This grocery store is overpriced and their machines outside for recycling plastic bottles and cans are usually broken (and really dirty). There's a wide selection of products inside the store though, which is a plus. I found some hard-to-find beverage items here. Produce is always super overpriced so I do not recommend buying fruits or vegetables here. Service is hit or miss. The people stocking the shelves are always friendly but the cashiers are sometimes rude or inexperienced. There's also the problem where they don't honor promos. I noticed this when items were rung up and pointed out the promotions, but they said they don't know but it must be over then (but the signs for promos are still up). read more

Nicely air conditioned during a hot day and a pretty wide selection of products. There's even a Western Union inside and you can play the lottery. And like most guys, they love their deli made sandwiches, so this was just perfect. The bottle deposit machines are out front of the supermarket and it's not crazy crowded like the ones in Corona with lines of people. So rude, won't let you use their loyalty program. You can't give your phone number and they wont scan your apple wallet keycard. They'll only enter the loyalty number once and claim the account doesn't exist. Started to argue with me once I asked kindly to try to input the number again as the account had been used at another location a few days ago. Her response? I already told you I tried it, they must have just used their own card and refused to input my loyalty number again. There wasn't even a long line ... Left everything on the belt and walked away at that point. There is at least 4 other options in walking distance to deal with that. read more

Not only he talks and looks down on people but also makes people feel bad cause they get WIC and other child assistance programs. My husband and I bought two spinach knishes and four spinach pies, at the Key Food Store located at 92-02 63rd Drive. We ate two Spinach pies which were stale and made us nauseous. The spinach knishes smelled terrible, so we were afraid to eat them because we might have gotten food poisoning. We went back to Key Food and spoke to the manager Alberto, who was quite rude and nasty. He didn't care about our situation. In fact when I was trying to talk to him, Alberto quickly walked away and began moving the shopping carts and baskets. He refused to give us any credit for our purchase. Alberto didn't care when my husband told him we were going to have to throw the food into the garbage. Unfortunately, this particular Key Food does not stand behind their products. It is not the way to manage a business. Not only does Alberto not care about his customers, he also does not know how to be polite and professional. Several other supermarkets happen to be in close proximity to this Key Food. They are C Town, Food Town, R & M Supermarket and NetCost Market. From now on we will shop at one of these other supermarkets rather than at Key Food. read more

Aside from what you would generally have about your typical Key Food in an area as this, I had no particular opportunity to form my opinion about this store until one day. A cashier would openly engage in disparagement of customers, nearly to their faces, in pretense she was talking to other workers, believing customers do not know or talk back (?!) In any way, when they were doing so even in English, my impulse was to report it to their head quarter for their bad practice seemed to have no limit. The reason that I felt strongly about this was because those who engaged in badmouthing were particularly talking about race, and the nature of it was nothing but hate speech, and harassment, to their faces, and it seemed to be focused on specific race/ethnicity. There seemed no way they could justify this for they were spewing some hate speech in public while they were ringing merchandizes up (and collecting money from those they were insulting). To be precise, the cashier was speaking ill of Asian customers and expressed her aversion to have them in their site, meditating over the possible banning of them, and fishing for agreement from a cutomer, who happened to be white. I wonder if she was doing so because the clientele would agree with her? Did she think this was permissible under the political climate we were/are living in? Or her colleagues mostly Hispanic and shared her opinion as the store? This was horrendous and unacceptable through and through. Another time, they were holding court for a Black customer who was suspected for theft, with racial issues insinuated openly in their speech, again. I was taken aback by their code of conduct so uncivlized and bordering illegal on top of their hate speech they do not even try to obscure or conceal that I decided to avoid and go anywhere but here ever since. The Store knows the watermelon displayed in front of the window is turning bad, I can't believe they are still selling them to this community. I was in the rush and got one on Sunday afternoon. when I went home and cut the watermelon in the half. what a surprise! It is super stinky. So I decided to bring the whole watermelon back to the store right away. The staff are all there, You know what, No one is able to help. No manager is here. I put half of the watermelon on the counter and talked to the cashier lady. And I ask her please smell this. She said there is a sign on the boxes" no return and no exchange ". So I went out of the store to check. 30 seconds later when I got back inside the store. Wow, the watermelon left on the counter is gone! I asked that lady where is my watermelon. I have been a regular customer at this store for many years. 1 late afternoon last week when the store wasn't at all busy I stopped by the deli counter to get 3 knishes. There were no other customers at the counter at the time & I waited patiently for 2 minutes!!! When I waved to the deli clerk who was washing a large tray at the time he came off with an attitude & continued washing the tray!!! I complained to the manager & tell him in the USA, the customer comes first!!! However, I'm docking some points because of a highly annoying encounter with the bearded man with glasses who is always manning the lotto booth. I, for some reason, always thought he was the manager because he's quite active with communicating with the cashiers but if he is the manager, then I feel bad for the customer service training he may provide his team. I walked in around 9:50ish after a long day of working. I headed to the dairy section to look for milk and eggs as I had run out. Suddenly I'm approached by the man, who asks what I'm here for. For some milk?... I replied. He says okay, but hurry because we're closing. I looked at my phone and told him the store doesn't close for another 5 minutes. He replied yes, but I need to hurry because they need to go. Ummmm???..... First of all - a lot of people that shop on this block and this store are local. Please be nice to your loyal customers. Secondly, if you don't want paying customers to come into your store and you would rather them go to another store, then please lock your door at 9:50pm and don't allow people to come in. I'm fine with that. Don't hound me to leave and make me feel uncomfortable for coming into your store and giving you business. Thirdly, does your store have an intercom? If so, you can make a closing announcement giving people a heads up that you close soon. OR - if you really want to practice excellent customer service, welcome your customers when they come in and kindly inform them the store is closing shortly. For example: 'Hello how are you? Let us know if you need anything as we close soon.' I know this sounds mind blowing - but try it. It's called good customer service. But you wouldn't know that. This was one of my two options for basic grocery shopping for a while. I will not miss this place. I don't understand how one Key Food can differ so dramatically from another Key Food. Are they franchises? Well, this Key Food has average prices, decent quality items and a satisfactory selection. I can usually find what I'm looking for, but I might have to settle for a lower quality brand than I would be expecting to find. I tend to shop the perimeter of the store and they do have better products there that I am always looking for - such as Pete & Gerry brand eggs, plain full-fat Stonyfield yogurt, and fresh vegetables. The meat selection isn't bad, either. I've gotten some goat shoulder, chicken cutlets, and frozen fish that was decent quality. I'd have to say that what immediately strikes me when I walk in and stays with me even after I've left is how dingy and stale the store feels. The fluorescent lighting is a little stranger here than in most places. The cramped aisles are packed with elderly immigrants which makes for really awkward moments when you're trying to shop and you don't have all day to do it. And the cashiers are all young women holding conversations in Spanish which always makes me feel awkward passing through the checkout line. They talk to each other over your head while they ring your stuff up. A warning: never purchase anything you might have to return. They don't handle returns well at all. They're very unprofessional if you have to return an item. My husband bought some sugar free lemonade sweetened with aspartame or something which I can't consume. I tried to return it and they gave me some hassle about it. They came up with a number and wanted me to find something to do an exchange. Another time, I returned walnuts because I found a toxic preservative in the ingredients label that I had overlooked when buying them (I had thought I was buying plain, shelled walnuts). They gave me a huge hassle and I had to go find something to exchange for them (I bought eggs). They spoke to each other in Spanish and I could tell they were complaining about me. It made me feel very uncomfortable. After a while, I started avoiding shopping at this Key Food because of the atmosphere being so uncomfortable. I cook a lot so I spend a decent amount of time shopping for groceries. So I want to be comfortable at the grocery store. I started shopping at Met Food instead. read more

