From the very beginning, his romantic, natural candid style impressed me so much that his sample photos stood out among the 50+ photographer websites I looked through. When we spoke for the first time, even on very short notice, he was super polite, professional, good-natured, very reasonable w our budget, and willing to do extra research into additional sites in the area. Kevin was absolutely amazing to work with! From the moment we met him, all the way through the best night of our lives. Even now, as we finalize our wedding album, his attention to detail, responsiveness and genuine love for what he does makes working with him a true pleasure. He really goes above and beyond. To give a small example of how he does this: every bag, box or document we received from him with information, photos, USB drives etc. was decorated with our initials hand stamped on them. He truly makes you feel special! While Kevin has done a lot of his work predominantly in CT, he made the extra effort to meet us a couple of hours from home at Mohonk Mountain House in upstate NY for our engagement photo shoot. Kevin had never done photography here but what was amazing was his eye for great photo opportunities. We got along so well with Kevin, that he even stayed for a while afterward to have a drink with us; he felt like a close friend we had known for years. Come the big day, Kevin and his assistant Mike were on top of everything; from getting-ready photos, to the first look, to family photos, the ceremony, the reception, and everything in between. My fiance and I are getting married out of state but wanted a local Connecticut photographer to take our engagement pictures in the Milford area where we got engaged. I first met Kevin as a guest and bridesmaid at two weddings. As a guest, I appreciated that he was unobtrusive and just blended into the festivities. As a bridesmaid, he immediately made me feel at ease with very natural poses and his friendly nature (he is the most easy-going perfectionist I have ever met!). When it was my turn to begin wedding planning, my fiance and I met with Kevin and another photographer company to compare personalities/photography packages. Kevin blew us away! He was responsive from the start, and always returned emails/text messages within 24 hours. During our first meeting, I couldn't believe that Kevin showed up with a personalized gift bag that the first initials of my name and my fiance's name. It included a very reader-friendly breakdown of prices and contact info. Kevin also remembered that I was interested in taking pictures with a Rolls Royce, and took the initiative of bringing some of his shots of another bride and groom with a Rolls to give us an idea of how that could look. Kevin worked with us to get a package that met our needs without blowing our budget, which we really appreciated. We had great communication with Kevin leading up to the wedding, including one conference call to nail down all the details for the big day. Kevin was like a breath of fresh air on my wedding day - he arrived all smiles and it felt like a close relative was there to make sure we got all the shots we wanted. It rained for part of the wedding day, but Kevin was actually excited about the rain. He used some filters which created dramatic outdoor shots of us against a cloudy sky. He can truly work in a variety of conditions to make your special day magical! (Shout-out to his second shooter, Joel, who also rocks! He photographed the groomsmen prior to the wedding and they loved working with him.) Kevin takes a great balance of posed and candid shots - we are having such a hard time deciding on which ones to frame, since they all came out exceptionally well! Some hidden gems showed up - like my dad "talking to" my 7-month old niece in a church pew. Our friends complimented us on Kevin's professionalism during the wedding - and they can't wait to order copies of photos for themselves (many shots of guests with their significant other/family made the cut!). When we first started looking for photographers, we didn't know much about the process. Yes, we had seen websites, pricing plans, and photo galleries. However, all of us know that photographers will pick and choose their best shots and put them in their photo galleries and blogs. Anyone, including myself, can take a million pictures and have a few hundred come out amazing. The question then becomes that of knowing who truly is an amazing photographer and who truly is a great artist. When it came time to meet with Kevin though, it was different. Kevin didn't try to pump himself up to be some kind of amazing photographer (even though he is) and he didn't pressure us. He simply gave us his books and let us browse through them with minimal interruptions. He gave us his pricing sheet and answered all of our questions and even offered us answers to questions we hadn't thought of. Kevin wasn't trying to hide anything and wanted to make us feel as comfortable as possible. When we left that meeting, we looked at each other and knew that we wanted to hire Kevin for our wedding. We slept on it and let Kevin know a few days later that we wanted him to photograph our wedding. It wasn't just his amazing pictures that he showed us - all the photographers had amazing pictures. It was more of his personality, his ability to connect with us, his ability to make us feel comfortable, and his ability to have more of a conversation rather than an interview type setting when we first met. We chose not to get engagement pictures done as we were on a slightly limited budget. Because of that, we had some concern that Kevin wouldn't get to know us before our wedding and that may affect the ability to get into a rhythm on our wedding day. Those thoughts were tossed out the window when Kevin repeatedly got in touch with us at least once a week as we got down to the last few weeks before the wedding. He answered all of our questions, told us exactly what we needed to have and bring, and gave us tips and pointers to make the day go smoothly. Furthermore, those concerning thoughts were crushed and destroyed on our wedding day. On that day, it felt like Kevin was our best friend and that we had known him forever. He captured the small details, the big details, and everything in between. He noticed that Christine had put a charm on her bouquet after he had arrived to capture her getting ready and knew to take a picture of it. He was all over the place, sometimes with a camera