Totally amazing service! I lost my business account on Instagram the other day and I tried to fix it, tried to contact Instagram to no avail. Since the school closures, the need for Chromebooks has been in high demand with even the district not having enough to go around. My husband is a Paraeducator teaching remotely and using his iPhone was making it quite difficult. I got my iphone glass repaired here on Saturday. An hour later, I looked down at my phone that had been in my purse, and there's a crack down the middle of the screen. I didn't even drop it, it has a case on it, and it was less than one hour after he fixed it! Apparently the glass that they use is not the same quality as Apple. Now because the glass is so thin, every single time I am on the phone, if my cheek even lightly touches it, it will hit speaker phone or mute or facetime. Every single call I make is interrupted, and I use my cell phone primarily for business calls so it is a huge inconvenience. This never used to happen... I think it is Kevin's Computer Services responsibility to inform the customer and let them know that they are not replacing it with the same quality of glass, and warn them of the potential problems. I really wish I would have known beforehand, and spent the extra money to get a replacement from Apple, rather than get it fixed here and waste $150. read more

I brought a rather old DELL T3500 workstation in with pretty low expectations with DELL diagnostics indicating a faulty mother board. Dell indicated they no longer supported this machine because it was too old. They referred me to the Geek Squad. They were not helpful at all and wanted a hefty price just to look at this machine. Prior to this I had employed a fellow named Hans, a Mac specialist, who proved equally as unhelpful and costly. At Kevin's, I was shocked at not only the expertise but also the cost which was totally reasonable. Not only did they identify the problem a memory slot and not a new mother board, but also made sure it booted no problem with all the proper configurations. In short, I would anticipate a pleasant surprise. I am using the repaired machine to write this review and it works GREAT!! read more

These guys are wonderful! I needed a new charger port for my Macbook pro and originally looked into a computer repairman who traveled to your home, after reading that repairman's responses on yelp I decided he was condescending and I just don't have time to go to jail for punching someone in the throat so I ended up here at Kevin's. The guys here were extremely polite and speedy, my computer was fixed in less than 24 hours! I thought I needed a new battery for my computer as well and instead of taking advantage of me and my lack of computer knowledge to gain an extra $80 they were honest and told me I didn't need a new battery, sure enough after getting the computer home-I didn't! I'd recommend them 100 times over and even though I hope I don't have to use them again anytime soon, i'd use them again in a heart beat! read more

I had sketchy WiFi in my house. Called Kevin's and asked if they had any better options for me than what I was using. They absolutely did. One of their guys came out and set up a WiFi network with signal boosters that gives me amazing signal strength anywhere in my house. We stream TV, Netflix, gaming, iPhones, etc - many times at the same time. Told me it would take one hour and quoted the cost up front. Came in exactly on time and at the cost they quoted. The guys I have worked with at Kevin's (both the Dana Point and San Clemente locations) have been extremely helpful. They helped me with a photo download from my cell camera issue, did a complete service and troubleshoot on my laptop when it essentially "died" on me and resurrected it, provided a new security service, and helped me with some file issues. Had problems with my MAC running very slow followed by not turning on so I yelped a few local repair shops and chose to go with Kevin's. I talked to a sweet lady named Pam and she assured me my problem with my computer could be solved and to go ahead and bring it in. I brought the computer in, paid the $50 diagnostic fee (that was deducted from the repair total) and was soon informed that my computer's hard drive was toast! I opted for an upgraded hard drive and increase in RAM. I was please that my computer was ready in a day! the total cost was reasonable and the computer works like a dream! I dropped my work phone (an iPhone 4s) on the ground, shattering the screen. Had no idea they were made of glass! Since it was nearly impossible to make phone calls without getting stabbed with shards of glass, I figured it was imperative to get this fixed right away. I researched briefly the 'do it yourself' kits which were about $39 but decided I would probably kill the phone if i touched it, I found Kevin's Computer Service nearby and with a flat fee of $80, and a promise to have the phone back to me in a few hours. I spoke to Tyler who was very pleasant on the phone and met Kevin who was equally pleasant, at the store when I dropped off the phone. I was very pleased with the customer service, speed of repair and cost. I left the phone for a few hours, went whale watching and came back to a better than new phone. Plus, got to support a local business. Though no one wants to deal with computer issues, I will happily return should (when) the need arises. read more

Unfortunately, the issue could not be fixed but they were able to do data recovery and transfer everything onto an external hard drive. They saved me $1600. I was having unbelievable problems with my 4 year old Dell XPS. Costco was having a sale on a new one. I already bought it but figured I'd see what Kevin's could do with the old one. They quoted under $200 and said they would try to figure out the problem. It seemed everything they tried only fixed a portion of the problems, but Mike just kept on working. They probably spent 4 times as many hours but finally figured it all out. My laptop was working as fast as when I first bought it. They didn't even charge me extra because said they had it longer than they originally quoted me. I brought my computer to Kevin's in San Clemente, with a detailed description that the computer would crash when I browsed to CNN or other sites that started videos. They had the computer for two days and then told me it had been fixed by updating the drivers. At home I connected the PC to a monitor and keyboard and tested it. It crashed right after I opened a Google Chrome window with CNN. This problem continued throughout the morning, so I consulted my nephew, who suggested that I uninstall the graphics card, reboot, and run only the basic driver to evaluate. I did that, and the computer ran fine. I wrote to Kevin detailing what occurred and suggesting that I deserved a refund. I received a prompt response from Kevin, who wrote that he would contact me again on Monday. I did not hear from him on Monday but heard from Anthony on Tuesday. Anthony suggested that I update the software to older version 19.5.2, an earlier version than the current 19.9.2. Anthony said 19.5.2 was the most stable, and I could bring it in or do it myself. Anthony sidestepped the issue of him having failed to fix the computer, and suggested I had a thirty-day warranty during which time I could bring it back as needed. WAIT A MINUTE! The warranty is designed to assure me that it is fixed and will not give me problems for the next thirty days! Anthony misinterpreted the warranty as being to Kevin's benefit, and giving them thirty more days to fix the computer when they don't get it right the first time. Incidentally, I did as he suggested and installed version 19.5.2 of the Radeon software. The crashing resumed immediately. At that point, I ordered a graphics card from Newegg, replaced the graphics card myself, and the computer has been fine since. Kevin's should have been able to diagnose a bad graphics card. Kevin's should not have returned the computer to me before testing it to see if it crashed on CNN or sites that play videos. This is my second poor experience with Kevin's. Last time, I brought a new PC I built for my wife to the Dana Point location. I was told the problem was that one cannot switch a hard drive from an Intel motherboard to an AMD and that they had to do a clean installation, which requires reinstalling all the software. That information was wrong, but not knowing it was wrong at the time I had them do the work, which cost over $200. The computer continued to have problems. Kevin's never solved the problem themselves. I did further research and found that the high speed RAM was not fully compatible (Two sticks OK; not four sticks, IIRC). I switched to slightly slower RAM and the computer has been fine for the past year. If Kevin's had just refunded my diagnostic fee for failing to correctly diagnose the video card problem I wouldn't have written this. I suspect that Kevin's is fine for routine service, installing parts or software, but I would not give them a problem to troubleshoot. read more

He told me exactly how to fix my problem, which was my printer suddenly stopped printing in color, even after replacing the cartridges.
