We were hopeful for a good experience with Kevin but unfortunately were very disappointed. Our dog was completed shaved when asked for her not to be. She has been groomed many times before and this has never happened. Her face was cut terribly as well and it seems there was not attempt at lining anything up. The job was done quickly and the shave was even completely uneven. We went back to ask for some things to be fixed and he didn't see anything wrong with her cut. When I became emotional, he began laughing at me. He also didn't believe me when I said she has been groomed multiple times before and accused us of lying. read more

We finally found a great groomer in Denver! Kevin was super friendly and our pup warmed up to him right away. He gave our Wheaton terrier a great cut at a reasonable price. In the past we've have awful groomers completely shave the poor pup :( So we were very happy to see her with nice clean, fluffy fur! We will definitely be back to see Kevin again. Grooming is one of those jobs that I could never ever do. Alongside being a tollbooth collector or recycling sorter. How do they do it, I always wondered, and now I think I know. They smoke a LOT of pot. Which explains Kevin and Friends waiting area. Random dog products littered throughout the small space illuminated by a teeny tiny staticky TV screen. Hungry? You're in business because they have a basket with candy and a tin can asking that you leave $.85 for each item you take. Fake plants, dust, and an intense wet dog smell. Kevin has a booming friendly voice and always seems genuinely excited to see they dogs as they quiver with anticipation. I wish I could do it justice with my review, but I simply can't write that well, you just have to see it yourself. Anyway, he does a good job, always listens to what I want, gives the dogs treats and or a bandanna with each visit and is much more affordable than the others. I only wish the dogs weren't caged in between groomings. And if you do go, bring a bright leash. Wow, pricing definitely less than other places I've been for much better work. Today was the second time we have taken both our dogs in; they look and smell beautiful. We have a border collie with that long scraggly back leg/butt hair and a lab/rottie mix and both of them couldn't look better. The border collie had a nice, even trim on the backside and tail. They seem to be able to trim the dog's nails much shorter than I would ever successfully be able to do. It's definitely not a fancy doggie-spa type of place but whose dog cares? I've been to a couple of those places and they do about 70% as good a job for 10-15 bucks more per dog. Kevin and friends gets five paws. read more

I have been using Kevin for about 8yrs now, followed him in 3 places! I have gone to the fancy foo foo places, and even PetSmart, Kevin is always the best. Not only is he super friendly (as well as his staff) but he is not a rip off like many other places. He really does a super job- having a Yorkie, Peek-a-Poo and now a soft coated wheaten (who needs major TLC) Kevin never fails to leave them perfectly groomed- unmatted and again at a price that you can afford. How he is able to handle these dogs and still smile is beyond me- i would be lost without them!! p.s i have to literally drag my dogs out of there to leave that's how much they like it there! read more

I think I'm changing groomers. This guy Kevin was voted best groomer in Denver and came highly recommended when we moved here in May of 2010. I've had my dog there 3 times. 1st time he did a great job, 2nd time was mediocre but okay, then today it looks like he gave a kid the scissors and put him to work on the head & ears: all uneven, frizzy, split ends, tufts sticking out of one ear and not the other...poor doggie looks like a poster child for "How quickly can I get this mutt's haircut done?" read more

Called to simply ask if my cat could be groomed- he asked if my cat had ever been groomed before and I said no, not professionally. He said "okay well I don't do cats!, you need to take it somewhere where they give them sedatives" To which I responded that his website indicates he does "do cats". He rudely said "UH YEA- If they've been groomed before". I have An exotic shorthair Persian- they've never been sedated for anything as they are not at all aggressive. My vet doesn't even have to give him sedatives for certain services, as they would other breeds of cats. Had he not been rude from the moment he answered the phone, I probably could have had a chance to explain that. Instead I had To hang up because he just kept scolding me on how he "doesn't do cats". Not sure if he was having a bad day but geez..listening to a potential client and not being rude would be beneficial. So new clients, especially those who have cats, beware. read more

Do not take your dogs to Kevin and Friends! The shop smelled bad and the grooming area didn't look sanitary. That should have been my cue to walk out. My Yorkie/poodle and Havanese were butchered, their nails weren't trimmed and they weren't even bathed thoroughly. I asked Kevin to trim my Havenese's tail and he didn't. When I asked why, he said, "I think he's rockin' that look." I would have gone back when I realized that they weren't clean and their nails weren't trimmed but was not about to let him touch them again. I'm surprised there are so many good reviews for this place. If you want quality grooming at a good price, go to Handsome Hounds on Pearl and Ohio. read more

I recently adopted a 10 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He HATES getting his nails clipped. I have been trying to do it myself for over a month with no real luck. I brought Gerry in and I told him that he hates it. Kevin asked if he needed a muzzle... I had already brought one. Kevin was so calm about cutting his nails. When he went to clip is second paw, Gerry FREAKED OUT. And Kevin simply said, "I'm not afraid of you." and continued clipping and Gerry was fine. Today I went to get him trimmed up as normal as were taking engagement photos on Sunday. WHEN I PICKED UP SKIPPY UP HE WAS COMPLETELY SHAVED, HIS 4-5 INCHES OF LUSCIOUS HAIR WAS GONE.. He looks so bad that we are going to leave him out the majority of the upcoming photo shoot. There were chunks taken out of his fur and one ear had an extra inch of hair when compared to the other one. I almost cried that my buddy looks so bad. Kevin offered the grooming for free but the real cost is not having him look good in these once in a lifetime photos.. We had taken Skippy to Kevin on 4 occasions and had fabulous results- Now I will never return or recommend him again. read more

Just home from our first visit. I have a small rescue who has been somewhat skittish with the entire grooming process, in particular anything with her head or paws. This would leave her partially clipped no matter what. I picked up the happiest pup, fresh as a daisy and clipped just as I had asked. Turns out Kevin worked many years at the groomer I used in 1990s into 2003, when I had my last dog. When looking former groomer up, I found he had retired.
