I couldn't recommend Alex more highly. I needed a transponder key made for my college age daughter's car. I am over 1,000 miles away from where her car is. The car is a very old model Lexus and all I had for him to go on was an emergency key, which was a metal duplicate of the key in a plastic card-shaped holder with the chip separately embedded in the holder. He hadn't seen this kind of thing before. He cut and programmed a key, but was unable to test it since we were not in proximity to the car. He was honest enough to say there was a small chance of it not working due to his being unable to test it himself. Alex is truly the Key Doctor! I called around to a few places to find someone to cut a key for my truck. The key has a transponder. The entire mobile locksmith business model for automotive is built around the idea that a single re-key purchase from a dealership will cost over $200, and mobiles will charge around $125-$150 for the same service as a cheaper option. I didn't need the key programmed, though, which is the bulk of the cost at the dealership or via a mobile. I simply needed the key cut. Where six or seven other locksmiths quoted me between $75 and $150, with a service fee tacked on, Alex understood what I was asking for, and charged me only $20 for the visit, and $20 for the labor. I called Key Doctor to get a pair of 2 keys to be programmed, luckily he had 2 keys just in stock, the total was 300$ and 20$ for travel fee, however after short couple months both of the keys broke because of the same problem, a little piece within the fob broke disabling the battery and chip connection. After a certain amount of pressed the little piece becomes loose and breaks off, Alex told me I broke it and there is nothing he can do. I checked online with some of the top key doctors around and they concluded that this key he sold me is a 5$ Chinese made key. I got ripped off, don't be the next one. read more

I lost my purse which had my car key and my wallet - on Thanksgiving. My dealership told me I need to have my car towed 40 miles away to get a new key reprogrammed and they couldn't guarantee that towing my car wasn't going to wreck the locking mechanism since it was currently locked and in Park. They wouldn't give me a quote on a key without towing the car and I didn't really have a ride to get to where they were going to tow my car to anyway.
