I needed a new general dentist and asked the hygienist I see for a recommendation. She works in a periodontist office, so she gets to see the handiwork of a lot of local dentists. She said most dentists in the SB area are just fine, but Dr. Miller's work looked like the photos in the textbooks. I have been going for two years now and now my wife goes as well. Aside from the quality of the work, he has a very relaxed and reassuring demeanor. He gives a detailed explanation of what he thinks needs to be done and why. Pain control is excellent. Dr. Miller and his staff were very friendly. Dr. Miller began my exam out of sequence due to my appointment starting 15 minutes late. He was very accommodating and friendly. X-rays were taken just before I left, and I have not heard back as to the results. I will go back. I will just plan for more than 75 minutes for my cleaning/exam. read more

I just had the most pleasant and educational dentist visit at Dentistry in Paradise. I was a new patient and they were very quick and efficient about getting me an appointment and sending me al the documents ahead of time so I could fill them out in the comfort of my home. I was greeted with a warm welcome from Theresa, and then Connie not only cleaned my teeth, but gave me a dental 101 lesson as she did it which I really appreciated. She did everything with a smile and was genuinely interested in my teeth's history. She even showed me how to floss and brush more effectively. I feel like my eyes have been opened to whole new dental world. Griselda was equally as pleasant and educational while taking photos of my teeth. Dr. Miller is personable, patient and explains everything with photos. I'm 30 years old and feel like I just learned about my teeth! He walked through my old fillings and showed me where cracks have occurred and explained why it would be a good idea to fix them but in a non pressuring way. I've had scores of teeth cleanings and never had a dentist charge me for their after-cleaning inspection. Dr. Miller was the first to add $56 to the bill for his 3 minute after cleaning exam. Their recent purchase of the next door dental practice appears to encourage higher fees. The first time Dr. Miller probed my teeth he cut my gum, so my confidence in his manual dexterity was not inspiring. Dr. Miller also had me sign a statement that I declined to go ahead and pay him $25,000 for his treatment plan, without even asking if I could afford such an expense. read more

What a great experience at the Dentist!! The staff at Dr. Miller's office is extremely welcoming and they go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. When I walked into the office I was greeted with a warm welcome, many smiles, offered a drink, and was seated for my appointment immediately (woohoo for not having to wait!) The office manager, hygienist, & Dr. Miller made me feel comfortable during my whole appointment! I was also well informed of what was going on during my teeth cleaning. Even though I have known Dr. Miller since he was 3 years old (friend of my son), this was my first professional experience with him after my long time dentist retired. Everyone in the office was very warm and welcoming and especially Theresa at the front desk made sure all my questions were answered and all my needs met. I thought my dentist karma was fairly good until I was blown out of the water by this place. You walk in, are welcomed with bigs smiles, and then encouraged to take a free juice (not the cheap kind) or coffee (yummy) from the drink bar while you wait. The whole place has a really inviting 'paradise' theme and the entire staff assuredly feels as if they are in 'paradise.' The young woman who took my x-rays was very happy, and spoke to me as if she were really invested in who I was and how my teeth were doing, which isn't always the case at the other offices I have been to. Then Kevin Miller came in the room and was just as invested. I thought, "aren't you going to try to hurry through this to make your unrealistic requirement of patients for the day in order to keep the doors open and the health companies off your back?" Nope. Full-on two hours of sweet conversation in paradise looking at the Goleta palm trees outside the window. Ahhhhh.... clean teeth. Two words: go here. read more

