Have you been down to the Santa Maria Speedway recently? If you haven't, you need to go! She's had some work done thanks to the new owners. First the parking has improved, it's still dirt field but they've added parking attendants who guide the flow in and out. Is it still a race to get out of the lot, yes. The atmosphere has changed that's for sure, it's giving positive energy. Literally every employee is smiling, asks if they can help you with anything. Not sure if security was as vigilant but they definitely are now. The visual transformation from ran down paint chipped buildings, crooked fences, old moldy smelly washrooms and the dilapidated stadium seating. Well all that has changed including the new VIP area with propane fire pits. The woman's washroom is sporting new paint, tiles, countertop with black frame mirrors new stalls, toilets and some fancy sinks. Some of the stalls are a bit snug, that's not a big deal. New black metal patio arm chair seating just off both sides of the newly painted black & white checkered stadium seats. read more

3 older adults went last Saturday night and loved it! It's a great environment for families and friends of all ages. It reopened under new ownership after having been closed for a long time and more people need to know about it. We used the handicapped parking near the uphill walkway to the seating area. A super nice lady named Sabina, took us up and back in a golf cart. We tried a hamburger, cheeseburger and tri tip steak sandwich from the two food booths and all were good, served by nice young people who were very helpful and friendly. There are metal chairs at the top of the seating area for easy handicapped access, as well as bleacher seating. Take a jacket and a blanket or cushion to sit on for more comfort and warmth. Ear plugs would be nice to have, especially for kids, as some of the races are really loud. read more

Came here for the Ron Otto memorial race, what a great show this track puts on! They really keep things moving very little down time in between. For for $40 my boyfriend and I got to spend 7 hours watching different classes of racing and got a tasty root beer float. They have food too that looked pretty good. Parking was free, make sure to bring something comfortable to sit on though! read more

You will love it if you're a racing fan like me. Parking is $2.00 and it's a dirt road. You will be there for more than 5 hours so bring comfortable seating. The labor event was good. Audience has their favorites and they are respectable of other people and to the show. There are souvenir programs on sales for $3.00 and shirts as cheap as $10.00. Their sweatshirts are $35.00 worth it of you like that kind of thing. The announcer was very knowledgeable and pleasant. They have raffles for 6 pcs for $5.00 and you win a case price. They give away stuff during intermission like gages and shirts from sponsors. We will come again. Very pleasant experience. read more

Tons of fun!!!! Make sure you look at their web site to see what kids of cars are running, but it was a blast!!!! Staff was very friendly!! At first I thought a $16 ticket price would be too much, but afterwards I realized I was just entertained for 4 hours (more if we got there on time or if you go earlier for qualifying races and go through the pits)....so $4 an hour wasn't bad. When movies already cost $10 and it only lasts an hour and a half sometimes. Anyways, do make sure you bring sweatshirts and some warm clothes because it can get very cool once the sun goes down. Beer prices seemed to be on par with other sporting events. I payed $9 for a 32 oz. Firestone, which is almost three beers in bottles. You make the call if that is too expensive for beer. All in all a great night of entertainment. Kids tickets were $6, under 5 are free, so it seems like a great place for families as well. read more

I took my family to family night. I have to say it was one of the worst experience I have had a the track. The web site race would sta at 6pm, that didn't happen approximately 730 it did start. The driver were not happy with the track prep was horrible. The food booth was unorganized and I could have driven home made a meal come back to the track and would not have missed a thing 45 min to an hour in line. I left the track at 1030 and they still had 2 races to run and by this time alot of fan/family had gone home. Not much of a family fun night. If this is going to be the norm this track will not be open for business. I go to the race for a good time with my family I left frustrated and thinking It would be better to drive 2 hours to Bakersfield. read more
