My system has been hacked for more than a year by a group who called themselves TrickyWiz, supposedly a Microsoft validated repair service (they are not). They installed a hidden control command in my system that enabled them to crash my computer every few months. They were trying to charge me an exorbitant amount of money to repair the system. I had used Kevin's service in San Clemente in the past, and thought that I should have them look at my system. Anthony, at Kevin's Service in San Clemente, is who I had worked with in the past. He was able to get rid of the crash yesterday. Then when it happened again today, he did a deeper dive and found the hidden command file. He was able to delete it and got me up and running again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we asked that they contact us prior to allowing expiration, we were told by the manager that they text once and email once but don't use Kevin's email address or phone number to identify who is sending it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We don't open emails or texts from unknown sources for well-founded reasons. I took my computer in because of the spinning wheel that slowed the computer down a lot. I also had a problem with Quicken. Anthony and the other tech were able to fix the problems and were so efficient!! I cannot live without their help!!! I currently find myself in need of a computer repair and I'm reminded of the horrible experience I had at Kevin's years ago. I never left a review but I felt compelled to do so as this experience has bothered me for years. They did unauthorized work on my MacBook without telling me, voiding my warranty. They overcharged me hundreds of dollars on a new battery and claimed I needed work that I didn't need. I had to take it to the Apple store to fix the issues these guys created. But I have to hand it to the savvy pro team at Kevin's San Clemente shop - they've got the downhome vibe you'll need to not only defuse your tech dilemma with a human touch - there's a solid chance they'll have everything set right & in record time. I've been (much to my chagrin) a semi-regular customer for over six years, and so far it's worked out to be consistently positive. The few times I had to come back with any issues were sorted it straight away. It's not the most inexpensive, but it's worth every dime, and they've never overcharged me or sold me you on anything I didn't need. These guys are on point . my outdated Imac 2015 27" power supply failed after being on for 8 years , well i must say it had a good run . never the less these guys fixed it and upgraded it 4tb ssd flash drive and maxed out the ram. so much faster too. Wow way better ! I normally could do a repair like this but the imac is tricky getting into so i took her in to kevins and all the guys where really nice ,pro and did a really good job . The keyboard on my daughter's Computer was missing the "W" and asked if they could put it back, but they couldn't so they said they would have to take it apart and then give an estimate. I paid $50 bucks for that. They said they could not give an estimate until they open the computer. A day or two later they said she needs a new keyboard and it would be over $300. They tried to upsell me a new computer for $500 I said this was my late husband's computer and we can't afford a new computer. My daughter saved $200 of her own money, so we said the budget is $200. They said ok we can get her a used keyboard, they said it has a blemish on it. They texted a pic and it wasn't too bad. So we agreed they said the cost would be $200.00. They said they will order it. A week later they call and say we are expecting delivery soon. A few days later, we are told the used keyboard didn't work out and we recommend a new keyboard for $500 or buy one from them... They must not know who they are trying to scam. Mama doesn't play! They did not listen to our needs, they tried to soak us for more money. I wanted to use a local place as I love San Clemente. This place is terrible my daughter was so upset. But she did learn a lesson. I do not recommend this establishment. read more