in each hand capturing every moment. He had an awesome assistant who was able to capture different angles that Kevin couldn't get to. If we wanted a certain shot, Kevin did it for us. If we didn't think of a certain shot, Kevin did it for us. We had our pictures taken at City Hall in Hartford because our wedding was on November 30 and it was a night wedding. When we got there, there was an event going on in the main atrium. Kevin didn't flinch. He quickly regrouped his things and said that he could get better shots in a different part of the building. We went upstairs and took some amazing shots that came out great! At The Riverview, Kevin took some more amazing shots and continued it throughout the evening. Kevin was so good and we felt so comfortable with him that when he approached us towards the end of the time we had booked him for, we asked him if he could stay for the last hour of the night to capture the rest of the party! When the pictures were posted on his Facebook page, it was like our wedding day all over again. The shots were amazing. Words can't express how great they came out - the angles, the shots, the art that was considered when taking them - it was unbelievable. When we got to our proofs page with all of the photos, again, it was like our wedding day all over again. We must have looked through the gallery at least ten times each. When we shared it with our family and friends, profile pictures and cover photos started changing faster than you can imagine. Kevin didn't just make sure to capture us in a great light - he made sure to capture just about every guest there in a great light and it showed. When we got the pictures in the mail, we were extremely impressed with the packaging. Pictures came in boxes that were nicely put together and a very personal and touching handwritten note from Kevin was included. To top it off, chocolates were included! One of the first thoughts we had after meeting Kevin was that he had a great personal touch and that was one of the main reasons why we hired him. It was only fitting that at the end of the entire process, a personal and touching handwritten note was included. There simply isn't a better photographer out there. We guarantee you 100% that you will not be disappointed with Kevin as your photographer. After the wedding is all said and done, all you have left is pictures. Having a great photographer was one of the most important things to us on our wedding day and we couldn't be happier we found Kevin. From the first phone call we had with him, to our engagement shoot, to our wedding day Kevin was professional, straight forward and easy to work with. On the day of the wedding, he struck that perfect balance of taking charge and getting us setup for fantastic set photos (which even included him climbing up a rock quarry at one point to get a great group shot) and then later in the evening when the dancing started he was ninja like in how he seemed to blend into the background, yet got amazing candid photos from all over the venue. In addition to that, Kevin was incredibly helpful and personable - he brought a crochet hook to help with the buttons on the back of my dress while getting ready and even helped me put my veil back in when it came off during one photo. Multiple family members told us how pleasant and professional he was throughout the day. When my husband and I had to plan a short-timeline wedding, we decided that the most important part of our entire budget was the wedding photographer. We were willing to invest what was necessary to ensure that the day was properly documented by the right photographer, and we were extremely picky. I am an artist and can't stand cheesy or generic event photography: I expected a photographer who would have his or her own artistic vision. We were lucky enough to find Kevin Kelley in our current state, Connecticut, and were extremely impressed! Both the quality of his work and his professionalism put us at ease, and our worry (the one saying that somehow, our wedding pictures would be underwhelming or disappointing) completely evaporated. Then, because of complications with my father's illness and treatment, we had to change the wedding location AND date, moving to a completely different venue in another state. Once the new location and day were set, we found out that we needed to move the wedding yet again, this time all the way to Florida! Since Kevin was in high demand, I exhaustively researched other options for professional wedding photographers, looking for a viable alternate in case our date ended up conflicting with another booking. I looked at SO MANY photographers. And I started getting worried again. And stressed. There were a lot of good photographers out there, but none of them were quite the same. I was terrified that I would have to settle for someone who was just "ok"...I didn't want "fine," "adequate" or anything else of the sort! I wanted the best. I was on the verge of a breakdown, but through an amazing stroke of luck our final date lined up with Kevin's only available weekend, and we jumped at the chance to book him for our destination wedding. Even though Florida was a highly competitive market for wedding vendors of all sorts, we chose to import Kevin from Connecticut to photograph our wedding and don't have an ounce of regret that we did! We were astonished at how he managed to calmly wrangle our relatives through both outdoor and indoor photo shoots, in very difficult light and weather conditions. People often rely on a portfolio to assess a photographer's ability, but we learned that what really makes all those beautiful shots possible is a seasoned professional with amazing people skills. He scouted unusual locations for our daytime shoot that made it artistic and unique, and captured our sunset beach ceremony perfectly...our wedding photos are STUNNING. I am a person that has always enjoyed staying behind the camera. I love what I can create. But, I knew the day of my wedding I would have to be in front of it. I also knew that I was going to be particular about the photographer I chose to capture my day. I had met with other photographers, and I have had several bad experiences with them, when they find out that I am a photographer as well. I usually don't even bring it up. But, in talking to Kevin I mentioned it and his response was wonderful. Kevin seemed excited about it. We talked briefly about my experiences and his and went on with the rest of our meeting.
