I took my old Mac Book Pro which held all of my family's treasured memories and all of my important documents and was unable to connect to the cloud- to have the data converted over to my new iMac. My desktop computer stopped turning on, and it appeared either the power button or the power supply unit was broken. While I like to think I know a little bit about computers, and I've done some fair amount of hardware repairs in the past with replacement CD drives, new hard drives, and the like, this repair seemed like it would go better and faster if I took my CPU to an expert. Kevin's Computer Service popped up in the online searches, and it's nearby, so I called. I spoke with Pam, who was positive, considerate, and upfront about costs. All good, so I dropped it off. The shop faces a busy street, but there is plenty of parking in back, and a rear shop entrance. On first impression, the shop looked ship-shape for its purpose. It has just what you might expect, but the nice thing in my mind is that I could see what they were doing. It was not a mystery shop where things happen way in back, and it was still clean and organized. For my repair, I paid a $50 cash diagnostic fee upfront. The fee rolls into the repair cost, and it seemed about the appropriate cost for the time involved and difficulty of the issue. Pam said they would get back to me within 24 hours, and they did. I had told them to go ahead with the repair if it was one of the two things I thought it might be (broken power switch or broken power unit). It was the latter, and the shop made the repair. When I showed up to pick up my CPU, it was up and running smoothly. Power restored. My total cost was $123. That was a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new computer. I had a positive experience with Kevin's Computer Service. They were polite and professional, did good work, on time, and at a fair cost. I would not hesitate to go back to the store for more help with a computer issue. read more

I had my first experience with this company last week...though they did what I needed quickly and efficiently, I had a bad encounter with one worker. He was very rude to me and my husband. We called and asked how much the service we needed would be prior to our arrival. When we arrived however, we were told a price double what we heard over the phone. When I questioned the new price, an employee was extremely rude to us and questioned us and seemed to be very upset and angry that we questioned the price. It was all sorted out in the end because another worker confirmed the price that we were told over the phone. Maybe just a bad day for the rude worker, which I get, but wasn't the best first experience. read more

A couple of weeks ago, a photographer's worst nightmare happened to me when my trusty hard drive of 5+ years suddenly no longer let me access any of its content or files on any computer I tried plugging into. After searching for help online and contacting some more large, corporate options for data recovery, I decided to stop by Kevin's to give the local shop a chance at saving my files. Let me tell you I was NOT disappointed! First off, they wouldn't charge me unless they were successful in recovery. Second, the price for if they could recover was super fair and affordable (and cheaper than other options I explored). Within a couple of days, I received the good news that my data was able to be fully recovered - they just needed me to bring by a sizeable enough hard drive to transfer all the recovered data! (They did have options for purchase through them if needed but I ended up going with a different option). The whole process was easy and I felt confident leaving my drives with them. Each time I chatted with a team member regarding my 'order', whether it was in person or over the phone, I seemed to be in new hands and talking with someone I hadn't yet chatted with. Despite that, every team member was perfectly up to speed on the details of my hard drive and didn't skip a beat in keeping me informed and updated. I was contacted by Kevin via yelp he was very concerned with the lost programs and Reyes to insure me that he could try to recover them. I was still very unsettled with allowing him or his people to touch my computer and voiced this to him. I slept on it and decided to give him the opportunity to try to fix the problems. I just picked it up yesterday and when I got home I turned it on and to my dismay it wasn't working! I was floored it was 10pm at night and I have now been without my computer for a month! Trying to keep a level head I remembered that he had given me his cell phone so I shot him a text. ( I had zero confidence that he would answer) To my surprise in seconds he answered walked me through the problem and in seconds my computer was working. I must say not only working but working FAST! It feels faster than when I originally purchased it I am amazed! I would give 5 stars however we did have the hiccup and I did loose the programs so 4 stars will have to due. My family member and I took my iPhone SE in to have the screen replaced. My family member took the phone into the store for me. All seemed well for the first day until the phone no longer could read the SIM card. The SIM card wasn't damaged but the phone doesn't recognize it. I discovered that after the screen replacement the phone had been bent midway down the body there was LCD leakage under the screen. I'm very disappointed with the service we received after the good reviews I had read here. I do not recommend taking devices to this shop. And be cautioned that it can also ruin your warranty and ability to get insurance on your devices in the future, which was something we didn't know since the shop states it could take phone insurance. read more

I dropped and shattered my screen on my iPhone 6 last night and was totally bummed because I don't have an upgrade at my phone carrier for quite some time. I was recommended Kevin's by an AT&T employee actually! I was so happy to get a recommendation from someone who gets a lot of feedback on phone repair services. I went to Kevins Computer Service because I needed them to check out a used phone I had bought that needed some repair work . I don't know much about cell phones or computers so it was important that I find someone I could trust. Well, from the minute I walked in and met Alex I got a great feeling and knew I was in good hands. Alex was awesome! He checked out my phone, figured out what was wrong with it and gave me a fair quote for repair. In addition gave me a lot more information about my phone that turned out to be really valuable when I ended up selling the phone on Craigslist.