Not far from Met, Key Food is much larger with a many more products and of course, a larger selection. For example, they have an actual soda aisle rather than an end corner of an aisle like Met. Ice cream selection alone trumps Met with varieties and brands unavailable there. Produce section is huge! Prices are about the same with some very good deals (buy one Breyers ice cream, get one free!), and Key Food is open later---til 10! While the store itself is handicapped accessible, there are large poles when you enter/exit so carts can't be removed from the store---and well, a chair can't get through either. I don't know what they do about that. read more

Much better atmosphere after t!he renovations. Cashier was very nice to me getting me signed up for the Savings Club Card and applying the discount before the card was in hand. Your typical Key Food but they did have the bread I like at the price I insist on getting it for (which isn't highway robbery). Located in a busier part of Rego Park & feels a little bigger than some other Key Food stores in the area. I didn't have a long trip here so not sure if they also put out expired products or have mess like some I've been in but finding the bread I wanted for a very good price made me happy. read more

It's pretty easy to find a grocery store on 63rd drive and key food only wins by distance for me. They have your basic grocery store items but won't have specific things for your pot luck. If you want more variety I would go to C town only two blocks down. I'm glad they have produce available until late but again they lose to the 24/7 produce stand across the street. I stop by for quick things and my seltzer which is always on sale! Woo! Pretty small compared to other key foods I have been too and less variety as well. I guess it depends on your geographical location on wether or not they stock the key food up. read more

Good supermarket. We cannot get the locally baked bread we like anywhere else in the neighborhood. The fruits and vegetables are more diverse and higher quality than other stores in the area. We also bought the blueberries (from Chile) and they were surprisingly fresh and sweet. This store is a little further for me but worth it for certain items. read more

This has been my go to market for almost 30 years. Lately the quality of so many things is being neglected. Got gooey slimy tasting cold cuts, so I stopped buying cold cuts and the slimy salads at the deli section. Then the hamburger meat dish I made had grit in it. I thought maybe it was from the bread crumbs. So I bought two more packages not believing there was grit in the meat. Either dirty or I don't know what would cause that. Again, I had to throw the whole meal out two more times. This is ridiculous! What is going on with this store. Then a half gallon of milk went bad within a week. Very bad, have never had this type of experience here. All within the last 6 months. Clean up your act, especially meat and deli departments. read more

I shop all the time at this keyfood they always have great deals. Now as I shop for my groceries I can also pick up a movie. Everything made so easy on the go. I am excited they have a kiosk in their supermarket for movies, and game rentals or purchase as well. Now my children love to come grocery shop with me lol because they get their way of getting a movie. P.S The Kiosk does not belong to keyfood (it is owned and operated by the kiosk owner) information is on Kiosk I think not so sure :/ . I recommend to rent movies from here. Sorry to say this, after all the upkeep transforming the place to look plentiful with vibrant colors. Keyfood has let us down. I saw the cashier use her bare hands to return the bread rolls back into the bin. The bin has a tong to utilize for the procurement of rolls. I could not just walk away not noticing. The saying kept pounding in my head "when you see something say something" so I took the right course of action of informing the Manager on duty. I feel terribly slighted by his response as I will take care of it. I don't know what he meant by this. He continued to go about his business. I continued with my response as to the unsanitary condition of a person handling money is also handling open food items with her bare hands. So with this note I wish Keyfood will take the correct course of action by educating the staff of maintaining the clean environment and not to contaminate the food products. read more

There was a little girl that was up in my personal space talking to the clerk and another woman behind her talking to her. I moved over and the little girl followed suit.
