One of our friends had the lamb shank which was also delicious. And the last friend had meatloaf which has no panko or bread filler. Reservations are a must. It's an old building so you'll be disappointed if you're looking for cold, sterile, quiet, glass and chrome. This feels like grandma's old cabin with friendly people and great cooking. Let me begin by admitting that I'm biased. We had our wedding reception here on 7-7-07 and everything was absolute perfection! It was all inclusive and extremely reasonably priced and I highly recommend it for anyone considering a Sun Valley wedding. Before and since then, we have made it a habit of going out to dinner here every time we're in town. The service is always great, but in a casual way. And the food is always flavorful and fun; from the grass fed meatloaf, to the exotic mushroom raviolis and the duck with huckleberries. The ambience is distinctly Sun Valley, a cottage built in Ketchum in 1885 with a covered patio and a bathroom where you just might run into Carol King or another celebrity local. Wine selection is great and decor is vintage Sun Valley (travel posters, black and white skiing starlet photos, canoes, snow shoes etc. The same staff is there, summer after summer, so they must treat them well and everyone clearly has good reason to keep returning. Rumor has it they have the best burger in town and lest I forget to mention the complimentary homemade bread and butter basket. I could go on and on...just go!! read more

So disappointed! This has been one of our favorite restaurants over the years but this time it had no flavor. We had a delightful table outside. Our waiter was attentive and nice. The bread was delicious. I had a gazpacho that had no flavor and seemed like it came out of a can except for some fresh cucumbers. We had a Caesar salad with fresh heirloom tomatoes. We had to ask for more dressing. There were 3 small bites of heirloom tomatoes. I had duck with a huckleberry sauce. It wasn't bad, it just didn't have any flavor. The zucchini side had no seasoning. The wild rice was just barely cooked. My husband had pasta with quail. Again, nothing terribly wrong except it didn't have any seasoning. We could have done better at home. I'm a foodie from Portland, OR who just moved to Boise. My husband and I have been searching for a cool spot with a small seasonal menu...options are limited in Boise, to say the least. While traveling this weekend, we stopped at the Ketchum Grill after reading the menu online. I had a feeling I was going to like this place...and we did. Just exactly what I'd been looking for! Fresh, seasonal ingredients prepared with care and respect for flavor. Portions are just right-not gaudy or heavy handed. I had the hand made lemon pasta with rock shrimp (yum!!!) and my husband had the burger. Both were delicious. Don't even get me started on the fresh baked bread! Amazing food and friendly, attentive staff. Meatloaf (grass fed beef) served with tasty red sauce and veggies. But real treat was the grilled king salmon. Grilled with a bit of heat, almost like a rub. The lite butter sauce has garlic and dill. Probably the best fish of any sort I've had anywhere. Usually the food is great and the service is good, but this past week we had the worst meal and service. The server was new and overwhelmed and didn't get our order correct. Two of the six meals were wrong. One order was supposed to be a plain hamburger and she only brought a meat patty.
