This hundred-year-old course is breathtakingly beautiful and it'll test your game too. All the trees can make your life miserable out there. Mark and I both had our share of disappointing shots but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our day. The course was in great condition as usual. We both shot 86s. Regardless, the place was kept clean and dinner was great. I had dinner with colleagues by invitation from a company. Food was great, steak was cooked well, the only dish I didn't like was the dessert. I think it was a sorbet? It was hard when we tried to have a scoop, we weren't able to finish it.

It was lovely to be one of the only few people in the museum. They always have great bakersfield and kern county focused exhibits. This time we saw bakersfield standards exhibit which was such a lovely look at all the things that make the valley and its history and culture unique. It made me proud to be a valley girl.

My 21 mile out was met by a few banks of heavy fog and lots of workers headed west towards Taft and the oil fields. It was cool and crisp at 8:00 am when we checked in, $40 for 18 is still a deal. The pro shop didn't really have much merchandise at all which concerned me. The gentleman who checked us in was pleasant. We putted for about 10 minutes before we were up at 8:30. I noticed the driving range, it looked terrible. There were few early strong willed groups out in front of us. This course is classic with the all the different elevations and different terrains. The greens are in good shape, large and tricky, they challenge your game, most all break towards Taft that hasn't changed. The tee boxes weren't too bad, sand traps were all in poor condition, fairways were the same, shaggy and tough with many gopher and squirrels holes. Numerous trees on the course were in need of attention broken and down limbs some require removal. Cart paths are also in need of repairs. This beautiful course is in rough condition. I heard rumors that were mainly because of high water rates that have escalated to the breaking point for management. This used to be a Kern County gem, a fine place to play a round of golf or hold a tournament. Snack bar was always busy great lunches. Why can't the County or the City of Taft partner together drill a well or help with the serious problem out here? We (County) spend money for many causes and fund numerous questionable programs let's save a this classic venue before its too late. Our round of golf today was sad because of the conditions, but always enjoyable due the fantastic views of surrounding mountains and extensive farm lands definitely post card worthy

I think the most important part of my year, is arguing about the Lake water. I tend to make sure it's brought up around the dinner table during Thanksgiving and Christmas, if I feel like we aren't debating the lake Buena Vista water quality enough, the lake water is always top of mind in my house hence why I married an ecologist. Also, I really enjoy totems. So much so, I've made an LED Parasol totem that gives off random light commands since I never took the time to learn how to truly code while working in Trad. Fi. All in, I rate Lightning in a Bottle 13/5. Lucky 13 for the amount of times me and my friends had to troubleshoot my RV or Trailer rental, and that has allowed me to successfully escape the dust and eventually drive home on the 5 (what up Moo Moos on the road, respect). My favorite stage remains Woogie, that's why I named my dog(s) Woo and Gie, with their powers combined they arf arf arf into the night as one dog, in unison like the biggest baddest dog named Al Capone. Last, it's imperative that we all spend ample time in a Porto by the end of the trip, for it was Seneca that said setting aside a few days to wear rough clothing, eat meager food, and ask oneself: "Is this the condition that I feared?"

Not like other music festivals where people are over the top and on their phones the whole time. I made so many friends and will definitely be returning next year! It's a small, quaint building for a performing arts theater. Upon arrival, we were greeted in a friendly manner and I was excited to see I could purchase tickets at the door, since it wasn't the main Stars Restaurant and Theater. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the outdoor lighting wasnt very good and had I not been 100% sure that the showing was at this location I would have drove away and gone all the way downtown to their main location. Additionally, I am three weeks post op and there really wasnt parking and I arrived at 7 and had to walk quite a distance to get where I needed to go.

Attended the Bakersfield Christmas parade for the first time this year because my daughters group…read more"Good News Club" of Cesar Chavez Elementary has a float entry, which also won 1st place!! Woohooo!!! Like every parade in town, you have to hustle early to be able to get a good spot. We tag teamed with my friend and her family so we were able to get a "by the curb spot" at least an hour and 1/2 before the parade started. Since that was the arrival time for my kid to be with her group, it did not bother us. There were over 100+ entries this year so it took them atleast two (+|-) hours to do the parade. (We has to leave as soon as my daughters float went full circle). Plenty of food and toy vendors during the parade. It was really fun to watch and see everybody enjoying both participants and viewers. I'm so glad we get to experience this event. Hoping to make it next year.

This is therapy for me of the best kind. I grew up in a creative home and lost that spark for a few years but she has reignited that for me. I only knew a couple of the ladies and was a bit nervous, excited, and looking forward to the immersive experience leading up to the event. Our host, Emily, not only made us feel welcome with her big smile kind nature, but encouraged us, and put us at ease so we could open up and share deeply personal experiences with one another. We created created fun artwork, swapped stories around the campfire, set goals, and released baggage. This was truly an incredible experience and I look forward to joining another TPS retreat in the future! If you're considering one of Emily's retreats DO IT! You will emerge feeling more creative, rejuvenated, and filled with love and good vibes!