A friend recommended Dr. Miller's office when I moved to Santa Barbara and needed a local dentist. The staff at Dentistry in Paradise is wonderfully friendly. They make you feel at home, despite being at the dentist, which is not my favorite activity. Dr. Miller gets to know you and seems to genuinely care about his patients. Connie is the best hygienist I have ever been to: SO thorough. They make what could otherwise be anxiety-producing procedures comforting and quick. I didn't even notice the numbing shot! When it comes to medical procedures I am a pain in the neck. I don't like to lay back on the table and relax. Dr. Miller and his staff were terrific. They let me sit upright on the dental lounge while they did 90% of the work of removing a dead baby tooth. The procedure was fairly painless and I took frequent breaks. If I had been my dentist I would have been pulling my hair out but Dr. Miller suffered in good spirits and made me feel great. Also the dentistry was excellent, with a great final result. read more

Kiss disappointment goodbye! Best dental cleaning I've ever had (at 60 I've had one or two). Priscilla is skilled and informative. She didn't shoot the breeze; she talked about my teeth. I wasn't a fan when hygienists came on the scene and dentists quit doing their own cleaning. I found many to be patronizing. Priscilla is not. And she won't leave you feeling like you've failed in your home care efforts; she is armed with praise and positive reinforcement. Thus far, I've had one 45+ year old filling replacement. Dr. Miller, with Griselda's caring and efficient assistance, did this swiftly and with deftness. I have complete confidence in Dr. Miller's talents. Donna will keep your records straight. Whether a simple appointment or a series of appointments according to a prescribed treatment plan, you won't get lost in the shuffle. I don't have insurance, but I'm sure she makes filing a claim easy. There is also a discount for prepayment; that doesn't hurt any more than the dentistry! read more

Nothing but good things to say about Dr. Miller and his staff - and this is coming from someone who dreads dentist appointments and has had bad experiences in the past. Dr. Miller is definitely the nicest dentist I've ever been to. He takes the time to get to know his new patients, and is very thorough in explaining the procedure. He cares a lot about your comfort and is extremely gentle. I've had to have a lot of fillings done recently, and every time, he is kind, clear, and checks in on how I'm feeling regularly throughout the fillings. A nice bonus for sitting through the fillings is that they have an iPad and wireless headphone set up so you can watch Netflix and tune out while the procedure is happening. It makes such a difference - time flies and I honestly don't mind getting my cavities filled. His whole staff is also just as nice as he is. Theresa, the front desk manager, is extremely welcoming and friendly. They are all the best and I feel so happy to actually find a dentist office I don't dread going to (in fact, it's always a completely pleasant experience!). read more

I hadn't been to a dentist for several years. I had an initial appointment with Dr Miller and was impressed with the very sincerely friendly staff as well as with Dr. Miller's personality. I needed two fillings done and was dreading it because I have a problem with my jaw as it is quite painful to keep my mouth open long enough for a dentist to accomplish their work. I finally made the dreaded appointment. I am 64 and this was the FIRST time in my life that a dentist used a child's device to keep children's mouths open so they don't bite down on the dentist's hand. It was a MIRACLE! My upper and lower teeth rested on the narrow device and Dr Miller was able to get the job done. When he finished I thought he had done only one filling as I was so comfortable and relaxed. (Listening to an audiobook helped as well!) I was astonished when he said both fillings were done and I was free to go. My jaw never ached a bit. I LOVE my new dentist!! read more

Two years ago, upon moving to SB, I discovered Dentistry in Paradise through Groupon and have been coming for cleanings every six months since then. I have received top-notch cleanings from hygienists Connie and Priscilla. Yesterday, I agreed to let Priscilla try the ultrasound equipment on my teeth, insofar as she said it would give me a better cleaning. (I'd had a negative experience with ultrasound when I lived in O.C., so had steered clear of it since that time.) I appreciated her low-pressure approach; I did not experience a problem yesterday with her use of ultrasound. Dr. Kevin Miller is personable, knowledgeable and caring. The first-floor office is clean and welcoming and is a short walk from the parking lot. Both hygienists are booked about two months out, but the office is good about calling if they get a cancellation. I do not have dental insurance so I am a cash patient. Yesterday, the cleaning cost $110, plus Dr. Miller charges an additional $60 for the mandated annual oral exam. read more
