I could not figure how to print using the Epson 3850 printer that we recently purchased at Costco. We use an Apple laptop. I had already filled the thing with ink & could only print out 2 test prints. I found Kevin's using a Google search for in home computer repair. Greg, our in home technician, was clean, courteous & professional. He was running late but called over an hour earlier to let me know his ETA. He arrived 10min before his ETA. He diagnosed & corrected the issue in 5 min. (Epson software had 5 drivers downloaded, the computer didn't recognize the default, Greg picked the correct one) There is an hour minimum for in home service, so Greg assisted me with a undiagnosed malware issue, then showed me how to scan & print. Called Steve about our Bluetooth printer/ scanner that suddenly refused to communicate with our computer, rendering it useless. Steve tried to fix it remotely but our commuter was being stubborn. No charge for the remote assistance. Steve scheduled us for a tech home visit. Greg came by yesterday. Nice guy who knew exactly what he was doing. He had a cable in his car, which he used to connect the printer / scanner to our computer, then reintroduced our device to the computer. Works perfectly. Greg let us know that Bluetooth doesn't really work all that well for printers. The home tech visit may be a tad pricy but it was far less than a new printer/scanner. I highly recommend these guys. I spilled some sparking water on my laptop and monitor backlight was down. Came in and spent $190 for a expedited check of the issue (if successful, have to pay another $100+). On the second day, I received a call saying it is not repairable. But when I came it, I found my computer was completely dead vs. before I was able to use my laptop with an external monitor without any problem, even the camera was working. Now I had to not only buy a new laptop but also try to find a way to take the hard drive out to get the data there. They should have communicated all the potential problems before accepting the job. All feedback I got when turning in the laptop was the guy did three similar jobs in the past 30 days and all were successful and that it was 50-50 to fix the problem. No one ever said that it would be even worse by repairing!!! Paying $190 to get my laptop from workable condition to completely dead was really a joke. Would NEVER ever recommend this shop. I initially looked around at other companies because I had an issue with my gaming PC that I could not fix myself. My wife's MacBook has been broken for a while and we have been trying to get the data transferred out of it. Went to the Apple store and they refer us to a place that gave us a range of huge sum of money (like $300-$600 min. in order to "try to retrieve the data and no guarantee if we'll get any data" type of answer, plus, and they're fully booked for a month. Then we found Kevin's computer service, and in about a few hours, Kevin and his team are able to transfer out all of the data at a really affordable price! Also fixed my wife's phone's broken screen! We have had great experiences and service with Kevin's Computers until now. I took my daughter's college laptop in for repair over her spring break. The number keys and parentheses keys were not functioning properly. The keys were checked using an online program. All keys were reported to be tested and working properly when we picked up the PC. During diagnostics, Kevin's found that there were multiple viruses on the PC and that her McAfee was no longer protecting the PC. We authorized this repair along with key diagnostics. These were completed and the PC picked up. Upon inspection at home, my daughter informed me that the number keys and parentheses keys were still not functioning properly. We brought the PC back and showed Kevin's that the problem had not been resolved. They agreed and told us that we needed a new keyboard. We were unhappy with the initial misdiagnosis. Unfortunately, Spring break was ending and my daughter had to use the PC as is and purchase an external keyboard to get her through the next week. I felt that Kevin's Computers should have done a better job with the initial diagnosis since my daughter had explained the problem with the number key row. We wasted time and money fixing the wrong thing. Further, Kevin's said the entire top of the PC would need to be replaced and that this would cost an additional $250. This was on top of the initial estimate plus $120 in repairs and another estimate of $250, we are going to have over $400 in repairs on a Lenovo Flex 5. If we had a proper diagnosis, I would have scrapped the laptop and purchased a new one. This is our likely path now. read more
